Is there a bright side to picking 5th in non-ppr? (1 Viewer)

I'm in a 12-team redraft, non-ppr and picking 5th. With ppr I could feel ok throwing my hat in with Westbrook, Addai or even Reggie Bush. Non-ppr it just seems like you've got 5 or 6 guys who could hit the Top 5 this year, but might as well be picking 3-5 slots later to make your decision easier and get the higher round 2 pick in the process.

Anyone out there who would not want to trade down from this spot? If so, who would you feel happy with at the 5-spot?

Yes, there's a bright side- unless your draft is only 1 round long, it doesn't really matter how good you feel about your options with the #5 overall pick.Draft slots are not just about the best value you can nab with your first round pick, they're about what value you can nab throughout the ENTIRE DRAFT. Drafting in the middle of the round leaves you perfectly positioned to pounce on any players that start to slide (whereas if you're at the turn, most players in free-fall get snatched up in the 22 picks between your back-to-back).

When talking about the first two rounds if you are not picks 1.01 or 1.02 I think it is best to be 1.08-1.12 this year because players 1.03-2.05 are all of similar value IMO. If I where you I would consider trading down.

I agree that for the 1st round in a non PPR league is a tough spot.

Right now, I am considering just saying the heck with it and picking Travis Henry.

you should have your choice of SA, Gore, and FWP. Not bad options for any league. And SSOG is right. Any slot can be good or bad depending on how well you draft

I have pick five in my league. Here are some of the teams I have drafted:

A good team that I mocked last night:

McNabb, Favre, Rex

LJ (I could have had Alexander), McGahee, Dunn, Droughns

TO, Driver, Braylon, Kennison, Drew Carter, Ronald Curry

Shockey

Ravens

Mare

Another:

Palmer, Roethlisberger

Alexander, Deuce, Foster, Rhodes

Driver, Burress, Hacket, Kennison, Troy Williamson, Reggie Williams

Heap, Watson

Chicago

And one where I waited on a QB

Rivers, Favre

Alexander, Fred Taylor, Brandon Jackson, Michael Bennett

Holt, Owens, Randy, Clayton, TrWilliamson

Witten, Olsen

Chicago

I like my chances with each of those teams. And in all of those leagues I could have had Parker or Westbrook. Im still debating whether to get a QB early or sit on one. Same with Defense
