James Jones (1 Viewer)

He basically started the first game, too. Only had 5 or so fewer snaps than Nelson and Jennings so on paper he really won't see a major uptick in snaps. If Jennings is out, Cobb is the guy that will get an extra 25 snaps or so from the first game. That's not to say that Jones won't be productive, though, just that he'll have a similar workload to week 1.

I'm starting him over Cobb, though I think they are close. I just like Jones' home run ability even though Cobb could very well have more catches.

If no Jennings, flexing him over Malcom Floyd/Kenny Britt. If you don't start him with Jennings out, why is he even on your roster?

James Jones is currently ranked ahead of Cobb on the latest rankings in standard scoring and neck and neck with Cobb in PPR, after earlier in the week being buried in the non-startable area of the rankings. He projects out to a solid WR2 this week. Hard not to be tempted to start Jones, given his number of snaps and the elite QB that is throwing to him.

it's the uptick in targets that's most important.which should happen

If last week is any indication, the Packers top 3 WR's all had roughly the same amount of snaps. Remove Jennings and you'd think Nelson, Jones and Cobb would likely have similar workloads this week. The interesting tidbit to me is that the Bears biggest achilles heal last year on defense was that they couldn't stop the Packers over the middle - where you'd likely see Finley and Cobb. All are very intriguing plays, though.

Because you have better options?
Of course a lot of people have better options... Those who drafted WR's early and often. This thread is for those who drafted RB's and elite QB's/TE's early and waited on WR's. In this case, a James Jones (who may have been drafted in the final few rounds as a lottery ticket) is an exiciting prospect to consider over some of the middle round WR's. If James Jones doesn't mean much to your team because you already have Calvin, Fitz, Julio, and AJ, you are wasting your time reading up on James Jones.

Jordy will see most of the coverage. Jones and Cobb will outproduce him tonight.
On paper, I would agree. If you're a defensive coordinator going against the Packers, the only thing you should care about is taking away the big play over the top. If the Packers want to give Cobb the ball around the line of scrimmage, you give them that all day long and hope they bog dog or turn the ball over at some point. There's just no excuse for letting Jordy Nelson torch teams over the top every game like they did last year.

I think Finley and Cobb have big games. The Bears cover 2 defense limits the Packers but does open up the middle of field. Finley has had some good games vs. the Bears. If Cobb is out of the backfield tonight, that could be very successful and mean big numbers for him

Once upon a time, I started Ruvell Martin because Jennings was hurt. It did not end well.

Which doesn't mean much for tonight, granted. But Driver could get the stats just as easily as Jones. Jones cost the Packers a game against the Bears in 2010 (?) with a couple dumb fumbles.

If Jennings sits:

Nelson and Jones will get the same playing time they got last week.

Cobb will get similar snaps with a slight uptick.

Driver will get a huge uptick and take most of Jennings PT.

All that said, the question is who will get the most looks, since Jennings is the #1 or #2 option on most plays?

My guess is Cobb will be the one to benefit most, but don't be shocked if Driver comes out of the grave and puts up a good game.

I like Cobb is on the verge of a sprols-like season.. I can totally see 120 total yards and a TD tonight.. not to mention an exciting return.. I'm starting him as a WR#4 though, so not a lot at risk..

so only if i have those 4 WRs? good, i'm safe. i can still participate in this thread.:whew:

Jones is regulated to flex play option for me as I have Dez and AJ Green as my two WRs. Coming down to Morris and James Jones and I think I'm gana roll with Morris even though his role is undefined when it comes to the Skins playing from behind.

Agree. i think they intend to give driver more time if Jennings is out.Overall, I don't care much for playing Jones tonight. In addition to all stated above, I think if the Packers get a chance, they will make a point to get Benson involved (I doubt they want to have two weeks into the season appearing to be a pass-only team). I think Benson will have some motivation in him tonight for a couple of reasons, and IF that transpires, that's a TD or 2 that comes out of the equation.

After looking at Jones' stats when Jennings has sat, specifically vs. CHI, I'm confidently giving him the nod over Maclin. Good luck to all those in a similar positions as me.

Did the exact same thing. Who's smarter than us?

Essentially everyone else. Luckily, I was facing Arod so it may be a wash in the end. This game was just awful from a fantasy perspective.

You were warned.
