Jamaal Charles Thread: Hall of Famer? (1 Viewer)

Fat Andy decided Charles looked too good, so he so he decided to give the ball to everyone else so they didn't feel bad.

To be fair, Charles did have 23 touches. How he only got 1 on their last 2 drives is crazy, though.
You mean you didn't like that redzone situation where Smith screened to DAT, scrambled right for 0, and then threw the ball away? Agreed!

That's the drive that made me go nuts. Charles did get first two cracks on that drive but how the Christ do you it hand it off or throw to Kelce down at the goal but instead try to force it to 5'7" Thomas?

The real killer was not involving him at all on the drive before Oakland ate the whole clock up. That bit Andy's fat ### and good for them they lost.

I'm happy for the 18 points but was really hoping for more due to being on fringe of playoffs and going against first place team that has Manning. And I know what's coming from him: 400+ yards and at least 4 TDs especially after last week. He needs to pad those lifetime regular season stats.

On a Thursday night game no less. These have been fantasy hell. I was just talking to somebody yesterday about how Oakland would probably play this one tough. I was happy to get out of it with 22 points.

Thankfully Charles is super Elite and made a great play on the TD pass. But at the end if most weeks you know Reid left so much more on the table. Yes I am a greedy *******.

Thread is pretty funny. Guy puts up 22+ on 23 touches and everyone's #####ing.
This is one of those rare occurrences where real life football is actually feeding the moaning (at least it is for me). I mean, I'll take the 20 with a smile on my face but it drives me crazy that the Chiefs misused Charles in key situations in this game. I was looking forward to a very meaningful game against Denver next week.

How they don't run at the goal line instead of set themselves up in a 3rd and 6 and have to pass and how they don't funnel the last few drives through Charles or even Davis is baffling. THE ONE thing you can't do in that situation is have short 3 and outs and throw the ball and kill the clock. All you need are a couple of first downs. I'm not a Chiefs fan but this is very disappointing to me.

Reid has always reverted back to these mistakes.

I figure they were thinking everyone will be keying on Charles so they attempted to "surprise" them. However, until they stop him I'd certainly give him a chance at least once at the goal-line either a run or pass. Didn't care much for the final drive. It looked like the RB screen and quick outs for 7-8 yards were there all day. Instead you down out trying to get Alex Smith to go down the field. Just get 1st downs, one time Charles got about 8 yards on a screen and it took 4 seconds.

I own Charles but my observations are not fantasy related per say, it just happens that giving your best player the ball in critical situations would also have helped my fantasy team.

Kelce and Charles should be touch monsters, but I get the feeling Reid wants to justify his job and ends up outsmarting himself. Charles had 19 td last year and it worked out pretty well. Maybe Charles got dinged up though, who knows...

I think the Thursday game with everyone watching makes it harder for Charles owners to deal with. If it happened amidst the other games on Sunday, his lesser use wouldn't have been as noticeable unless watching the whole game.

Truth be told, in PPR leagues, this was one of his better weeks this year.

For once I don't think Reid's useage was as bad as many are claiming here.

KC was not passing the ball very well at all on O in the first half and Charles was running quite well in that first half and it amounted to 3 points.

In the second half KC was passing the ball well and looked really good and it amounted to 17 points.

There are times in Reids career where he sometimes leaves you with head scratching decisions about RB useage, but I don't this is a time. You can pick 8 to 10 calls every game for every coach and coordinator in a given week and question it.

Truth is in the game last night Charles still had 23 total touches. He also had 7 targets. KC did not lose the game for lack of use of Charles.

Since he returned from his injury, he's actually ahead of last year's touchdown pace. 11 scores in 8 games.

The crazy thing is that, after 2012, I think most Charles owners were convinced that he was going to be a monster yardage guy with low TD totals, sort of like Tiki Barber (who averaged 2200 yards from scrimmage and just 10 TDs over his final 3 years). Kansas City was pretty terrible at the time and didn't seem to have much hope of improvement.

Instead, his 30 touchdowns over the last two years are four ahead of 2nd-place Marshawn Lynch (in one fewer game), and 12 (!!!) ahead of Matt Forte and Eddie Lacy in 3rd place. Through five years, Charles had 24 TDs on 936 touches. Over the last two, he has 30 TDs on 507 touches.

This transition to "Jamaal Charles, biggest touchdown monster in the NFL" is one of the more surprising developments of the last two years.

Best RB in the NFL. Not even close, really.
funny how people were saying this about shady in the off-season
I ignore the warning signs because he was on my team but the ad deals, the cockiness, declaring 2000 yards, losing 5-10lbs. They were all there screaming at us that this could be a let down.

JC though, I was skeptical early on but I think this guy wins me a championship this year. I need a 4 TD game week 15 or 16 please. Or both. Both would be nice.

I've never thought McCoy was better than Charles. The eye test has always told me that Charles was and is better. But hey, that's just me. :)

I think so too and I wonder if most people would consider him right up there with AP as best of the post-Tomlinson era if he hadn't been dicked around by Haley for a few years.

Agreed. I thought he was the best RB in the NFL last year. Nobody ever even talked about him in that realm though. It was all Shady and AP. I never understood it.

They would. And they still will unless Charles gets unlucky with injuries. Charles has the profile of a guy who can play for a long time. Should be pretty safe through age 29/30 with duration upside from there.

That tricky Andy Reid. He is really fooling Denver by not giving JC the ball.
Charles is going to struggle tonight rushing the ball I think.
Yeah, when the..what do you call it? Quarterback? Doesn't hand it to him, yeah he is going to struggle running it
Charles owners are a fickle bunch.
gone are the days of throwing him screen passes...sigh

Own Charles on my two playoff teams. All I can say is glad I already clinched. Can't believe how flat they came out at home on SNF.

Yes. Yes we are. Get JC in on defense or something. I need points!
