Broncos WR Walker Appears Certain To Play Sunday

The Denver Post - [Full Article]

Testing his surgically repaired knee on the artificial surface of the local sports bubble Thursday, Denver Broncos wide receiver Javon Walker ran routes with authority and appears certain to play Sunday, which would be his first appearance since the season's third week. "Oh, yeah, I'm playing," Walker said. "That's the reason I've been busting my butt in practice this week, so I would play."

I wish I could "play him with confidence"...but I'm probably going to get cold feet with Walker this week. I don't like Berrian's matchup, but I have more confidence in him right now than I do Walker.

I'd like to, but I have too many other options. Don't see me starting him over Evans, Hackett, C Henry, or even S. Smith (car). I have to start 3.

I don't know about Berrian, but I won't be playing JW until he proves he's back to productive (notice, I'm not requiring 100% strength). FWIW, I played Roddy White ahead of him, and am quite happy with that. Also played Roy in another league ahead, not so happy with that, but what can you do?

I traded away Braylon Edwards to get Javon in my lineup.
Hopefully Walker takes away some of Marshalls looks!
It all depends on if Walker or Marshall gets the Bears top CB (which is nothing great at this point). For what it's worth, the Bears only have 6 INT's this year. I say Walker will help Marshall's numbers by taking some of the attention.
I'm inclined to start very subpar fantasy receivers like I.Bruce, K.Curtis over Walker until he shows me he can produce again. I don't mind looking like an idiot for 1 week for not starting him if he has a big game his 1st game back. Show me the money Javon Walker!!!

Where were you when I needed you? I started Walker over White, chances are it was a bad move, but I have to wait and see what Walker does. If the Broncos thought he might not finish the game he wouldn't be out there. If the Bronco's thought he couldn't contribute like the play maker he is he wouldn't be out there. When healthy he's a number 1 WR. With that being said I can see someting like 4 catches for 50 yards, but it's still worth the gamble.

i wonder how many andre johnson owners said the same thing?

I would have a hard time starting him this week over another decent option. Even if it's a lesser option compared to a healthy Walker. Luckily in the only league I own him, I've already clinched this week and have a first round playoff bye next week, so will get 2 weeks of seeing him before I have to decide to start him.

my choice is Walker or R Curry. I'm inclined to let Walker show me he's OK with this week's performance before starting him.

You guys agree?

coach Mike Shanahan and Javon Walker (knee, questionable) say they expect Walker to play Sunday against the Bears.

Walker experienced knee swelling after going through complete practices Wednesday and Thursday, and was limited Friday. Due to the unpredictable nature of a swollen knee (see Ahman Green), there is still plenty of reason to believe Walker could be inactive. Consider him a classic game-day decision and have alternatives ready. Brandon Stokley would start if Walker can't.

This is way different than Andre Johnson for a few reasons.

AJ never was potentially playing and then didn't play. The info was very clear and AJ was pretty honest about it. The Texans went out of their way to make sure he was healed before they tried to wheel him out.

With Walker you need to see him in a game first. I want to see the interaction with Cutler a little bit as well. If Walker blows up his 1st game out I will be shocked. I own Walker anmd Andre Johnson on the same team in a couple of leagues and have been waiting patiently however I was much more comfortable wheeling Johnson out last week than I would be trying to play Walker today. I am going to sit him for 1 week.

I also have Lee Evans and Santana Moss in that league so there is no real rush on my part to bring him back. I would hate to play Walker and end up with a zero. Hopefully he is ready to roll in a week or two when the playoffs are ready to roll.

May I ask why?
I had Braylon, Calvin Johnson, Javon and Andre Johnson...we only start three so I pawned off Edwards to upgrade my qb from Kitna to Romo.
I would like to know how this turns out. Would you be so kind as to let us know the numbers from here until your league playoffs start?I'm inclined to think that (Romo-Kitna) < (Edwards-Johnson). And that's assuming Walker is what you hope him to be.

I have my doubts "if" he plays and his production if he even does. I'm going with Stokely in 2 leagues.

I get so few of them right anymore... :D

HOw much did he play and was he even targeted at all???
I'd guess he was on the field for 12-15 snaps, maybe a few more. He had 0 targets. Cutler never even looked his way. It was clear Walker was never going to figure into the game plan today as anything more than a decoy.
