As injuries mount in most of our backfields thus far, how long do you hold on to your draft day hopefuls? I am forced to start Stewart this week vs. picking up the flavor of the week in starter backups. I am curious what the concensus on whether most of you still hang with your potential studs in waiting or sacrifice them by throwing them back on the waiver wire due to roster constraints and go with the buffet of fill in backs ala Betts/Ivory/Maroney/Bell/Kuhn/Morris for the all important weekly head to head win.

short roster i wouldnt see much problem w/ dumping him. that team is so bad that even if deangelo goes down which is unlikely to begin with hes still not a great start

Just last year...

Week 13 = 120 yards and 1 TD

Week 15 = 109 yards and 2 TD's

Week 16 = 206 yards and 1 TD

Week 17 = 125 yards and 1 TD

JStew carried me to the Super Bowl last year...how quickly things change.

I'm not dropping him. I played him last week and he luckily busted off a huge rec. TD

I still think it's too early unless you are absolutely hamstrung with roster issues.

:towelwave: i'm waiting for trade date to pass...DWill to GB...Stewart to start for CAR w/Otah back
It just makes too much sense that Carolina deal him by the deadline. I cannot imagine they resign him as he'll command too much money especially when you have a stud backup in Stewart. Your team is horrible so you might as well get whatever you can for him now.

He would be perfect fir for GB...the best of any previously speculated players. CAR might as well get something for him.
Ted Thompson wouldn't give up a third-round pick for Lynch. What makes people think he would give up the same or more for DeAngelo Williams, who isn't even available according to reports out of Carolina? Ain't gonna happen. As far as Stewart, there is some silver lining despite the poor overall production. He has scored each of the past two games and should have scored from the 1 in Week 2. Call last week's TD fluky if you want but it still counts. Fluky or not, the TD potential is starting to appear and we know he's a strong source for touchdowns each season. The problem is he was viewed as a Top 20 RB in most circles before the season and he isn't close to performing at that level now. A big reason is the Carolina offense is a mess as everyone knows.I'm bullish on his talent so I'm holding despite the bad vibes all around the Panthers at the moment.

This team is bad, and unfortunately I knew that when I picked Daily Show, but back to back 10 TDs seasons were too tempting to pass up.

Schedule gets much lighter after the bye...with the exception of BAL, PIT and ATL twice, the Panthers will face SF, STL, NO, TB, CLE, SEA and ARI. If Clausen can make strides, there may be some lanes open against these weak run defenses

Or else not

Uh...maybe the fact that he is universally thought of among evaluators as one of the Top 5 Backs in the NFL talent wise?

Which means he'll likely command a higher price tag than Lynch, correct? If that's the case - and again there have been no reports that Williams is available and Panther beat writers have been shooting that idea down for the past couple of weeks - then it makes it even less likely that Thompson would trade for him. Thompson does not like parting with top draft picks in trades for players. He simply doesn't. It's why the Lynch deal stood less than a 1% chance of happening and why it's highly doubtful a Williams trade would occur if the Panthers suddenly made him available.Thompson is VERY set in his ways as a GM. He doesn't like to break away from the way he does things. This is a GM who wouldn't part with a top draft pick to get two future Hall of Famers (Moss and Gonzalez) and he just passed on the opportunity to get Lynch for a very reasonable price. There is no reason to believe he would suddenly change his approach for DeAngelo Williams or any other back. If watching Brandon Jackson and John Kuhn stumble about for the past three weeks wasn't enough to get him to change it's doubtful another bad game or two from them is going to change his mind.

Albatross is a great way to describe this guy right now, but I agree with posters saying you need to hold him. Way too early to cut bait on a guy this talented who was battling an injury pre-season and doesn't have his best run blocker, Otah, in the line up right now.
