Jay Cutler wont vaccinate kids because of autism (1 Viewer)

To be clear, I am not "anti-vaccine."

I am "anti-" individuals who try to parent other peoples children when they could probably be doing a better job parenting their own children. I am anti any notion that "all children should be vaccinated." There are plenty of medical reasons not to vaccinate a child including mitochondrial disorders and other anti-immune disorders. Doctors will not / should not vaccinate a child who is already ill.

Vaccines do way more good than harm, but I think doctors and ultimately parents can do a better job of deciding whether their individual child should be vaccinated and when. Each child's reaction to the side effects of vaccines is different and should evaluated on an individual basis. People spreading the "every child should be vaccinated myth" is doing a disservice to children.

Exactly. Well, I'm off to put dirty needles in the sand at the local playground. Then I'll probably get shirtfaced and drive all over town. Once I get home I'm going to fire off about 500 rounds from my AR-15 in random directions.

I agree with most of this, but the kids who don't have issues with vaccines really should be vaccinated when possible precisely because not everyone can get vaccinated. It's all those who can't be vaccinated who need everyone who can to do his part.

Can you explain to me what an anti-immune disorder is?

Politician Spock, Joe T, Eminence, Dr. J, and a few others demonstrating their usual skills here...
There goes Tim grouping anyone who doesn't think like him in to one collective mindset.

It makes it easier for him to process his thoughts if he believes there are only two, and only two ways to think about anything.

Yes, worked with one for a few years. Most who suffer from polio did not get vaccined

Right. The fact that polio has been eradicated is proof that vaccines do more good than harm. Which is what you asked for.

No. I think it's more that Joe T is talking out of his ####. Guy has no idea what he's talking about... doesn't understand immunity, the immune system, or disease.

I just had an aha moment- I read the bolded more harm than good. :bag: Reading comprehension seems to be down

Meh. It's a free country.

Oh wait. It's not! BURN HIM! HE'S A WITCH!
Exactly. Well, I'm off to put dirty needles in the sand at the local playground. Then I'll probably get shirtfaced and drive all over town. Once I get home I'm going to fire off about 500 rounds from my AR-15 in random directions.

IT'S A FREE COUNTRY!
There are laws against those things.

Cutler isn't breaking the law here. But let's vilify him none the less. If anything, it's fun!!! :confetti:
So if there was a law requiring vaccinations you would feel differently about it?

There's no law (in most places) about adultery. So according to your logic there's nothing wrong with it.

Unfortunately, I know more about it than I want to. But I'm done posting in this thread. I'll continue reading, but it is not worth arguing and taking on insults from people who actually do not know what they are talking about.

WTF?!?!?

What are my feelings about vacination?

The only reason I've posted in here is because people are vilifying someone for doing something perfectly legal.

If you want what Jay is doing to be illegal, then vilify politicians for not making it law yet. Or better yet, make/join a civilized campaign for the law. Your method of throwing out insults at anyone you "think" is anti-vacine is immature and obnoxious!

The problem is that people are choosing not to vaccinate because of lies, unscientific reasoning, and just plain stupidity. And this only hurts the entire population when it comes to communicable diseases.

Seriously?!

I always thought there was something wrong with you. Thanks for the confirmation.

Continue on with your vigilant witch hunt. It is somewhat entertaining, but would be better if this was done on a Friday.

How about I vilify politicians for not making it law while simultaneously vilifying Cutler for endangering the lives of thousands of people?
But apparently we only THINK Cutler is antivax...or something like that.
WTF AGAIN!!!!

I never said you only THINK Cutler is antivax. Obviously he is.

You asked me if it was illegal would it change how I feel about vacinations.

All three of my kids are vacinated, thank you very much. I am NOT anti-vacination.

timschochet said:
First off its bad because Cutler is not protecting his child. He's exposing his child to risk, and that's negligence.

Second it's bad because Cutler is a famous celebrity. When he or Jenny McCarthy does this crap it influences others to do the same. Cutler has more power to influence others than does the average person, and thus greater responsibility. Sorry but that is one of the prices of his success.
I'm with Chuck Barkley on the second one. It's not his job to raise other people's children.

See, there's a secret plan to put liberal juice in vaccines and inject it into your kids

Virtually nobody dies from measles in the US, while about 100,000 die in India from measles. Perhaps Cutler is just saving the vaccination for poor kids in India. It is not right that Americans consume all the vaccinations while other countries die. Why do all you people hate people in India? Cutler is an unselfish hero.

This is basically what I'm getting at. We could do worse than him when re-population becomes necessary.

Christo, what's your take on this vaccination issue?
I don't have kids so I don't care.
Fair enough, I don't have kids and don't care much about anything. However, that doesn't prevent me from thinking about things and forming an intelligent opinion. The anti-science trend here just baffles me.

Nothing anti-science about this. Outside of the fact that a bunch of so called "evolutionists" don't really understand how evolution works.

So we've chosen to focus our attention on different issues we don't care about.

I KNEW it! :tinfoilhat:

:lmao:
It would be interesting to see the statistics and political affiliations of those who are anti vaccine. I only know one person vehemently against vaccines, and he is a tea bagger, conspiracy theorist, NRA gun apologist, wacko.
I'm sure it's not even close to being an even-split of the population's political affiliations. Probably 80-90+ percent of the people opposed to vaccinations vote "R" at the polls. Get Eric Cantor ousted in a Virginian Republican Primary because he "isn't Conservative enough." Et al.

I have 3-4 Facebook friends (out of ~350) who will post anti-vaccination links and rhetoric from time to time. Each of them rides the pole on the far-Right edge of the Republican Party. Not-nearly a statistically valid "n" value! But I've yet to come across someone who votes predominantly "D" who is anti-vaccine.

According to PEW, 12% of those who describe themselves are very liberal believe vaccines cause autism, while 22% of very conservatives believe such. It is evenly split between parties on those who said they would get flu vaccinations.

And your assumptions are wrong. More like a 60-40 split between R's and D's
