Chris Mortensen, of ESPN, reports the Washington Redskins have released DE Jason Taylor.

They just couldn't give someone of his production 8 million dollars.

I don't on any level think Taylor is done. I'd love to see him on a contender.

If I were his agent I'd call the Ravens ASAP.

Local insider info states that the reason was that Taylor was asked to restructure (slightly) so that 500K of his big salary would be based on showing up to off-season training events with the team. Apparently he said no (as he likes to be in Florida vs. DC, go figure) and that's a big reason he was released.

ESPN reported Jason Taylor did not want to participate in the "Off Season" team activities due to his desire to spend more time with his family. He was happy w/Skins, but they wanted him there more as a leader. They used the contract issue as a tool.

There are reports that 12 teams are asking about Taylor, but it's doubtful he will sign until July to be able to spend time home. His home is still in FL and he will be there.... John Clayton reported he could resign with Miami.
