I agree, Reid would be a very good fit.I couldn't understand how he lasted so long to begin with. They took a step backward with him.
It will be interesting if Andy Reid becomes available...I think this is a perfect team for what he brings to the table.
Same here.I couldn't understand how he lasted so long to begin with.
If I were the Eagles and plan on firing Reid, I would make sure I wait to fire him after the Giants fire and replace Coughlin (if they choose to do so). I am not sure that Jax would be that attractive to Reid. The RB situation is just up his alley, but the wr corps are bare (like the Pinkston/Fred Ex days) and he is going to have to deal with Gabbert (although he may A.J. Feeley a serviceable QB, so who knows). The one thing Weaver gives his HCs is time (two in franchise history), so the pressure will not be there to make things happen in year 1 or 2.I agree, Reid would be a very good fit.I couldn't understand how he lasted so long to begin with. They took a step backward with him.

He got a big contract extension after the 2007 season with 20 mil guaranteed.'meanjoegreen said:Same here.'Hairy Snowman said:I couldn't understand how he lasted so long to begin with.
I would guess most play some form of PPR. In my straight PPR, McCoy is ranked #1. In my .5 PPR, he is #2 overall for RBs. In my .25 PPR, he is #2 overall also. I think it is clear that he is getting his points regardless of catches...MJD would be $$$ in a Reid offense. If Reid took over for the Jags that will kill MJD's production. Unless you are in a PPR league.
Yeah- highly doubt it happens, but MJD owners should be begging for Reid to end up with the Jags.I would guess most play some form of PPR. In my straight PPR, McCoy is ranked #1. Horrible offensive coach. Decent defensive coach.
Now they need to get rid of Gene Smith and all will be good.
McCoy and before him Westbrook were both top five RB's for many, many years. If Reid took over for the Jags that will kill MJD's production. Unless you are in a PPR league.

Also, Jaguars have extended contract of GM Gene Smith for another 3 years.

Here is the Jacksonville draft history from their existence. Gene Smith took over as GM in 2009 but was a scout and director of personnel since 1994.
Now, look at those draft classes and explain to me in crayon how he is "good at his job".
Worst WR corps in the NFL. Worst QB in the NFL. Blaine Gabbert may get a little better, but he is far from an NFL QB. Crappy O-line, Crappy secondary. They overpaid for two injury prone LB's in Pozslusny and Session. He builds the team with his decisions and I don't see very many smart decisions being made on his part. The defense overachieved due to JDR's influence. JDR is a solid d-coordinator and I wouldn't have been opposed to him staying on in that capacity.
I can still hope that the new owner cuts Gene Smith loose and we find someone that can find talent.
Probably something to do with the sale of the team.don't disagree at all with the move but why make it now? Why not do it after the season?
As opposed to what they've done thus far?Hopefully this brings total chaos Sunday vs my SD defense.
probably to hype up the espn game monday night. seriously. why else would anyone watch that crap other than fantasy. now they get to see the new coach in action.don't disagree at all with the move but why make it now? Why not do it after the season?
You try and make two points that contradict each other. On the one hand you say Gene Smith made poor moves on the defensive side of the ball and then you laud JDR's influence on the defense. This year JDR was told to leave Mel Tucker and the defense alone. This was the first year JDR had no say in the defensive play calling or personnel and the defense went from 28th to 4th. So I can't see how both your statements can be true. Either Gene Smith's moves had a lot to do with the huge improvement to the defense or JDR not being involved is the reason the Jags went from 28th to 4th. There is really no way both your statements can be true.JDR gets a lot of credit for the success the Jags have had on defense in some circles but the reality is that the Jags had some very good defenses when Mike Smith was the DC. When Smith left for Atlanta the defense regressed greatly until Mel Tucker was given full control of the defense this season. It might be a coincidence, as fans we rarely get the full story. But for some reason the Jaguars decided to take the defensive controls away from Del Rio and that same season the Jaguars improved 24th places in team defense.Say what? The reason is that he is good at his job. He's been extended for some reason, per Mort on Twittermortreport Chris Mortensen'Warpig said:![]()

And I was right. Both Luke and Blaine have been way better at the vertical game this year than David would have been while on IR.Wadsworth is the guy that said they would be as good or better with Luke McNown/Gabbert instead of Garrard and hyped the great vertical passing game they were going to have with McNown at the helm.Say what? The reason is that he is good at his job. He's been extended for some reason, per Mort on Twittermortreport Chris Mortensen'Warpig said:![]()

I agree that Mike Smith had a lot of influence when we had good defenses. But I just can't wrap my head around JDR not being allowed to have any say in the defense since he was a defensive coach to begin with. Just doesn't seem to make sense.I'm willing to give Mel Tucker a chance to see what he has. But Gene Smith is still worthless and should go as well. Yes, JDR needed to go but I'm hoping he won't be the token fire. Hopefully Khan realizes that Gene is clueless and boots him to the curb eventually too.'Wadsworth said:You try and make two points that contradict each other. Fred Taylor had some things to say as well:I could not stand JDR! Thats why i retired early. Hate Fake People
http://content.usatoday.com/communities/thehuddle/post/2011/12/former-jaguars-rb-fred-taylor-on-jack-del-rio-hes-not-a-head-coach/1"At the end of the day, he's not a head coach," former Jaguars RB Fred Taylor told Yahoo!. "He's a great defensive coach. But he's not a head coach."
Taylor, whose 11,271 rushing yards are the most in Jacksonville's history, played for Del Rio from 2003-2008, though he felt his tenure with the team was cut short by the coach.
"Why do you think I'm not there?" said Taylor, who retired ceremoniously as a Jaguar in September (after two years with the Patriots) but strongly feels Del Rio played favorites.
"There wasn't any falloff in my production. I expressed my willingness to take a paycut. I just wanted to be there and be a part of the community. I wanted to finish my career there. Just because we had this new running back. All we had to do was switch roles. 'Fred, Maurice (Jones-Drew) is going to be the starter.' Fine, no problem. I wasn't a virus in the locker room. I worked my ### off -- everything."
Taylor indicated he preferred playing for Tom Coughlin at the beginning of his career in Jacksonville and for Bill Belichick in New England at the end, saying Del Rio sent mixed messages.
"With Coughlin, if you came in, if you overstep, you're screwed," said Taylor. "With Jack, you never knew what you were getting. You don't know if you'll get a hardass one day, a buddy-buddy one day. You never really knew.
"It was a lot of gray area, which later in my career I didn't buy into."
True, but he retired before his skills were gone. He went for 70-1,023 his last year.More to the point, there don't seem to be any players showing support and a lot taking shots including at least 2 of the Jaguars 3 greatest players.Jimmy Smith retiring at 36 isn't that early.
Jimmy Smith was 26 when he caught his first TD pass. So while 36 isn't early, he only had a 10 year career. I think that is more what he was thinking.Jimmy Smith retiring at 36 isn't that early.
I would say Tony Boselli is third of the Jaguars top 3 and he and Jack don't get along. Tony is a lot more... political? so I don't expect similar comments from him. But he has made it clear in the past. You might have a point there but 2 of the Jaguars 3 greatest players doesn't really mean that much. How long have they been in the league? Regardless, not a good thing when veteran players have bad things to say about their former coach.
