Ive had enough! How do I unsubscribe from the (1 Viewer)

Im dumbfounded on how this gets into my Fantasy Football weekly mailing:"Musical Note Of The Week. I've mentioned that my 15 year old son is an aspiring musician. Big night for him a few weeks ago as he made his public debut at my friends very cool Remedy Coffee House in Knoxville. He played a White Stripes song, a song by Cage the Elephant and this silly song by one of his favorite bands, Flight of the Conchords. Apologies for the low video quality - Dad was more than a little nervous and failed to bring the right camera..."I dont think this needs any explanation or debate. I love the FBG product, and I will continue to be a paying customer. That said, Ive never been a big fan of the "Random Shots" emails and this past season the content has gotten overly bothersome to me. How do I unsubscribe from this "Random Shots" email? Id like to continue to receive all other content. Thanks
This just reminded me that I am not receiving the Random Shots at all? How do I start to get them and read the past ones? I have been a member for awhile.
Just bang your head against the wall a few times. Same result.

I like Random Shots but they've definitely become more mean spirited this year and a ton more sales-y. I long for a simpler time when the focus was on goofy things happening on the field and not links to corporate "contests", the misinterpretation of tv commercials/incomprehension of the ad business, or book pimping for national columnists. I loved the video of Sam though. Takes guts to get up there. Good stuff.

Agreed, I love Joe's take on the stuff going on on the field and within the NFL teams management but the corporate plugs and contests I can do without..........But I also am not "angry" about it or wanting to unsubscribe because of it. It's called "Random" shots for a reason and it's like any other piece of readming material, good for some, bad for others.Liking or not liking something is always solved with simple "changing of the channel"

So what you're saying is it's business as usual around here?

I think JAA brings up something worth discussing, although maybe not in the Shark Pool. And if others feel the same, I think Joe would like to know. And I think that is more important that the amount of punctuation.
Fine. But that's the way my 10 year old starts things she needs to discuss. It isn't generally conducive to good communication. There was a more constructive approach than his real or mock anger and frustration, if being constructive was his intent, which I personally doubt. That is the only point I have. There is a difference between venting and opening a constructive discussion about content. You guys carry on. I'm going to re-subscribe to Random Thoughts.

Yep, not sure if this is strategic or just a reflection of the author. It seems like more of an advertising medium now.

I would guess that the random shots, while seemingly a simple thing, is easily one of the hardest / most time consuming pieces to produce as well. So I appreciate your work, Joe.
As a subscriber, I seriously hope this is not the case.

Read your 1st line and thought you were talking about the turtles...

I don't mind the off-topic stuff and it sometime is very interesting (we should all work towards a little more balance). I don't understand why Joe is pushing Matt Schaub as trade bait. The guy should continue to perform well, unless Joe thinks he will get hurt soon.
:( I would like to here his reasoning, not just telling us to trade him this week.

I get them sent to me twice....you can have one of mine.

:(

It is kind of tiring on the index finger to delete emails.. JAA could develop some type of debilitating injury...

Your request to unsubscribe from the 'footballguys-public-fulltext' mailing list has been received and will be processed shortly. You will be notified of the success or failure by email.
:( :(ETA: That's the real response from footballguys when you unsubscribe.

This is really petty. I'm more offended by this thread being created. I would hope that you created this thread in jest.

Why would you even put this in the shark pool? What value does it have here. Your not giving me any Fantasy Football tips at all.

It's obvious that he loves his son. So if he wants to devote 1% of the text here to his son. Then so be it. I don't have a son. But if I owned the site and you griped the way you did. I'd refund you twicefold and close your account.

It's obvious that the Eagles losing to the Raiders has resulted in such a short fuse this week.

I would like to block JAA's posts. I find his team affiliation in poor taste for a fantasy football forum.

:goodposting: Love it.The man owns the company and can pretty much write any freelance articles he wants, post them 3 times a day and e-mail them to everyone who subscribes. If you don't like everything then either hit the delete button or stop reading. This company and product is also great because it provides "entertainment" as well..........and the beauty of entertainment is it's a matter of OPINION.

I imagine he thinks Schaub will get injured sometime in the near future.~~~~~~~

Putting on my  , it's very subtle, but I think there are certain teams Joe either doesn't care about or maybe he doesn't like them. He will rarely mention them or will mostly only mention negative things. The Texans are one of those teams. I'm probably being a little bonkers though.

I would like to unsubscribe to everything BUT the Random Shots email.. it's literally the only thing I read

You are absolutely right - joe as the owner is free to do that. however, JAA, as the paying customer, is also free to express his opinion (or displeasure) with some aspects of what he has purchased in what is a public forum. There's enough freedom in this to cover both sides.

there is no ignore function here, just scroll over the posts pretending they are not there. Jeez, I cant believe you created a whole post for this tirade

Gee, for someone that appears to value OPINION so much.........

 I've been more disappointed by JAA's lack of new avatar pictures. Time for another group my friend...do it!

I have had enough of this thread!!! :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: Is there some way that I can not read this thread while still being able to peruse the rest of the site? I mean seriously not everyone likes FREAKING TURTLES. Personally I think they are useless. What the hell has a turtle ever done for anyone? Nothing, that's what.

See you in hell turtle lovers.

Correct -- that's the list we send Random Shots to.
what other emails would you not get?just clarifying. i think JAA's solution is misguided, just like i think JB's inclusion of that blurb about his son was misplaced.
That's the list we send offseason mailings to -- basically the Daily Update list. So no other mailings will go missing until next May. If JAA wants to be added back to the list then, he can let me know.I'm just the conduit and not the content author, but I can say that Joe is looking to give folks what they want. As social networking trends permeate through the internet and become common practice, we're increasingly seeing personal correspondence and marketing converge. Many like it, some don't -- no harm, no foul -- but increasingly, it is becoming an expected practice.
Well that doesn't quite get what JAA wants done.I was about to do the same and unsubscribe from Random Shots but if it is going to unsubscribe me from other emails in the offseason I guess I will just set up a filter.

What's funny is half the guys jumping on JAA's ### are adding their own commentary about how much you like Random Shots. If you like it, why post it here, just send a PM.

If JAA just sent a note to Joe, he would say thanks, and that would be the end of it. Joe would have no idea how his Random Shots are perceived on the board. Now you get to see two and counting pages on how much people like or dislike the e-mail.

Solid work here JAA. Solid work.

from the first line of RS, right next to Joe's picture:

Hi folks,

We do alot of insightful, thoughtful & serious features here @ FBG's w/some very smart people thinking deeply for you.

This is not one of those features.

pretty much tells me anything goes, so I'm not so revved up by the owner of the site going non-football related...truthfully, I passed right over it, cuz I had 0 interest in whatever all that was about

I hit the delete button when I get this every week, not interested.

To me, this is simple ...

JAA has the right to NOT like Random Shots. He doesn't have to read ANY of it, it's FREE. As has been mentioned above by Ravnzfan, the OPENING of Random Shots states it's purpose. Clear as day. Reading beyond that disclaimer is at your own discretion.

Was that hard? Don't want to read further ... then DON'T.

Meanwhile, JAA read FIVE paragraphs into the email and then FOUND something that so offended him he had to make a post here in the Shark Pool, after YEARS of getting Random Shots and never unsubscribing before this. This year has "gotten overly bothersome" to quote him, and yet he waits until he finds a PERSONAL reference by Joe to make a PUBLIC scene over it all.

The FIRST line of the email tells you how to UNsubscribe. BEFORE you even get to the Disclaimer mentioned above.

Sorry JAA, in my simplistic opinion, you made a big deal here over something that you could have avoided in MULTIPLE ways, (Delete, Unsubscribe, Private PM) for no reason other than to call out Joe over his mention of his son's musical aspirations.

Guess what? You wouldn't even properly identify the email in your original complaint, you called it, "my Fantasy Football weekly mailing". That insinuates that you expected it to contain ONLY pertinent fantasy information, which Joe has clearly stated from DAY ONE that it does not. You mentioned the name in your title, DUH, my email says Random Shots in the title, you never saw that and ignored it?

I'm no brown-noser, but your complaint is poorly worded and in bad taste under any circumstances. Complain about this type of content in a piece that is intended to contain PURE PAID fantasy info and you have a thread. Until then, show some discretion and respect towards someone who provides you, in your OWN words, "I love the FBG product, and I will continue to be a paying customer", who WARNS you explicitly when the content is NOT serious.

Tell us something about a player or a team. Or anything useful. You made a big deal about not being a fan of Random Shots to begin with ... feel better now that you have made it public you can't appreciate a Proud Father who wants to honor his son?

I applaud Joe for having the self restraint to have not posted in this thread.

PS: How about those Eagles?
