Jamaal Charles Thread: Hall of Famer? (3 Viewers)

Felt good after Sanchez' performance, now my butt hurts...I read about the Steelers D stiffening up lately, didn't expect this, but Steelers wanted this game more...

Glad I didn't go to BWW to watch this game. Can't believe they didn't give him more touches. Just awful coaching.

Jamaal Charles says he's healthy after battling a host of minor ailments in 2014.
Charles missed just one game but was slowed by ankle, knee and hamstring issues. "I was frustrated more last season than I’ve ever been because of all of those injuries," he admitted. "I was frustrated because I didn’t feel my body was right the whole season." Despite the frustration and injuries, Charles averaged 5.0 yards per carry. Headed into his age-28 season, Charles has racked up 1,511 career touches, but there's little reason to believe he'll cease being a top-shelf RB1.

Rotoworld:

Jamaal Charles said he wants the Chiefs to upgrade the offensive line in the draft.

Charles, who lost stud center Rodney Hudson in free agency, channeled his inner Chris Johnson with these quotes. "It was challenging last year playing with guys — some got hurt, some got suspended. So it was hard playing. I never knew how crucial it was to my career that I needed linemen." Despite the struggles of the line, Charles still averaged 5.01 YPC and finished as fantasy's No. 7 overall running back. He'll be an elite producer even if the Chiefs' hogs project to struggle once again.

Can you blame him? He only had 5 YPC.

Which is actually a downgrade from where he usually is

Jamaal Charles has dropped his weight to 204 pounds and reiterated that he wants to play six more seasons in the NFL.

Charles, 28, is under contract with Kansas City for two more years. He says he's changed his diet with an emphasis on longevity. "I feel like I’m young all over again," said Charles. "I feel like I am 20, 21. I feel good, I feel healthy, I eat right, I take vitamins, I do yoga. I am doing everything I am supposed to do to keep my body up at age." Charles has the all-purpose game to last longer in the league than most running backs, even if he becomes more of a rotational passing-down specialist later in his career. Charles' current re-draft ADP is No. 3 overall.

The Chiefs are prepared to give Jamaal Charles more rest this season.

"You want to make sure he is healthy late in the season," OC Doug Pederson said. "So if that means giving a guy like Knile Davis some reps — whatever you have to do to keep (Charles) healthy for 16 games, you do that each week." Charles remains the focal point of the Chiefs' offense, but it doesn't sound like they want him to average the 22 weekly touches he managed in 2013. Battling various injuries, Charles averaged a more modest 16.4 touches in 2014. Even if that number is again in the 16-18 range this season, Charles is a no-brainer RB1.

Yea that makes sense. Give your #1 playmaker less touches to save him for the golf course. Great idea Little Andy.

Passed on him at 1.12 in ppr (start 1-2RB, 2-4WR, 1-2TE). Well actually traded the pick and 2.1 for 1.9 and 2.4. May regret it, but prefer Calvin or Gronk in this format.

Don't blame you one bit. I've passed on him every chance this year in ppr for guys like Brown and Dez. I'd rather get Murray early second or even McCoy late second to pair with a killer WR than roll dice on him.

I go the opposite. I think Charles is a better play than McCoy or similar and I have no problems "Settling" on a guy like AJ Green on the come back.

There are the SUPER WRS but overall there are many WRS. Rb is a different story. After about 7 names, its a relative cliff. SUre, the actual number of productive RBs will end up being more but it is much harder predicting a Justin Forsett to come out of nowhere or a J. Hill to unseat Gio at the right time than it is to compile a list of 20 safe WRs. I mean, guys like AJ Green, Cobb, Keenan Allen, all outside the top TEN Wrs. There's one to be had anywhere I want him in the 2nd or early 3rd if I just watch how the draft plays.

Jamaal Charles is responsible for more KC wins than he is losses. He was largely responsible for KC being in position to win the game. KC will still win the division. I just don't think Denver is all that good.

Oh yeah. I;m not throwing him under a bus. He's awesome. Everyone is entitled to a bad day. Was just laughing that anyone even had to go down the road of him saying it was his fault. It was obvious but I'm sure he will redeem himself and his team gets it.

Guess we will call that redemption accomplished.
