Is RB/WR WR/WR RB/RB from the #12 Spot Nuts? (1 Viewer)

I keep mocking this and it turns out OK as often as not. And it seems to go especially well if some people wait until after they grab a QB and 2WRs to take their 3rd RB.

But I'm not sold on the quality of the mocks. Any advice?

RB/RB is terrible value

RB/WR seems the way to go if a good one slips, else I wouldn't hesitate to grab Holt/Smith and take my chances on the 3/4 turn.

It really would be a bad stradegy. In the first 4 rounds what I have seen work best is RB/WR at 1-2 turn and RB/WR at 3-4 turn or go RB/WR/RB/RB .... but to go with 1RB and 3WR's in your first 4 picks is crazy

again, it depends on the individual drafter's perceptions . . .

for example, if you think Roy Williams is a legit #1 this year (please let's not debate this, it's a hypothetical) then you could easily go RB/RB and then get Roy in the 3rd . . .

yes, there is a risk that Roy won't be there in the 3rd, but FF is part luck . . .

that's why I dont buy into the position strategy; different drafters have different projections, so it's best left up to the individual drafter . . .

In a league where you only have to start 1 RB and need to start 3 WR, I think it's an ok move depending on the WR's and RB's at the 3/4 turn. That said, I'd probably still go RB/WR and not WR/WR unless most of the starting RBs were gone and there were two good WR's there. I'd definitely take Roy Williams or Darrell Jackson over Thomas Jones or similar RB's.

I misread your post.

I think RB/WR/WR/WR is a fantastic move. I've played a few 1RB/3WR/Flex leagues, and the teams with 4 good WRs win more than the teams with 2 good RBs.

the 5/6 turn would be great for picking up a pair of RBs like a Rhodes/Foster or something.

You only need to hit one of three mid-round RB picks to have a stud team. And there is tremendous value in the 6th for RBs this year.

Here's a mock where I drafted from the choo-choo

QB

Carr, David HOU --- 5 0

Favre, Brett GBP --- 6 0

RB

Williams, Carnell TBB --- 4 0

Williams, DeAngelo CAR --- 9 0

White, LenDale TEN --- 7 0

Martin, Curtis NYJ --- 9 0

WR

Burress, Plaxico NYG --- 4 0

Bennett, Drew TEN --- 7 0

Driver, Donald GBP --- 6 0

Kennison, Eddie KCC --- 3 0

Edwards, Braylon CLE --- 6 0

Smith, Steve CAR --- 9 0

Bryant, Antonio SFO --- 7 0

TE

Gonzalez, Tony KCC --- 3 0

K

Tynes, Lawrence KCC --- 3 0

DT

Seahawks - DT SEA --- 5 0

The best part of these type of leagues is you can afford to gamble on guys who won't start the season, but will see heavy action later.

RB/WR in the 1/2 turn is a given...

you have to pick at least one WR in the 3/4 turn, but what you should do with the other pick is compare the points you think the top RB will have with the top WR and pick whoever will score more...

after the 6th you should have either 2 RB & 4 WR, 3 RB & 3 WR, or (if a big point QB drops to you) 2 RB, 3WR, & 1 QB...

Thanks all. Lots of good advice.

This strategy seems to work especially well if one of the top 8-9 RBs drops to #12, or people delay on taking a 3rd RB. Which in a start one RB, flex RB/WR league seems more likely than might otherwise happen.

It also helps that I think their are a couple Top 10 WRs that are going to be on the board for picks 36-37.

And if Benson/Jones or Rhodes/Addai are available at 59/60 it seems like a layup.

Realize that you're not playing a start 2 RB league....Wait on your #2, not your #3.You will need a minimum 4 solid wideouts, and only 1 RB.with 3 WRs, bye weeks matter, and you'll need a 4th guy who can fill those 3 weeks. Also, your 4th WR can start at flex in off-weeks while your mid-round RB picks germinate on the bench into midseason studs. If they miss, you're not down at all, but if one hits, your team goes from above average to dominant. The key in these leagues is getting a stud back and loading up on WR talent. Not depth, but starters.
