Joe-

Regarding this week's Random Shots, if you want a detailed explanation of why Redskins fans would boo the owner, I'd be happy to give you one. I think if you got the rundown, you'd totally understand. Suffice it to say that these days it goes a lot deeper than his efforts to put a winning product on the field.

Actually, if you want to get a good feel for it, just read last week's and this week's posts in the Washington Post D.C. Sports Bog:

Not sure which is worse. Random shots or "sleepers"

Ricky Williams is a sleeper this week after scoring 3 TDs last week and a top 10 RB in most leagues right now? Really?

[When I unsubscribed it took me off of all the mailings. So yes, I had to.
Whoops. I just unsubscribed this morning hoping to get off just Random Shots.Oh, well. I think I'd rather get no mailing than the majority of the ones I get. About the only really useful ones are the Breaking News ones, and Facebook/Twitter notifications are more timely than e-mail anyway.

If Joe thinks that pick was all on Chester Taylor, I'd say he's never worn shoulder pads in his life. If Favre throws that ball correctly, Taylor catches it.

Wrong. That ball went through Taylor's hands and most of the NFL talking heads that "worn shoulder pads" have stated it wasn't Favre's fault.

For the most part I've pretty much taken the email for what it is.....Joe's random thoughts each week. Sometimes I can relate, sometimes I cannot. Most times I read them and sometimes I do not. There have been times in the past that I didn't really care for them, but there was usually at least a little something in them that I found amusing or interesting. The hard luck awards at the end are actually the thing that had drawn me into them to begin with. Now, it's the unique pictures Joe links to the email. I check out every one of the pictures and usually find one or two to save for my own use later. Those pic's come in handy when laying some smack-down on league mates.

That's all I have to say as I'm not interested in ripping JAA for posting his opinion, nor am I interested in ripping those who have torn him a new one for doing so. I've been on that end before and I understand. Really, I do.

As far as the dupe email today, all I did was drop Joe a quick email letting him know that it looked eerily similar to last weeks. Soon after that, the correct one hit my email inbox. Thanks Joe.

There is a lot of quality content being provided here by the FBG staff. I feel it is my job to decide what I need and what I don't. I may not need a lot of it but I am glad it is here for me to choose from. It's a helluva lot better than having nothing to choose from. :goodposting:

Just curious - if skull crushing is as it sounds, perhaps an event where one attempts to crush skulls as a form of competition or entertainment, why would you suggest people where a helment? Do you get passed over for skull crushing if you have a helmet on?

Okay, I'll play along (even though it's just a silly little sig, like yours.)Suggesting my competition wear a helmet in a skull krushing contest is just good sportsmanship as I really wouldn't want to see them get truly injured to the point of having their skull krushed. It's just safer to wear a helmet (I do) and sound advice for a skull krushing contest.

Does that answer your questions?

By the way, I choose to have a sig which does not include the rosters of my 12 fantasy teams listed in detail. While I don't really care to see those types of sigs here, they are prevalent. To each his own.

:loco: Sabertooth doesn't like Favre so his comments aren't surprising.
So the throw was on target then? No. Anyone with eyes could see that.

It hit him in the hands. You are fooling yourself if you think Taylor shouldn't have caught that ball. Keep on hating!http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h7imxMNs0wY

I'm not saying he shouldn't have caught it. I am saying that Joe stating "They very well might have if not for a terrible interception returned for a TD caused entirely by Chester Taylor," is :bs: That ball was a duck thrown over Chester's head. It can be clearly seen at the :55 second mark in that clip. Favre has made that throw correctly probably over 250 times in his career. But that ball was poorly thrown. Was it uncatcheable? No. Was it 100% Chester? No way.

You couldn't be more wrong if your name was Wrongy Wrong Wrongstein.

A duck? Some Favre haters have claimed it he threw it too hard. :lmao: You guys really need to get on the same page.Taylor should have caught that ball...it is that simple.

I would guess that the random shots, while seemingly a simple thing, is easily one of the hardest / most time consuming pieces to produce as well. So I appreciate your work, Joe.
As a subscriber, I seriously hope this is not the case.
I don't think Joe does anything else in season other than Random Shots and posting the NFL injury update RSS feed on Sunday. So no worries that it's taking time from other content, Random Shots isn't the reason everything else that's promised for Tuesday doesn't show up until Wednesday morning, for example.
Hi Sarnoff,Yes, that's correct. As the site content has become better and better, I've stepped back more and let these really talented guys do what they do best. I'm certainly not too proud to accept the fact that many of my guys are much more qualified to write a feature than I am. I used to write a ton. Now I'll oversee the Players in the News each day with Clayton, Monday's Injury writeup with Mark and the Passing Matchups and the Rushing Matchups with Mark. And of course, as site owners, David and I are responsible for everything on the site, no matter who writes it. But as far as something written 100% by me each week, Random Shots is it. I'll leave it up to the readers to decide if that's a good thing or a bad thing but that's the way it is... :)J

Correct -- that's the list we send Random Shots to.
what other emails would you not get?just clarifying. i think JAA's solution is misguided, just like i think JB's inclusion of that blurb about his son was misplaced.
the inclusion about his son may have been misplaced or rather unfootball related in the random shots, but starting a thread declaring you have had enough, and using a proud moment a father had of his son as the straw that broke the camels back, was unnecessary in my opinion. he could have PM'd joe, david, or keith and asked how to be removed from the list, or started a thread just asking how to be removed without using joe's personal blurb regarding his son as the final jolt that fried his nerves.
I could have. I chose this route. Why so quick to judge?
Because choosing this route makes you appear to be a huge doosh. It might not be true, but if it walks like a duck and #####es like a duck ...
Hoser, C'mon Hoser. Be cooler to JAA than that. Folks are 100% right - he's obviously got every right not to like it. Only he makes that call. He has lots of company there. I don't always like it when I can't think of anything to write about. It's a goofy little article. Not a big deal if folks don't like it.J
