I've said this many times, but the majority of the crowd at any NFL game is the guy who can never get out of the house except for his season tickets to his NFL team. So he leaves at 7 am for a 1pm game, eats, drinks, drinks, drinks, and drinks some more. By game time he is a sleepy or boisterous mess, often going back and forth between the two. All inhibitions are gone, he's likely going to piss himself at least once during the season and he's a complete mess at work on Monday.

I've been to many NFL games in many stadiums, all the crowds are made up of the guy above. It's not a good atmosphere unless you go to a playoff game or a Super Bowl. Drunks, drunks, and more drunks.

So, it's a lot like the Shart Pool.

raider games in oakland are fun. great tailgate. people watching all the maroons that dress up is a plus. the games have sucked balls the last 13 years. but i'm pretty hammered and i walk the stadium, visiting people i know. always ending at my buddies private box for booze through the 4th quarter.

my buddies and i have dulled the pain of how bad the raiders have been, by doing a road game every year. kc was great, i got bryan cave's 50 yardline seats and access to their box, so that was a plus. lambeau was sweet and we got smoked by 40. great people in KC and WI. AZ was awful. football should be played outside. raider games in SD are awful as well. horrible mix of people. this year i passed on the bears game and am pleased with my decision. all my buddies went, i didn't care. i may go to a home game this year, but it will involve a weekend with the wife in SF. next year is NO, i'll go to that one because i've never been to NO

i've been to the Super Bowl as well. that really sucked and not just because TB killed the raiders. talk about the longest game of all time. and the horrid half time.

I guess I'm spoiled being a Packer's fan because going to those games are great. Start with the morning bloody mary, then tailgate for a few hours and then have a blast for 3 hours during the game. The atmosphere at Lambeau is great. I try to hit one game a year and never have not had fun there and I've seen some tough losses. I feel bad for those of you that have had terrible experiences at NFL games. Yes the Redzone channel and High Defintion TV is great but it's fun to get off the couch every once and a while and have some fun with other fans.

As far as NFL vs college goes Lambeau blows Camp Randall away...and I love going to Badger games.

Meh, even this isn't really true anymore. If you're under 40 you're most likely obnoxiously drunk at Lambeau, and if you're over 40 you're most likely fat and lazy and complain the second anyone stands up to cheer.

The tailgate scene at Lambeau is top notch for sure, but my god do Packer fans hate having to stand. It better either be a touchdown or a 50+ yard play, because if you stand to cheer anything else you're getting yelled at.

Some of the food in the dome is actually good, great bloody Marys, can park anywhere in the city near a streetcar and take a streetcar to within 2 blocks of the dome. I will say this hasn't been my experience at Panthers games. And I sit in the cheap seats. The stadium keeps a close eye on things and anyone acting out is removed pretty quickly. Even opposing fans usually have nice things to say about the crowd. We may be a tad to polite.

Lots of standing and cheering for the Dallas playoff game last year. Again maybe because I only hit 1 game a year I've never not had fun going to a game. I've had Ravens tix since they got here and I would love to sell my tix and PSL. Unfortunately my pops loves to go so I pay for the season tix and go for him. I'd way way way rather watch it at home. Yea for me it's not the d-bag fator or even the parking. In fact, we park for free about a 15 minute walk from the stadium. If I leave my house at 11:45, assuming the ridiculous pat-down line isn't too long, I'll be in my seats by 11:45 (I live about 20 minutes outside the city). Getting home takes me the same. It's just that even though our seats are pretty good, the view isn't as close to as good on tv. It's still almost 6 hours out of my day, and all the drunks do get tiresome. A beer is $8.75 and if you have a few and have to use the restroom, you're missing 8 minutes of action or so.

Plus my PSL's are worth around $5k!

Does that marching band still walk into the stadium? Did they do that there? If so, I thought that was pretty cool.

For the most part, I think the saints get it right. My biggest complaint is the wifi/data signal inside the dome.

But overall, it's a pretty good experience.

All that being said, if they didn't play in a dome, I don't know if I'd get season tickets. I couldn't imagine being out there in cold or wet weather.

Not necessarily. Anyone who iKnows me knows I'm the first guy to jump at the opportunity to do something fun/wild, etc. I've been to dozens of NFL games and I still go to UCF games, bowl games here in Orlando, baseball games, basketball games, etc. NFL games have gotten absurd, both in cost and time commitment. If I lived in NO and could take a streetcar to the game, knock back a few drinks, and then walk out of the stadium into a sea of bars and revelers, I'd go at least once a year. It's not like that for everyone.

I defy you to tell me how sitting in my air-conditioned house with a fridge full of beer and food, a private bathroom, the most comfortable chair in the world, and a giant TV that allows me to flip to any game I want during breaks in the action isn't better than driving 6 hours round trip, spending close to $1,000, sitting in parking lot traffic in a super-sketchy neighborhood for 1-2 hours and (most likely) sweating my ### off for 3 1/2 to watch the Jaguars (or Dolphins or Buccaneers) play. Pass.

MLB - at least 15-20 games a season not including spring traning

NBA - Original Heat Season Ticket Holder and go to at least 20 games (split my seats with my Dad).

NHL - At least 8-10 Panther games a year

NFL is just not my cup of tea anymore. It sucks live compared to the other 3 major sports. It is really bad actually. I have probably attended well over 125 NFL games in my life. The experience has changed drastically.

They sellout every game and have huge waiting lists... true... but I've sat in many sections and know a ton of people with season tickets. All of us agree on a few things - traffic is awful, tailgating is amazing, and don't stand and not expect to get yelled at. It's certainly better during playoff games, or even Bear or Vikings games, but it amazes me every game I go to how lazy people are, and how entitled they feel they are to have a perfect view of the game while sitting on their ###. I think the fact that everyone has had their tickets for so many years contributes to that sense of entitlement.

And I didn't even mention how horrible it is sitting next to a 300-pounder on a bench seat that has its seats spaced out based on the size of a 180-pound person.

I had Cardinals season tickets for a season. I definitely enjoyed it. That's a nice stadium where the prices, while high, aren't gauging and the parking lot is wide open for tailgating. It's fun being there.

That said, I did miss being able to watch other games for fantasy reasons as well as I'm a Vikings fan so I missed half their games. I also started to get annoyed at the time commitment of going - it's basically your entire Sunday.

So, while I like going, I don't find it worth the money when compared to the enjoyment of just watching Sunday ticket at home or in a bar.

For live versus TV:

1. NHL - really soooo much better in person compared to TV. Easily the best.

2. Rugby - on TV it seems slow and confusing. Was simply incredible though in person to see just how big yet fast those guys are. Like a bunch of Adrian Peterson's playing fumblitis.

3. Baseball - I enjoyed both being there in person and watching on TV. Wife and I had Dbacks partial season tickets and really enjoyed it. Admittedly, it gets slow at times but the same goes for watching it on TV. Still much rather be there in person.

4. College football - I can't stand watching college football on TV, so it's far better to be there in person just for the atmosphere. I just find the play to be so mediocre and disinteresting compared to the NFL.

5. NBA - It's fun, but I find it hard to follow the play sometimes in person. Most seats make it hard to see the lines or fouls happen.

6. Soccer - fun atmosphere, but a lot like basketball in terms of visibility versus TV.

6. NFL - atmosphere is a blast, but the visual impairments are offset by the fact that Sunday Ticket and the new camera angles with HD make the TV experience for football so great. Easily best sport to watch on TV.

College games... love em. Imagine I enjoy those way more than I would NFL games. Neyland usually empties easily despite having 100k folks. I don't usually drive after games... just walk to a bar or back to tailgate spot. Prices aren't bad and any booze I'm drinking is usually snuck in via flask, so I'm just out a couple large sodas for mixing.

It is pretty sweet that college games are typically on Saturdays. If I drive down to Eugene with buddies to watch the Ducks play, I almost always get a hotel room down there so I don't have to drive back. Recover from partying on Sunday, wake up fresh as a daisy on Monday. I'm too old for hangover Mondays now.

I am a Bills season ticket holder and generally enjoy the experience. The drunks can be a little obnoxious at times, but it's not so bad for the most part. I wouldn't want to be an opposing fan though.

My season tickets are $560, no PSL. Upper deck 30 yard line. Pricey but it's something that I treat myself to. Show up around maybe 10:30 AM, have a few beers and food, get a little buzz going, and go to the game. The only time I'll ever buy anything from the concession stand is if it's unreasonably hot and I get a water. Otherwise nothing.

If the prices went up dramatically I'd probably stop going. I can't imagine paying the prices that people pay in other cities.

I prefer CFB games, but there's no CFB around here worth going to.

I know it's not pricey compared to other cities, but I'm not exactly making it rain hundred dollar bills in my daily life. They are the lowest-priced tickets in the entire stadium, a very no-frills experience. I didn't even know there was such a thing as "waiter service" at a sporting event until this thread.

We used to bring leftovers from the tailgate in at halftime but now you get frisked like a criminal. If you let them. Can't remember if I posted here or GMTAN but on Sunday I walked right past security, then past a cop feet away from security, then into the stadium all without stopping or showing a ticket.

This is my first year as a season ticket holder with Buffalo also. I am enjoying it...other than the 1-3 home record.

But yeah....the guy sitting a few down from me pissed himself halfway through the 4th quarter in the last game (vrs Bengals).

It was dripping down his leg as he staggered to leave.

It's not uncommon to have people passed out all over the place in the stands, at least up in the nosebleeds. According to a report released today by BACTrack, the Bills have, on average, the drunkest fans in the NFL.

I had season tickets from 03-10 and went to ~4 games/season during 11-14, and I've never really noticed much of a difference in drunkenness over the years. There's pretty much no way I'd take like a 7 year old to a game though, and I remember going with my dad when I was that age.

I am a Bills season ticket holder and generally enjoy the experience. The drunks can be a little obnoxious at times, but it's not so bad for the most part. I wouldn't want to be an opposing fan though.

My season tickets are $560, no PSL. Upper deck 30 yard line. Pricey but it's something that I treat myself to. Show up around maybe 10:30 AM, have a few beers and food, get a little buzz going, and go to the game. The only time I'll ever buy anything from the concession stand is if it's unreasonably hot and I get a water. Otherwise nothing.

If the prices went up dramatically I'd probably stop going. I can't imagine paying the prices that people pay in other cities.

I prefer CFB games, but there's no CFB around here worth going to.

$70 with no PSL is "pricey"?

Last time I went to a Jags/Steelers game in Jax, I sat in club level and the tickets were $250 a piece, face value.

Why so much drinking at NFL games? I've never felt the need to be drunk in order to enjoy the game.

I enjoy the game. It's the other two hours and thirty minutes that encourage drinking.

Come to think of it, sharing space with 90,000 Shark Poolers is a pretty accurate description of just how awful it is to attend a Redskins game. I wish I had thought of that comparison.
