J. Norwood's Coming Out Party! (1 Viewer)

Nope, a freak accident involving a monkey and a tow truck will prevent Norwood from getting to the Georgia Dome, resulting in him missing the game.

Or at least I can only hope.

 twilight i feel your pain, lost by less than 2 points in my other league, i hope norwood gets the points so i can at least advance in ours.

Or he could pull a Perez. Pascual Perez was a Braves pitcher who missed a start, circling I285 (circles around Atlanta) twice looking for the stadium (which is on the 75/85 connector in downtown).

he will disappoint once again.

8 carries for 35 and 0 td

1 reception for 12 and 0 td

dunn will likely crack 100 rushing and 2 tds

The Saints are actually fairly good against the run. Its the pass that gets them.

Well I need 106 points from him, so that's like 1000 yards and a TD, or like 11 TDs and 400 yards....

On the bright side, he is facing the Saints. :DI'm rolling with Norwood as my RB3 tonight. I love the matchup; fear his head coach and have absolutely no idea what to expect. I'm just hoping he gets at least 15 touches. I think if that happens he has a very good chance to do well.

Why the hype on him this week? First off, I admit, I am playing against him and he will decide our game. Because of this, I looked into him a bit. In a PPR league, he has scored more than 10 fantasy points twice. Last week, his big rushing game this year, was done on 11 touches... kinda hard to count on that. I know Petrino says "More touches for Norwood", but he's said this all year from what I see. Norwood on the year has double digit touches 4 times, with a high of 11, twice.

I'm just curious why all the optimism for Norwood this week? Perhaps it's wishful thinking on my part, but I just see a guy who had a nice week last week, showing the big play flash he has shown each of the last two years, but still a guy who just doesn't seem to get much opportunity.

Here's to hoping he stays around his average, and doesn't get more than 12 tonight.

I would totally take this result.
Oh yeah. What do people expect us owners want?! I'm happy to be able to START him for the first time. Lets hope it's not as disappointing as 12 of the past 13 weeks have been.

Why the hype on him this week?
Bit curious about this myself. Nothing that I've seen indicates anything new. Petrino again saying we need to get him the ball more, nothing new there. Only thing is Dunn's anemic 1.7 yds per carry last week makes people think he might finally pull the trigger.Maybe he will, but I haven't seen or heard anything to convince me he's decided to actually do it this week. Been distracted this week, maybe I missed something.

I think many people - notably Norwood owners - are banking on the belief that Norwood may have forced Petrino's hand with how he played last week and with only four games left in the season the time has finally come to give him more touches and see what he can do. I saw this blurb in Pro Football Weekly's "Whispers" Section on Saturday:"There are some things Falcons coach Bobby Petrino still doesn’t like about RB Jerious Norwood, including his lack of awareness and his shortcomings in picking up a blitz, yet Norwood may finally start to see an increase in carries. Petrino stated publicly that because of his explosiveness, he has to get Norwood more touches."

I hope for the sake of Norwood owners, and myself as a fan, that they're right. But I can't see BP doing anything that makes that much sense at this point. Oh well, pass the kool-aid.

the saints have been pretty solid against the run this year. i think they have allowed only one 100+ yard rusher this year. middle of the road overall (14th) in total rush defense. i don't see norwood suddnely turning it on...

The Saints' run defense has been more vulnerable of late. Steven Jackson rushed for 76 and a TD in Week 10; Ron Dayne rushed for 89 yards against them in Week 11; Earnest Graham rushed for 106 yards and a TD in Week 13.

Norwood averaged over 6 YPC in the first meeting against the Saints this season. He got the most carries of his career in a game against the Saints last season (13). I don't think he's a slamdunk but I do think this is a matchup he can take advantage of - especially in the passing game. Here are the reception totals the Saints have allowed to opposing RBs in the past month:

Week 10: 8 receptions

Week 11: 4 receptions

Week 12: 2 receptions

Week 13: 13 receptions

I do like Norwood more in a PPR league this week but these are very favorable numbers if - and this is the key point - Petrino is serious about getting him more involved.

ill be the first to congratulate Jerious if he blows up. He was on my Keeper League team for the better part of 2 years before I dropped him a month or so ago. :lmao: I thinkn this kid has serious effing talent and he deserves a chance to silence the dang critics.

Run Wild Jerious....for the haters (sealed zooks fate as said) ------>

Here's some more sugar for the kool-aid:1. Dunn has his 10k yds now. He has been shown more than enough loyalty, with 4 games left & nothing to play for, time to sit back and let the young buck show what he's got.2. Despite continued promises from Petrino all year about getting more touches for JNor, the thing that seems to have hurt his playing time is blocking. He got only 11 carries last week, but he was in on most of the plays and (apparently) had not problems with blocking. So, pass the cup, my season is riding on it now

Gotta love what was just said on NFL Countdown

"Petrino says Norwoods the most explosive guy out here, and will get more touches today. When asked who will be the starter, he replied 'Well, first play of the game, they'll both be out there...'"

...something like that...

Mine too. I've hung onto him the past two seasons, all I need now is 40 yards. Come on Jerious, show everyone what you can do tonight!! In all honestly though, I'm expecting around 8 carries, with a couple of receptions. Dunn will get 15+, no doubt in my mind.

these were some of my thoughts on whether to start or sit tonight.- All season long Petrino has promised more opportunities for Norwood. Last week was the 1st time it actually seemed like he was putting his words into action.- With ATL pretty much out of it at this point, why not see what you have in Norwood these last few games before the Draft ?- Norwood is a homerun hitter that doesn't need to be fed constantly to break the big one.- Hes done more with less in comparison to Dunn almost all year.- Both team's defenses are porous and can give up the TD any play.Overall it seems like the time is right for his carries to go up , him to show up in primetime game pumped up and show ATL what the future holds against a rival.A good recipe I think.15 carries 3 catches 150 all purpose yards , 1 TD

Has Norwood even been on the field since getting the ball on the first play of the game?

Dunn: 2 carries for -3 yards on that drive.

Ummm, well he started.

And they changed his first touch from a reception to a rushing attempt. So 0 points for Norwood so far.

Maybe when Petrino said he wanted to get Norwood more touches he really was talking about Snelling.

"We have to get Jerious touches," Petrino said.

Apparently in Petrino's world "more" is actually less. Norwood is averaging 8.4 touches per game entering tonight's game. So far through three quarters he has six.

Interesting math Bobby.

An 11-yard reception.

A 46-yard reception

Over 20 yards rushing on two carries negated by penalty.

I can see why Petrino doesn't want to use Norwood more. He clearly isn't capable of making things happen when he touches the ball.
