I've Decided To Make A Movie... (1 Viewer)

As an homage to polecat, the movie could end with JTC in front of the camera saying, "I'll be back to wrap this story up in a bit," and then just letting the tape run as long as people will sit in front of it.

I'll have to admit, it's these types of movies, that have me convinced this will work. Between American Movie and King of Kong, you've got characters who are not your typical stars, yet people get enthralled with the story nonetheless. Even if its from a trainwreck perspective sometimes, it's working.

Are you kidding me? There are so many stars here I can barely see.
 
I've always thought this would make a tremendous documentary topic. It's kind of a hidden world which really hasnt been exposed to mainstream public yet. Seems like every active message board has a steady cast of characters (and usually some really funny people). I think A LOT of people would relate (more than the amount of people who play Donkey Kong and look how well that did).

I guess I don't get it.

Whats the third act? What is the build up? Is Shuke vs GM going to be the only conflict involved?

Is it going to build up to an event, personal discovery, or is it just going to be 2 hours of random stuff?

Not being a downer, just a thought.

You are not being a downer, you have legitimate questions.I plan to bring threads with eccentric characters to the forefront, introduce the public to the thread and the handles, and then the public will join me on my journey to go meet these people in real life. I won't know what's coming next just like the audience is not going to know. The end result will take a lot of editing but I am convinced just like these threads, these meetups will contain many gems.As a background arc, I am going to try and generate a thread that will evolve through the movie as well to create a story within the story.

Do you know people here personally where you have subjects in mind? With a forum like this it would be hard because you have to find guys that are interesting both on and offline. That's not going to be an easy task.

Still think you need to build up to something, even if its something that doesn't go anywhere. With American Movie he was trying to finish Coven. You need some sort of storyline arch to hold your viewer's attention.

Building up to a cornhole of 4 or 5 guys with something at stake would be good television. Maybe incorporate some sig bets to tie it together.

Have the cornhole take place in correspondence with another event to build your audience. Have it build to an NFL draft cornhole or a competitive eating contest, anything.

Maybe set up someone who can beat the guy who threw out all the challenges (boxing., field goal kicking, pitching, etc.)...that could segue into a Ritz cracker throw off.

This has potential. I'll pay to see it.

 
I haven't approached anyone yet because I have a lot of questions that I need answered from a legal standpoint.

I have a meeting with a lawyer on Thursday so once I get through the legal ramifications, I will have a lot more information for you all.

 
Thanks for all the PMs, a lot of you have mentioned Herbert the Hippo and do not despair, he is on the master list that I am compiling. Getting these guys to agree to share their lives on camera will be the challenge. Its obvious that I will need those that want their 15 minutes of fame in order to pull this off.

I want to use this time as an open recruitment, if you think you have a good story that America wants to hear and it can be documented on this board, let me know. This is a work in progress, I am very open to the idea that there is a lot of material yet to come.

:excited: I had two thoughts when I read the OP:1. It will only be as good as the participation of the board members2. What is the finale - the payoffUnfortunately I doubt you will get #1 but maybe. As for #2 - what about getting everybody on board some type of charitable event or someting? Lots of i-hate goes on around here but if you pick a worthy cause you could get everyone onboard and the payoff being an online community working together to accomplish something meaningful plus the added "drama" of folks who dislike each other online meeting up for the first time working together.I have no clue how this would sell, but that or something like it seems to be the way to go IMO.

I don't play werewolf, so i may be incorrect in what i am about to say. But from my understanding: Everyone is the werewolf, yet no one is the werewolf.

I don't play werewolf either, it's not something I know a thing about and I don't have any intention of covering it.I am looking at getting 10 good stories and hoping that 5-6 of them make it to film.
 
Can I just show up every 25 minutes during the film spouting stupid one-liners? Please make sure all of my funniest lines get deleted like they do here.
