Is there any way to stop terrorism? (1 Viewer)

Don't a lot of mexican legal immigrants join the military to get citizenship?

Naturalization at Basic Training

USCIS established the Naturalization at Basic Training Initiative in August 2009 with the Army to give noncitizen enlistees the opportunity to naturalize when they graduate from basic training. Under this initiative, USCIS conducts all naturalization processing including the capture of biometrics, the naturalization interview and administration of the Oath of Allegiance on the military installation. Since 2009 USCIS has expanded the initiative to the Navy, Air Force, and finally to the Marine Corps in 2013, giving enlistees of these branches equal opportunity to (in most cases) leave basic training as U.S. citizens.
Right, I think this was part of the DREAM Act. I really don't know a lot about immigration. I think it is a reasonable idea worth looking at. The anti-refugee crowd will say that we would be putting terrorists into the military. I am pro-refugee for 3 reasons:

1. Its the morally right thing to do as the people fleeing are fleeing the same terror that we are fighting to end. The difference is most people of the West have never directly been impacted by terror and the refugees were impacted by it every day.

2. It is a successful long term strategy. The children fleeing are the same children that represent future potential generations of terrorist recruits. They are children that would grow up in a war torn land of violence with no opportunities. There they would be brainwashed in ISIS schools and likely develop into future combatants.

3. As much as some hate to admit it, but for the war on terror to be won, the United States needs  to build and maintain many strong Middle East partnerships. Taking in refugees is a way of building good will.

I didn't wake up one day out of boredom deciding not to like radical muslims, they have worked hard for disdain! id say they have earned it.....
My issue with your side is the distinction between Islam and radical Islam. I agree here with your statement hat Radical Islam has earned disdain.

Europe is the other problem here with fighting terrorism. The "brexit" referendum coming June 23 is a serious concern. If they leave, it's a bit of chaos as nobody knows what happens next. The EU countries will spend most of their time focused on the divorce negotiations. It could weaken the UN which already is suffering from a lack of cohesion. We need the E.U. to become more intertwined to fight terror, not more fragmented.

2. Not our problem.

3. Not at all, they'll still hate us or not trust us.

2. It is our problem. That is why this thread exists in the first place.

3. I agree that there will always be groups in the ME that dislike the United States. However, it is not every group and too often people of the Middle East get lumped into 1 group. It is a very diverse place. There are  groups that support the United States now. We need positive relationships in the Middle East for numerous reasons.
