James Laurinaitis (1 Viewer)

On The Rocks

When I think of James Laurinaitis I can't help but think of Dan Connor (Penn State / Panthers LB).

Am I way off base? Or is Laurinaitis a guy with the potential to be a LB2 ?

I am not as high on him as others and I believe that if he overachieves, it will be to a LB3. The Rams have never been generous in their scoring and unless he shows big play ability I doubt he outperforms last yrs middle, Spoon. It is nice though that he is a 3 down backer and he will most likely be the #1 rookie LB this year...down year for rookie LB's.I look for Spoon to be the best LB of the group this year now that he is back in his natural WLB role, followed by the rook.

Somewhere in between...as long as he has a 3 down role. He's not a play maker so his value lies primarily in tackles. I think he'll be a steady but unspectacular LB2 for as long as he has a 3 down role, but given his questionable coverage skills that role is liable to go to 2 down at any point. For redrafts sake the Rams don't have any viable replacements on the roster so that job should be safe for this season at least.
