Jason Campbell deserves some credit (1 Viewer)

He got benched and all but as the focal point of many offseason stories and the supposed new leader... I think he deserves some credit here for Da Raiders.

They don't stink. The games aren't ugly. Who else would have had patience with Bey- who isn't half bad all of a sudden?

I'm sure others deserve credit but I thought someone should throw some Jason's way

Ms. Campbell you must be very proud that your son is actually getting paid to do what he does. Man he stinks.

While that's a fair point, if the same point was used against others it would also prove Jason's value.

This makes no sense...he sucks and got benched, leading to the Raiders not quite sucking as much as we thought. How does Campbell deserve any credit for this?

I was making a joke that the original poster must be Jason's mom. Because only she could think Jason deserves ANY type of credit. He's just awful.

Campbell was drafted in the first round by Washington and they tried to develop him through 5 different OC's. At some point, it has to be the QB and not the system. He's been to this point considered an average QB, but he has shown statisical improvement each year.

If it weren't for Oakland's horrible O-line, that got him crushed in preseason week #3, who knows? Could he still be the starting QB now?

He got crushed into the dirt by an unblocked journeyman 49er, suffered a neck stinger, and it seems like he lost his mojo. The team is really handling him. When he got benched, he told reporters that he could not comment, by team orders, instead of just saying "no comment". I think he's not too happy about the current situation.

He at least signed an extension, and should make some nice dough till he moves on from the league.

I am pretty sure though, that he'll be back as Oakland's starter before the season is over, because that O line wont protect Grads from a concussion or worse either.

Soooo.... who starts next week?
Looks like it's Jason Campbell, back in the saddle. He looked very solid in relief last week.
Campbell has always had the ability to look good for a game here and there. That does nothing to seperate him from the other 60-100 non-starting QB's on an NFL roster right now. He is a below average QB and has proved it time and again as a starter.

Have you been watching them at all this year?Campbell hasn't played in almost a month, and the lone bright spot on the team is the reemergence of McFadden. So I guess maybe "The next Jim Plunkett" deserves credit for holding the clipboard better than any other backup QB in the league? Maybe he's dead on with the gatorade mixing?

If Campbell gets credit, how much do you give J. Russell?
When I posted this...the Raiders didn't stink, there was an improved attitude about their team and the way they played. They are starting to fall apart and look like/play bad like previous Raiders again.Quoting your Russell post because when he was their QB, not just him but several players were (insert not nice word) less than a consummate professional.

I think Bush is better than McFadden, but if you want to say the RB position as a whole is their lone bright spot I would agree. Bush was able to do everything McFadden did and more, and let's not forget that he earned the starting before the Broken hand. i fully expect the Raiders to rely heavily on Bush for 60/40 split and get DMC in on passig downs, and lined up on the slot to take advantage of his speed.
