Jason Hill (1 Viewer)

I picked him up in my dynasty league and was wondering if he was worth hanging onto? Is he even healthy?

I dropped him weeks ago because he has been on in the inactive list every week. Until he starts at least being on the active roster it is hard to justify rostering him in fantasy. SF offense is hard to learn and I think it is taking him a while.

They are definitely planning to use him as WR3 from what i've read. He's been nursing a hamstring injury and should be ready to get some opportunities in these next few weeks.

Hill's had a hammy issue for most of the year. He will be on the field when healthy.

Info below from Matt Maiocco at the Santa Rosa Press Democrat

With Taylor Jacobs gone and Bryan Gilmore back, is Ashley Lelie the No. 3 receiver? Nolan said Lelie is the No. 2 split end and Gilmore is the No. 2 flanker, until Jason Hill gets healthy. Gilmore said he expects to be the No. 3, resuming the role he had a year ago.

"Bryan Gilmore gives us versatility at all the spots," Nolan said. "When we go to three wide he gives us the same thing."

Gilmore worked out for the Raiders on Monday. He was on his way home, going through airport screening, when he got a call informing him to remain in the Bay Area. The 49ers wanted him back.

I think the team will push Hill into the No. 3 spot when he's healthy enough to return to action. Hill sustained a hamstring strain the Thursday before the Pittsburgh game.

"Right now he'll be a limited practice player, so we'll see where he's at," Nolan said.

When asked which receiver will fill the role of No. 3 this week, Nolan said he'd rather not say.

Theres no doubt that Hill will be given a chance... either this yr or during camp next off-season.... if you can find a little roster space in Dynasty.. I would hold... The WR1 situation in SF should be wide open next season (unless they bring in some talent)

If you picked him up in a dynasty, you should not have expected a lot in his rookie year. You obviously drafted him for the long term. The only way you should cut him is if you think he will be a bust. If you are going to cut players in their rookie years because of lack of production, you are better off not drafting them in the first place. You have to be patient with rookies. Some take longer to develop than others, especially WRs.

Sound Advice here. I'm standing strong on him ending up the 3rd best of the class longterm behind Bowe and Calvin. James Jones and Jacoby would be my tie for 4th.

I understand that but sometimes you are not afforded the luxury of being patient with rookies. If you are in contention in your league, have multiple guys with injuries and byes and need a roster spot, then you've got to make a tough decision on whether to hold onto a rookie who might contribute in the future or go for the win. That's why you ask for insight to help in the decision making process.
