Williams received the highest tender, which would require teams to surrender first- and third-round draft picks to sign him. The team is interested in re-signing him.

Sure they could trade em, but I doubt anyone gives up a 1st and 3rd for him.

I doubt this sticks. I don't even know how they can legitimately do this, given that by current definition, he should be an unrestricted free agent (5 years in the league). Maybe a ploy by the Panthers on the off-chance the new CBA allows this. I doubt it. Or a .

lots of teams are trying to tender 4th and 5th year FAs. from what i understand, it won't hold up and these guys--Dew, Rice, etc--will all be UFAs unless the new CBA has a big surprise in it.

When the owners opted out of the CBA, it made 2010 an uncapped season. That also made the requirement for free agency 6 years of service. Some teams are acting as if those are still the rules until told otherwise.99% chance that tag won't stick on DWill, and he'll be free to sign elsewhere. Question is where? Who pays for 28 year old RBs?

Normally, that is a problem but I see DWIL as THE FA Rb this year (if we ever get to that being a possibility). I think after all is said and done, he ends up somewhere where his value will be perceived as high (especially if he hits the mother load and goes to Indy or NE...doubtful but wishful tinking). And JSTEW will finally get the perceived buzz that people have been eager to give him.

I think J-Stew is going to go way to high for my taste. Elite talent but is always dinged up...at least the first three years anyway...I just don't see how he can take 250-300 carries and be there for you in the playoffs...D Will has had his own injury problems...but he's the one I take just because I presume he will choose to go to a better team...that will protect their investment...as much as you can in the NFL and he will be there for you come FFL playoffs.

Lav Coles rarely missed games for the Jets, but he was always "gimpy" and I am sure it effected his play. I would put Stewart thus far in the same boat. From a fantasy perspective, I can't stand when my guys "gut it out" only to put up pedestrian numbers...certainly is good in real football, but not so helpful to my team.

By rule in the existing CBA, any season that is uncapped the rules change for free agency. In the old system, players gained free agency after 4 years. In an uncapped season, the threshold changes from 4 years to 6 years. That's what snagged Logan Mankins and Vincent Jackson this past seasons.

There still is no salary cap, so at the moment teams can tender players to protect their rights. Whether that will remain the case or not is obviously subject to whatever new terms and conditions arise from a new CBA.

I should have been more clear...it wasn't about missing games. True he has only missed two. He's only had 200 + carries once. He seems to always be questionable...unable to practice...unable to play preseason...etc. If he is having this much trouble averaging 10-12 carries, what will he do with 20...consistantly.

I generally agree that he's one of the most overvalued players out there, but in his backers defense - they were right 2 out of the last 3 years.

The thing is being "dinged up" hasn't slowed him down. The only thing that has really kept him from producing at a high level is the fact that D'Angelo Williams (another stellar back) has been on the team. Look at what he's done in0 all but a couple of the games that Williams has missed. In almost every one of those games he has put up stud numbers.
