J. Finley going forward? (1 Viewer)

fantasizing

Rodgers has lost a little trust in him due to a few drops this season ?

Rodgers just has too many other weapons to throw to?

Finley being covered very well ?

Seems like he's not in the "much start" category any more, especially if you have a decent alternative.

Discuss....

Just not that good IMO. I dumped him for a backup kicker.

I would start Gronk or Graham over him. That's about it.

He's had one 30+ point game and you start him every week in anticipation of the next one. The trouble is, the lows are too low for where he was drafted.

I see the rest of their schedule as being competitive. Maybe one more gimme blowout when they visit KC but KC are improving and will be at home. As the season goes along they might feel some wear and tear and along with facing better teams, they should be in some competitive games. I think this favors Finley as you saw him catch 3 TD's at Chicago, a game that was competitive.

You forgot Hernandez.

The problem with Finley is that there are just too many mouths to feed in that offense. I am thinking he is going to blow up tomorrow with all of the db problems for Minn, but for all we know, James Jones or Cobb will explode.

Finley is a cover 2 beater. Minny plays a lot of cover 2. He's a good start tomorrow.

Teams are also going to start taking away Jennings instead of Finley sooner rather than later. Jennings has just been killing it so far. I know if I was a defensive coordinator looking at the Packers, I'd take my chances with Finley at this point and roll coverage to Jennings. At least Finley's dropped a few.

Think of it this way. Rodgers really has no need to throw into double coverage, ever. He's got Jennings, Finley, Nelson, Jones, Driver, Cobb etc to throw to. All of whom can get open. Teams have been rolling coverage to Finley this season, and thus targets are going elsewhere.

You cut Finley so you could pick up a second kicker? Dude...
I also have Gronkowki. Why keep Finley when he's not good enough to crack the starting lineup.Of course, if Finley had come anywhere close to living up to his ridiculous hype I wouldn't have had to trade for Gronk in the first place. 3-4 points with an occasional 20 point blowup just isn't going to cut it.

LOL, this is too stupid to be true.We all know you're joking. Well played.

Not joking.Finley's point production in my league:Week 1: 4.93Week 2: 6.77Week 3: 26.12Week 4: 2.57Week 5: 5.17Week 6: 1.21Now, other than one week where he scored three touchdowns, what reason do I have to hold on to him? I need consistency. Maybe if you're playing in an overall points league Finley is valuable. In mine, he's not.

Trust the farce, Luke.

Would u play Finley over someone like O. Daniels?
Obviously these things depend on your scoring system, but in my league Daniels has topped the 10-point mark 4 out of 6 times. Finley has one big week on his resume and that's it. If I had to choose I'd go with Daniels.

I bet I get more production out of Crosby over the remainder of the season than I do Finley.
Wait, you're serious? That's an absurd comparison. You'd have to compare the production you get from your current TE, or whatever you could have traded Finley for (hint---more than a WW kicker). There's no intelligent rationalization for simply dropping a TE1 who has Rodgers as his QB.Sorry, but you were impatient and you goofed.

This entire thread is absurd

Finley's current production doesn't make him a TE1. Sorry. Hype doesn't win leagues, results do - and nobody in my league wanted Finley for anything more than what I got.

Laugh all you want....I didn't get to be a four-time league champion by following group thought. :bye:

I tried to drop Finley in one of my leagues for a bye week defense sub, only to find out he's on the can't cut list. So I packaged him in a trade for Gronk. Granted it's a funky 8 team league but I don't think he's a top 8 TE right now.

I asked in the chat room during this weeks "The Audible" and FBG Jene Bramel said the Vikings don't play much cover 2 these days.

Finley was drafted #3 in my league. He's #5 at this point. The only TE with regular production week-wo-week is Jimmy Graham, a lucky hit drafted 8th. Of course, you'd expect good weekly production from Gates (drafted #1) but he's had issues which have pulled him from production. Hopefully he's back. And Witten, drafted #2, is producing at #3 but that includes the expected down weeks when there are no td's.

I guess my point is that the problem is with your expectations. You're not going to get every week production from every TE. That's a complementary FF position.

The other hilarious thing about dropping Finley to keep gronk. Isn't gronk on bye this week? Do you have Jimmy Graham too?

Didn't forget either of those guys. In fact Davis is my backup to Finley. Anyways, I seriously doubt either of those guys score more than Finley the rest of the way. Either way people are talking about Pettigrew and WW kickers and stuff in here. You people are nuts.

1. Rodgers has a lot of weapons to choose from

2. Opposing teams have been rolling coverage to Finley a lot

3. LHUCKS likes Finley but thinks Jennings is a stiff

Those are the 3 biggest reasons Finley is disappointing owners this season.

Starting Fred Davis over him this week.

Finley has had the opportunity to put up games with more points, but he had the case of the dropsies.

There are a bunch of Finley apologists in the SP.

Stick with him. The guy's got a TON of talent, but Rodgers has lots of options. Yes the results have been disappointing lately, but he's going to continue to be a big part of a prolific offense so ride it out and thank me later..

I have Finley and A. Hernandez, and bye week aside, I have no intention of starting Finley ever again. I'd drop him if necessary to fill in a legit scoring position, and would probably chuckle at the mad frenzy to pick him up. Anyone who did would almost certainly start him every week. They'd feel awfully good the one or two more weeks Finley put up giant numbers, but would be fielding a stiff almost every other week. I'll take the reliable receptions and yards. Right now, I regard Finley as no more than a bye week fill-in and injury insurance.

I don't see the guy as undroppable at this point, if you're in a league that isn't especially active trade-wise.

Picked up Shockey as a fill-in. Inefficient maybe, but at least I don't have to look at Finley's sorry unproductive butt on my roster for the rest of the season.

Ok...So the group-thought that you're rebelling against is "Jermichael Finley is worth more than nothing."Awesome.GL to you.
That last post was kind of a joke. But honestly, Finley is a very frustrating player to own because he'll give you 2-3 points a week, blow up for a couple TD's and go back to 2-3 points a week. The key to winning in this game is consistency and Finley just isn't reliable.Believe me, I tried to get more for him. There just weren't any takers.

Side-note: Graham wasn't a "lucky hit" for anyone paying attention during the last month of 2010.

I get that you were frustrated with his lack of elite production. He's had 1 huge game, and little else.I still think the potential (past success, high-octane offense, talent, Rodgers) warrants at least a spot on your bench.Only time will tell for sure.In my 10+ years of ff playing, what I've learned is the importance of patience. MOST of the time, talent will rise to the top and produce numbers. It seems to me that, maybe out of frustration, you started to "take it personally" with Finley, and were looking for a legit excuse to drop him.I disagree. We'll leave it at that.As a 4-time champ I'm sure your team will be fine.

that's funny.
What's funny is how ridiculously over hyped this guy was, and how many owners are still clinging to that. I got laughed at in one league for trading Finley away to get Witten. A thread was made on the message board of the league talking about how I "gave Finley away" for last years TE1. The hype was insane. Finley is going to have a few big games throughout the rest of the year, but as already stated, he's going to have quite a lot more duds. If I had him in dynasty still I'd trade him for someone more reliable while his name still holds elite TE value

It's not just the production...every time I see a Packers game, it seems, I come away more and more unimpressed with the guy. He's been around way too long to still be as raw as he is and honestly doesn't look like a real "football" player, if you catch my meaning.Maybe I'm wrong, maybe he'll turn into the monster he's always been hyped to be. I just don't see it.

No they are using him less than a year ago to keep him healthy and they throw the ball around more. At times he will be dominant but should be inconsistent.I let him go and picked up Fred Davis in a dynasty.People who thought he would be used like he was last year as the dominant receiver were simply wrong to rank him that high.
