Jacksonville at Pittsburgh (1 Viewer)

Explain this to me.  Whistle blew at 2:12.  ####.  They may have been able to use the two min warning for the 3rd down play had they used timeouts in front of the warning.
If you call it at 2:12, then you commit to using the other right after.  If 3rd down is at like 2:06, you give the Jags a chance to pass (since the clock will stop at 2:00 anyway). By taking them after, you make the Jags run it to ensure the Steelers use their TOs to get clock stoppages.

FG was made, so it is probably all for nothing anyway.

Perfect call on the onside kick, it was just a terrible kick. Either way they had to stop them in 3 downs, so you have your team a chance to get the ball back right away. if the kick actually goes 10 yards and jags still recover it then they wouldn't have been in FG range if they would have stopped them on downs

timeout before the warning: you save 10 seconds max.

timeout after the warning, you save 30 seconds max.

No clue why anyone would choose the first option on 1st or 2nd down...on THIRD down it's a different story

They had 2 time outs plus the warning....

It was 2:12.  Positive.  Even if it were 2:08, why wait?  You lost 8 seconds.
see my other post. saving it until after the break you potentially save 38 seconds instead of 8 (or 12) plus, as someone else mentioned, you force Jax to run instead of throw

They will score here and Tomlin will kick off LOL. Its a shame this window is closing because we had NO defense to get us to the Superbowl

yeah, what other fanbase leaves a playoff game in the 2nd round early? when Ben has thrown a few bombs like he has for TDs, that is just crappy fanbase
I wouldn't leave at that point but I know fans do. Not sure about other fan bases, you have a study you can link?

You're assuming they only had one timeout.  They had 2.

TO at 2:12.  Jags run.  TO at 2:05, or let click run to 2min so they have to run on 3rd down.  TO at 1:56.

Or what they did...let 12 seconds run down to 2min warning on 1st.  TO at 1:56.  TO at 1:50.

I agree that you don't call a TO with less than 6-7 seconds to go before the warning, but calling one at 2:12 does not commit to using the other right after.

Big Ben has not looked like he has enjoyed playing this season at all. I really don’t see him coming back next year.
