Jacoby Jones or Andre Johnson or Kevin Walter (1 Viewer)

Carolina Hustler

Footballguy
Jones:

1 4.9 pts vs Colts - 2 rec 29 yards 0 TD's 6 targets

2 17.3 pts at Redskins - 6 rec 53 yards 1 TD's 9 targets

3 10.1 pts vs Cowboys - 5 rec 51 yards 0 TD's 5 targets

Johnson:

1 6.3 pts vs Colts - 3 rec 33 yards 0 TD's 5 targets

2 33.8 pts at Redskins - 12 rec 158 yards 1 TD's 17 targets

3 10.4 pts vs Cowboys - 4 rec 64 yards 0 TD's 7 targets

And now Johnson hobbled with a HAS... Not looking good.. Owen Daniels has looked like a shell of his former self...

AJ expects to be in the game, but is being addressed as a GTD, and labeled as Questionable. He certainly won't be full speed..

So, do we do the unthinkable and bench the beast? Without the 8 extra targets in week two (for Johnson) Jones could be outscoring him at this point... Or at least very closely matched in FF points..

Since it's a 4:15 start, I'd fill out my lineup with one space open, or penciled in.

Watch for gametime updates. If Johnson plays, start him. If he's a scratch play Jacoby Jones.

I'd play AJ if he starts, because even if he faces Nnamdi, if he's good enough to play, he's the best WR out there. Dont bench your studs (if healthy)

Kevin Walter:

1 10.9 pts vs Colts - 2 rec 29 yards 1 TD's 2 targets

2 31.4 pts at Redskins - 11 rec 144 yards 1 TD's 11 targets

3 12.4 pts vs Cowboys - 3 rec 34 yards 1 TD's 4 targets

Or maybe this is the answer, not sure how I missed it....

How do you get to Blooms rankings?

I just checked the football guys cheatsheet and they have AJ #30 in PPR Leagues this weekend.

I'm benching him for Lee Evans believe it or not.

I think they need AJ to play to be a decoy all day and have Nmamdi locked on him to free up JJ and Walters. If AJ doesn't play they would put Nmamdi on Jacoby Jones and he will be invisible. Either way I would bench AJ this week if you have a better option somewhere. If AJ plays he will be limited as his ankle seems to be getting worse and having an All Pro CB on him all day doesn't bode well for his chances this week.

If I owned JJ i would start him if AJ was also playing. If not I would make other arrangements.

If AJ is active, I just dont know how you can bench. Decoy factor or not + Asomugha is not likely to shadow him, according to Jerry McDonald.

I'm benching AJ for Eddie Royal in a PPR league. Even if he was a 100% it's a bad matchup.
how is it a bad matchup ? Oakland has given up 2 PASSING TDS PER GAME THIS YEAR
AJ doesn't have the greatest history against Oakland.2009: 2 catches for 66 yards2008: 2 catches for 19 yards2006: 1 catch for 9 yards2004: 6 catches for 115 yards and 1 TD [Aso didn't play this game]
Interesting. All the signs point to not starting AJ today. I'm not that thrilled with any Texans WRs for that matter, but I do think Jacoby Jones will see an increase in production. If Owen Daniels is healthy (hamstring) he could actually be the biggest play today. He's a GTD himself. I see lots of problems. If OAK can stop Arian Foster, they have a good chance to get the upset.

Last 3 times they've met AJ got zilch, and now he's banged up and Houston has other options, I'm not sure how you couldn't consider benching him... Or at least downgrading him in the ranking...

I started Walter last week and watched the entire Cowboys-Texans game. He did ok in the end in fantasy points catching a short TD, but didn't get his first catch until garbage time with about 3 minutes left IIRC. I was sweating bullets as I had some bench players who did better than him.

I don't know if that means anything, but Jones was much more of a factor when the game was still a game. I was expected a ton of targets for Walter as the week before he exploded.

I agree with the first sentence. I think if he is active it'll be to catch balls. He has undergone platelet therapy on his ankle this week in hopes of being ready to play today. You don't do that sort of thing to be a decoy, and you sure don't run around the field on a bad ankle all game long, risking future weeks, to be a decoy. If he plays he's there to be a playmaker.

I would normally agree with you on this....but the last 3 times he faces Asomugha..he had 5 catches total and NO TD's...now with an ankle hampering him, how can you start him this week?.......any other corner except him or Revis I agree, but I don't think he has a high ceiling today.

Agree with this line of thought and I am also starting Jacoby over Walter. Walter was nowhere to be found the first 80% of the game and only had his day saved by that short TD grab. I feel much safer with Jacoby and I think he is going to be getting more looks.

I really want to start Jacoby (on 2 teams) but with all the uncertainy and Oakland with the #2 pass defense I'm going with other options:

Clayton over AJ & Jacoby

MSW & Ward over Jacoby

I know we're kinda pressed for time and all....especially since most of us gotta have rosters set soon....but

Anyone know how the #2 WRs do against the OAK secondary?

We know Namdi is a beast, but they have given up 2 passing TDs each game. Are their other CBs good? Safeties?

Given the number of weapons the Texans have at their disposal, and the fact that Andre Johnson hasn’t practiced this week with a high ankle sprain, cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha isn’t likely to shadow Houston’s top receiver the way he did Larry Fitzgerald.

“Nnamdi’s not the focal point of this game,’’ defensive coordinator John Marshall said. “If we don’t give an outstanding team effort, so what if 80 catches one ball and you lose the game. That’s not the focus.’’

Johnson was listed as not having practiced, although Cable said he went through individual drills. Houston coach Gary Kubiak said Johnson is a game-time decision, Cable declared him ready to play _ which is the only sensible way to look at it.

“He very much will play. There’s no doubt in our minds,’’ Cable said. “ We don’t even look at it that way. If we did, it really wouldn’t change anything. It may free up a couple of guys to maybe get more involved in some things. He’s going to play so there’s no thought of that.’’

Asked what makes Johnson special, Raiders cornerback Stanford Routt said, “ I think it’s just the animal in him. He’s fast. He’s strong. He’s big. He’s physical. He’s not afraid to go across the middle. He has everything you’d want in a receiver. Everything.

I started him over Hartline / Nanee / Mason

I benched him in the league where I have Ocho / Nicks / White and rolling with Forsett in the flex

IMO I can't see how you roll AJ out there today.

From Rotoworld:

Andre Johnson-WR-Texans Oct. 3 - 12:32 pm et

Although Andre Johnson (ankle) thinks he will play, various members of the Texans don't think he will, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Johnson is a true game-time decision for his 4PM start against the Raiders. He told people inside the Texans on Saturday that he planned on playing, but it sounds like he's really struggling on that ankle. Even if he's active, Johnson figures to be limited and defended by Nnamdi Asomugha. Owners need to have other options at the ready.

I would fully expect AJ to play at least some limited snaps as a decoy and the occasional target to keep the defense honest.

As for the other guys and which one performs better, flip a coin on who you think will benefit the most. I think it will truly be a case of who breaks a long TD or if one of them manages to get a favorable matchup or loose in the secondary that Schaub recognizes.

Oakland hasn't played any good passing QB's yet, but they are still giving up less than 150 passing yards per game but well more than 100 on the ground nearly every game. I would expect a lot of Foster today.

Andre Johnson will be inactive for Texans Andre Johnson (ankle) will be inactive for Sunday's game against the Raiders.Kevin Walter and Jacoby Jones will be the starting receivers for the Texans. Although it's a big blow to Johnson's owners this week, it's probably for the best. Constant aggravations of the ankle sprain would only lead to long-term problems. Look for Johnson to now be healthy for Week 5. Oct. 3 - 2:18 pm etSource: Adam Schefter on Twitter
