no, they can play davis while salting away leads. they can play davis while running out the clock. they can give davis a few series a game. they can play davis at the end of the half when the coach runs up the gut 2 times rather than trying to get down the field for a score.

Oh I agree. All I've been saying this entire thread is that Charles' workload would not be as it was in 2013. That was a once in a career situation that wasn't going to be repeated, despite the wish casting of some people in here.

I never said Knile wouldnt be a factor. I was only challenging your "Charles days of a fantasy stud being over" statement.

Knile can be involved and Charles can have 100+ yards and a TD. I'm pretty ok with that. In today's nfl, anyone getting mad about their rb1 getting 22 carries is kidding themselves.

He is not nearly as big a part of the offense as he was last year, to the point where in the all important waning minutes of today's game it was Davis getting the carries. If Reid's history is anything to take in to account, he likes a lead back. Davis will still get 5-10 carries a game but ideally, Andy likes having his lead back get about 18-25 touches (rush and catch) a game. I think as long as Charles is healthy, its still his show in the realm of 70-30 split.

Charles had roughly 70% of RB rushes last year. At the half of the Patriots game, he had roughly 70% of RB rushes. Barring blowouts, he'll probably get 70% of the rushes. And be the passing back. He's a stud, plain and simple.

He got 67% of the rushes today. Same as it ever was.

2014 - 10%

Games 1 and 4 (through q2 2 min warning) - 48%

Game 4 (through q2 2 min warning ) - 56%

Not sure where Andrew is getting his numbers from, but I am using pure rushing stats. Today he had 22 of the Chiefs' 39 carries, which is 56%. It's down a little from 2013 but not as much as it seems from watching the games.I think what makes it seem worse is his lack of utilization during key parts of the game, particularly the 4th quarter when they are trying to salt away the win.

I'm not counting Smith's rushes. The 70% from last year didn't either.

the only reason he had 70% last year was bc he didnt play in week 17. in games where both were active charles had 83% of the rb carries and 72% of the rb catches (didnt count mccluster. did count gray, sherman and knile)

When Jamaal Charles scored a touchdown Sunday against San Diego, he had a violent collision with Chargers cornerback Brandon Flowers, sending both of them to the turf. Flowers left the game with a concussion, but Charles kept playing.

Maybe he shouldn’t have. Charles said on ESPN Radio that he was seeing flashing lights afterward, which is one of the symptoms of a concussion.

“It definitely hurt,” Charles said. “It’s like, I woke up — I mean, like, a couple plays later I was seeing light bulbs, like, light bulbs around my eyes, and I was trying to catch them. But I was in the game so I was like, ‘Alright, let’s get the ball and run again.'”

So why wasn’t Charles removed from the game? Charles said he tried to avoid having to go through the league’s concussion protocol. Charles previously suffered a concussion in January, in the Chiefs’ playoff loss to the Colts, and his absence from the rest of that game may have been the difference between the Chiefs winning and losing in Indianapolis. As a result, Charles said he doesn’t want to go through the concussion protocol because he wants to be able to keep playing to help his team.
