Jack Bauer Lives? (1 Viewer)

I know someone mentioned it before, but how many years are there between Day 1 and Day 9?
Approximately 18 and 1/2 years after Day 1.

Season 1: March 2002
Season 2: September 2003
The Game: March 2004
Season 3: September 2006
Season 4: March 2008
Season 5 Prequel: March 2009
Season 5: September 2009
Season 6 Prequel: April 2010
Season 6: May 2011
Redemption: January 2015
Season 7: March 2015
Season 8: September 2016
Live Another Day: September 2020

Dates gathered from Wiki 24, but 2002 doesn't coincided with a year that a presidental election would have taken place, so the years may be off by 2. But we're talking about a fictional universe, so the dates don't have to match.

Huh?
Those are timeline dates. Not air dates. http://24.wikia.com/wiki/Timeline

edit: I notice it does say "Sample Timeline", so the dates may be wrong, but the time between seasons doesn't change. It's still 18+ years even if the timeline started in 1996. It appears that info taken from all 24 sources (including books, etc) is where they got the sample timeline.

Day 9

The car that Chloe and Jack steals has a road tax disc with an expiry date of 31-05-2014, which would place Live Another Day between June 2013 and May 2014, assuming the tax disc was valid.

In "Day 9: 3:00pm-4:00pm", Adrian Cross mentions in dialogue that his group Open Cell has been active for the past six years. As the Open Cell website places the organization's founding in 2008, this would place Day 9 in 2014.

In "Day 9: 5:00pm-6:00pm", Prime Minister Alastair Davies states there had not been a successful terrorist attack in the UK for 7 years. If he was referring to the July 7 bombings of London (which killed 52 and injured a further 700), this would place Day 9 in 2012. If he was referring to the 2007 Glasgow airport attack (which injured 5 people and is regarded to be a failed attack), this would place Day 9 in 2014. However he may have been referring to a different real-life, or entirely fictional, attack.

During various episodes of this season car number plates contain the number 63 as the third and fourth digits, this means the cars were manufactured sometime after September 2013.

Awesome! So just to clear up what you're saying, it could technically either be September 2020 or September 2022?

If Live Another Day takes place in 2014, then Day 1 takes place in 1996. It's likely they didn't pay attention to details of years when filming. It's also possible (as also mentioned on the Wiki) that Day 1 started prior to 2002, although it's also possible that it took place after 2002. For the timeline to work, however, the year gaps have to be there.

Also from the link:

George Mason's phone in "2:00pm-3:00pm" gives the date as September 25, 2002, putting Day 1 in 2001. However, it also shows the time as 12:15pm.

...Indicating that they didn't pay attention to prop details that much in many episodes.

1 trillion times better then the Margo kill. BEST KILL EVER! :excited:
Not even close to me. The Margo kill was far better.
I agree the Margo kill was great..

But the beheading of someone that tortured Jack and Audrey was needed for a very long time so, IMO, had the bigger pay off. :)
I liked Jack throwing a meat cleaver through that dude's eye better than both of those.

Live Another Day takes place 221 months (about 18.5 years) after season one.

Season one took place on the day of the presidential primary, which should be March 2000. But there are other incongruities that point to 2001 instead of 2000 (e.g., somebody's age compared to the year he was born).

In any case, Live Another Day takes place sometime in 2018 or 2019.

Just finished the episode after the Heller bombing. So good. No British security or military to be found. This show is made for the MST3K treatment. Love it!

Sounds like Fox would like to do more of 24.

"Similarly, Rice would like to see more of 24 following its resurrection this year. "I loved this season of 24, but we haven't had a specific conversation about it coming back yet," he said. "I'm sure we will in the future. It's a fantastic franchise. I think it still has many more stories to tell." Missed the finale? Watch it here."

Back, with less Jack? http://tvline.com/2015/06/01/24-spinoff-fox-new-character-2016-kiefer-sutherland/

Jack Bauer is passing the torch stopwatch.

Fox is developing a 24 spinoff that would revolve around a new twentysomething male terrorist hunter, , franchise overlord Howard Gordon confirmed to TVLine Sunday at the Critics Choice Television Awards.

While there are no current plans for Kiefer Sutherland’s Jack to appear, it’s entirely possible his iconic character could pop in and out on a guest-star basis.

The project would find the new male antihero working alongside an older, more seasoned female agent (not Yvonne Strahovski’s Kate Morgan, although she also may also appear). It would also launch as a limited series, similar to last year’s acclaimed 24: Live Another Day, but I’m told the offshoot could easily become a long-term property for Fox.

24: LAD vets Manny Coto and Evan Katz will serve as writers and EPs.

Last month, Gordon told Yahoo TV that the spinoff would maintain the “real-time concept” and that the story “is in the tradition of 24.”
I'm torn. I'd watch hoping it would be good. But I feel like Jack is what made 24 great. Not sure if it would work without him.

Without Jack its just another network action series that has to make a name for itself over time like 24 originally did.

Why not just do a spin off with Strahovskis character? They already took the time to develop her character and she's shown she can carry an action based series.

So it is an entirely different show, because 24 without Bauer in the lead isn't 24, but they are calling it 24 to help bring in an audience.

I'd absolutely watch that. She's the main reason I watched Live Another Day. I loved 24 back in the day, but it had run it's course. There's just too much other great stuff on now. With no Jack or Sarah Walker, I'm out.

I've said for YEARS that they need to look for the next "Jack Bauer." For awhile I thought Tony Almeida was being groomed for that, and well.. hehe, we saw what happened there.

If they do a reboot without Bauer, it will feel odd, but I'll definitely watch. Would love to see Jack pop in and out, however. And yes, Chloe is a MUST.

Picked up to pilot, to be produced this winter/spring:

http://deadline.com/2016/01/24-legacy-series-black-hero-jack-bauer-fox-pilot-1201683557/

After the 24: Live Another Day event series, which extending the original series with another chapter featuring Jack Bauer & Co., Fox is going for a full reboot with 24: Legacy, a new ongoing series with new all-new characters. Fox has given a pilot order to the project, from the 24 trio of Howard Gordon, Manny Coto and Evan Katz, which has Brian Grazer as executive producer. Original star Kiefer Sutherland is not expected to reprise his role as Bauer or be creatively involved in the project.

The new 24 series will revolve around a military hero’s return to the U.S. and the trouble that follows him back – compelling him to ask CTU for help in saving his life, and stopping what potentially could be one of the largest-scale terror attacks on American soil. I hear the twentysomething man, Eric Carter, was conceived as an African American, and the actors considered and approached for the part so far all have been black. Depending on how the casting process goes, I hear the character’s ethnicity could change but he will remain diverse. The female lead is a woman with a long history at the agency, a former head of CTU. 24: Legacy which retains the original’s real-time format with split screens and complex interweaving storylines, each episode representing one hour of an eventful day. Stephen Hopkins, who directed the original 24 pilots, is on board to direct the 24: Legacy.

There will likely be mentions of former CTU members from the original 24 series, including with photos, but there are no plans for any to have ongoing presence on the new series.

The pilot order comes after Gordon, Coto and Katz delivered a script, written by Coto and Katz, in December, which was very enthusiastically received at Fox.
Coining "Black Bauer" right now.
"Black Jack"?
