Jamal Lewis - Questionable (1 Viewer)

Was Lewis downgraded from probable to questionable during the week (leading me to believe he tweaked the hammy during the week and less likely to play today ) or was he always listed as questionable? If anyone can let me know that info it would be helpful since I need to make a decision on Lewis by 1:00 since that is when my backups start their games. Thanks.

This is what I found on MFLNews Articles > Lewis a game-time decision Week 1 Published Fri Sep 5 5:09:27 p.m. ET 2008 (TheHuddle) The Medina County Gazette reports Cleveland Browns RB Jamal Lewis (hamstring) was limited during practice Friday, Sept. 5. He is listed as questionable for Week 1 and will be a game-time decision.Analysis: Jerome Harrison would be the guy to start if Lewis can't go, so if you handcuffed you should be in decent shape by going with Harrison either way. If you didn't and only have Lewis, look somewhere else. Not only is this a matchup against a good defense, but starting Lewis this week has implosion written all over it.

Clayton just reported on ESPN that Lewis wants to play. He will test the hammy during warm ups but Clayton "thinks" he will play.

ESPN's John Clayton reports that Jamal Lewis (questionable, hamstring) is likely to play against the Cowboys on Sunday. This game has a 4:15ET start, but Lewis has seemed likely to play all along. He was seen taking part during the media portion of practice all week and there have been no indications his injury is serious. Lewis has a difficult matchup, but he remains a fine bet to score because he'll get the ball on the goal line.

Clayton also said something about "it's not a tight hamstring, it's a sore hamstring". While I don't know what that means (or even if the quote isn't transposed) can one of you TIVO guys get the quote? However, he said it, he seemed to think it was positive news for Lewis.

I believe he said it was a tight hamstring but it was nothing serious.

That's what I heard too -- "it is only a tight hamstring" and he wants to play

The greater question is how well he will fair while a little gimpy against the Dallas D.

He will probably give it a go. If the game gets out of hand, though, why would he or the team push the injury?

would you consider LenDale White a decent option?

He's not hurt, and he'll get the ball, so, yeah, he's a decent option. I'm going with Burleson.

Against the Jaguars? No way.
Would anyone start Ronnie Brown, Chester T or Deuce over LEWIS this week????
Please don't do this in the injury threads!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ahhhh....week 1 and it's already happening!!! FF stress is already getting to me!

So there's not going to be any change of news until game time, which means we've most likely got 10 mins to decide whether to start an alternative in the 1pm games or hope that Jamal starts in the 4pm game

I think I'm going to have to roll with Jamal. I have Edwards, which is some consolation (if Lewis doesn't start or has a limited role, the passing game gets more looks). My other RB's are in a committee (Stewart and Brown).

NFL.com:

Browns inactives: QB Ken Dorsey (3rd), WR Joshua Cribbs, FS Brodney Pool, LB Kris Griffin, C Rex Hadnot, DT Ahtyba Rubin, G Ryan Tucker, TE Martin Tucker.

Analysis: QB Derek Anderson, RB Jamal Lewis and WR Braylon Edwards are all active. Lewis could lose a few carries to RB Jason Wright, so start him with caution.

I don't get the lack of news? I don't have the ticket, but to be honest, this is something I expect FBGs (I'm a subscriber) to have some news on. Oh well, going with him just because he is active.

:football: can only report what the nfl reports. It's not like Cecil's on the sideline watching warmups and talking to trainers.

i'm not doing it. Selvin is getting the start for me
Ditto, can't chance it. McFadden in.
I am starting him over Forte.
Rotoworld) Jamal Lewis (hamstring) is active and will start Sunday's afternoon game against the Cowboys.Analysis: The Browns' inactives are KR Joshua Cribbs, FS Brodney Pool, OL Ryan Tucker, G Rex Hadnot, TE Martin Rucker, LB Kris Griffin, NT Athyba Rubin, and QB Ken Dorsey. The Cowboys' front seven is stout, but Lewis is always a pretty good bet to score and it doesn't appear that his carries will be scaled back much.

Ummm, not really. When Cleveland and Dallas are warming up, you would expect some news on pre-game shows. Lewis was easily the top injury (Gates was probably) toss-up. Last year I remember a lot of notes right before games on players, not just the active/inactive lists. Oh well, it looks like he is starting, so hopefully, he does well.
