Jay Cutler outlook for dynasty (1 Viewer)

I just drafted Cutler in my vet draft and looking for some opinions (and validation :own3d: ) on his future as QB in the NFL. I like the way Cutler looked in the last few games last year and took him over Leinart, E. Manning & Big Ben, but what do others see in Cutler's future?

-Shanahan seems very high on Cutler to start him on a team fighting for playoffs

-Cutler averaged 16.5 fantasy points in his 5 games last year. Pretty impressive for a rookie.

-Had a Td:Int ratio of 1.80 in those games

-Some draft analysts thought he was the best QB in last year's draft class

Was last year just a glimpse of what to expect from Cutler?

Cutler is going to be a star for a long time. He exudes confidence and as we all know has that cannon of an arm. And he's in a good system with Shanahan. Go well.

IMO the best QB out of last years draft. I have him in 2 of my dynasty leagues. What a better coach to have to help develope a young qb. A great system and support to surround him. I think (and hope as I have him in my leagues as well) will be a star and put up great numbers over the years.

I had Eli Manning ranked ahead of him but to each his own.

I had him behind Eli but ahead of Leinart and Ben for young QB's. Shannan and the offense in Den has been extremely consistent and Shannan is not going anywhere. I really like Culter's upside and with Marshall and Walker (2 very solid receivers to throw to) Cutler is going to be a good QB for a long time.

He is a solid dynasty QB.

Last year was '83-esque, really. All 3 of the top guys look like franchise players.

Cutler really proved something to me in the SFO game when he drove the team the length of the field and threw a TD to tie it up with less than 2 mins to go. Sure, they lost the game and he stuggled some in OT, but he was clutch on a huge drive with the season in the balance, and that's an encouraging sign from a rook.

I have no questions with regards to his ability. My only question is whether he'll be a good fantasy QB. I can see a lot of 210 1-2 td games due to the fact that they are a run 1st team.

In my dynasty league, Cutler and a 3rd rounder was good enough in a trade for Reggie Williams, Santonio Holmes, Dallas Clark, and the 1.07. :wall:

To me, that's a Drew Brees-type of value, which says a ton about how some view Cutler.

Cutler is a dumb Terry Bradshaw.
I thought he's more on the smart side, being a Vandy boy and all.
Obviously this guy is dumber than Bradshaw if he doesn't know about Vandy's academic accolades.
Vandy is ranked in the top 50 in every major graduate category across the nation and 18th for Undergrad. For graduate schools, 34th in Business, 3rd in Education, 42nd in Engineering, 16th in Law, and 18th in Medicine.Yeah he's the dumb one.

Football players(or any student athletes) are not held to the same admission standards as a normal student. I am not saying that Cutler in dumb. I just don't think because an athlete attended to a good school(academically) they should be consider smart by default.I think Cutler has the skill set to be very good.....I would not want him as my #1 QB but I think he will make a very good #2 with up side

True, I mean he only did a degree in Human and Organizational Development, so not exactly genius material there. But he did complete it - which I admire in sports, and that automatically makes him smarter than many in the NFL.And every single player in the NBA not named Steve Nash.Oh, and I think Cutler will be a fine #1 QB by week 1, 2008. He'll be better than Hasselbeck, and Hass's been considered a #1 for the past few years.

I was listing to NFL radio yesterday and the guys said Shanny and Denver never talked to Cutler before they drafted him. They said this is common for Shanny to do this with players he is interested in drafting.

just found it interesting

From what I have herd is that Shanny never interviews anybody he thinks he will pick in the draft. I guess does not want anyother teams knowing he is interested.
