To me, the cream rises to the top. This year from the start of training camp everyone who watched this team knew they were going to be a total disaster. New coaching staff, GM, trade Gonzo, the whole bit, total complete rebuild...then you have a knucklehead RB in LJ who was suspended last year, wanted to be traded in the offseason, etc. and you have a guy in Charles who is a 2nd year player that was drafted rather high. This was the perfect opportunity for the staff to see what they had in Charles and no one would blame them, it makes too much sense. Instead they've muddled through the season with LJ avgeraging a ridiculously bad 2.7 ypc and getting 85% of the carries (compared to 15% for Charles). Do they look to give the ball to Charles? Nope, in fact they deactivated him for a game and there were questions whether he would be deactivated for other games. Sometimes your stuck behind a guy on the depth chart and there's nothing you can do about it but in this particular case if he had anything to offer I can't understand for the life of me why they wouldn't roll with him. They have absolutely no allegiance to LJ, this coach traded an icon in Gonzo and benched/demoted their best player in Bowe, yet they don't give Charles a sniff....why?I've watched a number of KC games over the past 2 years and there is nothing to me that I've seen that would indicate that this kid is a star in waiting. If that were the case I think the coaching staff want to get him on the field as much as possible as opposed to having to play Charles because their crappy starting RB did another stupid thing to get himself suspended. Even still there's a lot of talk that K. Smith who's coming off the PUP this week and hasn't taken a snap all year could take a lot of the carries. As a waiver pick-up that's fine, take a shot but I would be absolutely shocked if Charles amounted to anything.
