Is Willis McGahee a Pro Bowl RB? (1 Viewer)

I asked this question via Twitter, but I wanted to hear from the Shark Pool.

Is Willis McGahee a Pro Bowl RB? He leads the NFL with 6 100-yard rushing games this season and is a big reason why the Broncos are winning. He's come back from a broken hand after two weeks, and played through a hamstring injury too.

Some thought the Broncos were crazy to go after McGahee, and wanted instead DeAngelo Williams. Some felt Knowshon Moreno was a better back despite my camp reports stating the contrary. Now, McGahee has shown EXACTLY why Brian Xanders made this move. Does he belong in Hawaii?

What does the SP think?

I was dead wrong about what McGahee was capable of doing.

He is playing at an elite level right now. He has been the one constant on offense for the Broncos and he is in the pro bowl running for sure.

AFC rushing leaders before todays game:

1. MJD

2. Foster

3. Chris Johnson

4. Rice

5. Fred Jackson

6. Michael Bush

7. McGahee

I think McGahee fits in behind MJD, Foster, and Rice. If Chris johnson finishes off the year strong, he's in as well. McGahee in ahead of Fred (a shame that he got hurt) and Bush. IMO, final pro-bowl spot comes down to CJ2K & McGahee.

I think McGahee's success will be discounted because of the Tebow thing, whereas Tebow himself won't make it.

Thought he looked just fine in Baltimore. Read some thought he looked sluggish. Not sure if they were even watching him (or more likely just toting the whole near 30 RB line to base an opinion on)

Not stunned he's doing what he's doing.

I didnt think he looked sluggish.. just didnt hit the hole hard but the offensive line wasnt that great at times. He added weight I believe and is beasting. Always been a huge Mcgahee fan.. he's had his ups an downs. Attitude has stunk at times because of the self entitlement thing but he's learned.. now producing. Had a horrific injury in the Fiesta bowl... he couldve been a great one possibly.. but he's shown perisistence and work ethic. I hope he makes the pro bowl over CJ2K.. he's earned it.

Moleculo pretty much captures my thinking. The last spot is between him and CJ2K. I do think Tebow helps him but I do give him credit. He is playing much better than I expected.

Pretty sure only 3 RBs make the Pro Bowl for each conference, and barring injury, its pretty clearly Arian, Rice, and MJD.McGahee has had a very good year though. Too bad the rest of my team sucked/got hurt because he wouldve been my 1 huge value pick.

I'd also put him ahead of CJ2k fwiw. The big 3 in front of him have just had fantastic years. He would be 1st alternate (which might get invited depending on how the playoffs shake out) helluva year for willis.

No. But he's a near shoe-in for 'comeback player of the year".
Is being a FA and going to a new team where you become the starter essentially without injury considered a "comeback"??Funny you say that, because I might call Stafford the comeback player of the year.

yes, yes he is.
How's this for confusing? Even though McGahee will be in the Pro Bowl, he will not officially get credit for making it. IIRC, alternates later added due to injuries or players dropping out don't get credit for "making" the Pro Bowl.

I don't think you recall correctly. Yeah, that's 11 QBs you count.

Wikipedia also lists players as "pro bowlers" in the years they made it as alternates. The official Hall of Fame website also counts such pro bowls when listing a player's accomplishments in his bio. Stupid, but apparently standard operating procedure.

as a 3rd year pro with .5 yrs of resume, I wouldn't have thought stafford had enough to come back from.

shows you what I know

 Although I wouldve preferred a 30td/4000yd year so his pricetag next year was at least reasonable.
