Actually, they'd be thrilled if he is 100 percent by midseason in 2010. But they're unlikely to be discussing a long-term contract any time soon.
Daniels almost surely will get another one-year contract and be forced to prove himself all over again next season.
Texans would have the right to match the contract, or let him go and receive compensation based on whatever their offer to him was.For dynasty, the important question is whether the injury hurts or helps the chances of Daniels resigning in Houston.
This article assumes the Texans will sign him to another 1 year deal. I'm not so sure another team won't try to jump in and offer him multiyear.

What about Dreessen ? He's a pass catching TE and he could blow up with Schaub tossing the blimp. If you have a spot on a deep dynasty roster, Casey is worth the add since he can be had for peanuts right now. This is a good situation to be proactive rather than reactive. casey is a good talent and there are a lot of things up in the air with daniels right now. I see Casey as a low risk "hold" right now if you have the room.
He has 25 catches in his 4 year carreer ... why would you make a comment like this? What about Dreessen ? Dreessen has never been a starter in his 4 year career, QuimQuam. If you had decided to do some research instead of throwing out useless comments like this, you would find that Dreessen was a pass catching TE in college with 43 catches in 2004, in his final year at CSU. He is not known at all for his blocking skills which leads me to believe he will be used primarily as a pass catching TE while Owen Daniels downHe has 25 catches in his 4 year carreer ... why would you make a comment like this? What about Dreessen ? We don't need Casey to block, as long as he's on the field. Why didn't we see more of Casey this year? Was he hurt?Thoughts on Casey next year? Thinking about picking him up before the Daniel's owner.Dressen has probably developed into a better blocker than some here are giving credit. IMO, better than Daniels at this point although not good enough to be considered a blocking specialist. In the passing game his hands seem fine, but he does not have the athletic run after catch/ability to get deep that separates Daniels from the pack at TE. The Texans should be able to operate thier offense fine with him as the starter, but in the passing game he probably is limited to the short to intermediate game. When Casey comes back, his skills are closer to Daniels in the passing game but his blocking is still a work in progress.
Casey has played in various offensive sets during Daniels' absense, but I don't kow why he has not played more nor gotten more looks when in the game. Everyone likes his pure hands and athletic ability so i suspect that he can develop into a greater threat. As getting an increased role in the future anything besides I don't know or wait and see is pure speculation with no basis in rumor/coach speak, etc.We don't need Casey to block, as long as he's on the field. On Daniels everything I have heard is that he is expected to be ready to go...Like with any injury though, you really don't know, so you are doing a good thing snooping around this situation.Scooby1974 said:Will Daniels be back for the beginning of next season? If not, does Casey hold value? Trying to get a read on the TE position in Houston. Any other homers care to chime in?
