Is there anything more cluttered than FBG Email updates? (1 Viewer)

Put me in the same camp as the rest that think the ads are way too much. I'm already a subscriber. I shouldn't have to wade through half a page of ads. The ads themselves are actually longer than the player updates themselves. FBGs has jumped the shark. It seems like it is no longer about providing excellent fantasy football content but more about making a buck. I understand that they aren't going to do it for free but there is a balance between providing great content and making money at doing it. FBGs crossed that line a long time ago.

Am I the only one who deletes these 95% of the time b/c they are so messy? In a world in which quick, clear, and concise information is at a premium, why do I have to search for the substance in a FBG breaking news update?

Joe and David - you guys need to fix this. People do not want to wade through paragraphs of disclaimers and ads and non-substantive stuff to get the news and your take. Those two parts, the ESSENTIAL stuff that we love you for, are not highlighted or easily distinguishable. They are the same font as all of the other stuff. Your advertisments in the Gordon email have several bold and colored items that first draw attention from your eyes.

You guys are the experts, so I'm sure this is just the price of doing business and you have weighed the pro's and con's, but man, it really seems like the format could be much, MUCH better.
Only thing more messy? The weekly page full of article links each week during the season.

What does that have to do with anything? So they shouldn't put out timely "breaking news" reports because some of us work for a living? Color me shuked.

Read it again.

Still not getting it.
This is karma biting you in the ###.

Exactly!

The emails are super cluttered and annoying, very hard to find the actual content. I subscribe because I've gotten older and lazier and some fairly timely information is good enough. Sifting through a bunch of extra garbage sort of defeats my goal is not working too much at ff.

But how else would we know that Matthew Berry said FBGs is "The Best Premium Fantasy Football Only Site On The Planet"?

How hard is it to read a twitter update at work? Can't be much harder than stuffing food into your mouth and taking pics.

:goodposting:

I dont even bother opening them any more.
This.

I don't get the breaking news emails either. Twitter and Rotoworld have both made any FBG breaking news irrelevant by the time Joe gets the email out.

I wonder if David gets the news by having someone page him, then he has to run home to his computer, print out the news and then fax it Joe? That could be why it takes so long?

They are regularly scooped by sleeperbot's eblasts.

Oh and everyone on Twitter.

I'm not sure Joe & David's business model is to compete with twitter w/re to breaking news. I don't think that is a battle they want to engage in, b/c they can't win that one. I for one would rather they take a bit of time to analyze the breaking news and give readers advice on how the news affects the landscape.

Read one single Twitter update? How does that work? How do you know which one to read?

Considering tweets are only 140 characters its pretty easy to scroll through looking only at the ones that interest you.

Or...I don't know...only follow people you want to follow? That's how twitter works.

you need to follow a ton of people if you want to hear about breaking news faster than everybody else

I check twitter from time to time, but I'm not on it 24/7. If something important happens, I like getting an email to point it out so I don't miss it. I don't care if it comes out immediately when the news breaks personally. I don't think that's really the point of those alerts.

I disagree. If you follow a few of the top people they almost always retweet from their source which you most likely aren't already following.

well, it's nice to have options. not everybody loves and uses twitter.

the emails Joe sends out aren't meant to replace twitter for breaking stories faster than everybody else. I think they are meant to alert subscribers to bigger news stories that they should be aware of without having to wait for the daily newsletter updates.

Agree with Aaron Fan. I'm on my computer most of the day at work. I'm on twitter maybe every other day. So I'll see an email to my work address much faster than I'll see a tweet.

Heavy twitter users will have a different experience obviously.

It takes like fifteen scrolls to get down to anything useful. And I'm a subscriber already. They need to figure out how to send the spam only to non subscribers.

gotta admit i was just thinking the same thing...was just considering assigning them to junk mail folder...very sad...used to look forward to those emails

Yeah if they are not useful to you then fine, to me they are useful but annoying because the ads. And it was not always this way, it has gotten worse

Twitter has an app. That's where I use it 98% of the time.

Well, yeah... that's 100% of my twitter use. What does that change?

Say what you want about Matthew berry but (if you just swap the loves and the hates) he pretty much nailed last years preseason love/hate column.

It's actually really amazing how wrong he was.
