Yep. But they won't run him into the ground I don't think. That was only the plan for Bell and this guy is a great pass catcher..Isn't Conner starting?
I picked him up but I churn through bench RBs so I can't say he'll be on my bench for long.Anyone else on the crazy train with me?
Debating playing him at TE over ASJ and Vannett.Anyone else on the crazy train with me?
He's eligible for TE in your league? Sure isn't in MFL. I don't think I would start him regardless. He may not even get a touch, but hell, I played Calvin Ridley this week and look what that got me, a big fat ZERO.Debating playing him at TE over ASJ and Vannett.
Yahoo has him listed TE/RB.He's eligible for TE in your league? Sure isn't in MFL.
RB/TE in Yahoo. 0% chance I'd start him at RB.He's eligible for TE in your league? Sure isn't in MFL.
I don't see how one could risk playing him this week. It's a dart throw to put it mildly.Yep. But they won't run him into the ground I don't think. That was only the plan for Bell and this guy is a great pass catcher..
Drafted him last night in a rookie/free agent draft - Dynasty league - 30 man roster + IR.Anyone else on the crazy train with me?
If you drafted some combination of Bell, Ingram, McKinnon, or one of the rookies from Seattle/Detroit/Tampa/New England, you'd be sweating week 1 options. Some teams have to throw a dart, even in week 1.I don't see how one could risk playing him this week. It's a dart throw to put it mildly.
Hope you are right my friend.Loved his tape @ NCState, picked him late in my right-after-SB draft, when he was re-slotted from FB to RB in my favorite draft report he was placed right behind top 5, has done everything right in camp, i think LBell wk10s it & JConner falls apart quickly in bellcow slot. Same here x3I picked him up but I churn through bench RBs so I can't say he'll be on my bench for long.
I agree with this - Samuels probably won't see a lot of playing time regardless of what happens with Bell or the Steelers season. If both Bell and Conner are unavailable then I think the Steelers would probably use S. Ridley as the #1 RB. If Bell and Conner are unavailable AND the Steelers are out of playoff contention, then they might want to kick the tires on Samuels - of course this is just speculation on my part. The Steelers don't typically play rookie RBs. Conner got 32 touches all of last year and they really liked him. Samuels might have a shot next year but I don't expect to see much if any of him this year regardless of Bell returning or not.
Steelers coach Mike Tomlin said the arrow is "continually pointing up" for fifth-round RB Jaylen Samuels.
In a game James Conner left early, Samuels saw five carries and four targets against the Panthers last Thursday night. That usage is unlikely to continue with Conner fully expected back this week, but it does make Samuels something of an interesting handcuff, especially since he has tight end eligibility in Yahoo leagues.

Full Practice On Wednesday - he's expected to play this weekend.Did Connor do some limited work today? It sounds like he will be fine for Sunday.
Full practice Wednesday (as required by concussion protocol) then full practice today tells me he is out of the protocol and in line for his usual workload this Sunday.Curious if anyone has any thoughts on Conner still not starting. He's practiced fully twice, but is he officially out of the concussion protocol?
It seems very likely Conner plays, but trying to gauge the value holding onto Samuels.
Connor out. Programming Cheat code for playoffs ... 0011110101010001 J a y l e n s a m u e l s 001011100010101001This guy made a blip last week and Bell confirmed gone. I picked him back up for his TE eligibility (Nervous Gronk Owner) as a lotto ticket. Conner should be fine, but ya never know and this guy, if he got the load in Pitt I have no doubt would put up good numbers at RB in my TE position ... would push any team over the top if they owned him as the starting RB for Pitt.
As I recall, the general policy is to add designations midseason (a la Montgomery), but never take them away.Hmmm...would be nice he he got the start a couple games and yahoo left him with RB/TE designation.
A lot will depend on what news we get about Conner. For all we know, he won't miss any time. And yes, it matters a lot if you're set at TE. If you can play him there, he's a real difference maker at a position that's been a complete dumpster fire. But strictly as a RB? He's not bad, but he's in that range of Burkhead/Jackson/Ware (again, depending on the severity of Conner's injury). Also worth pointing out he has a great matchup this week vs Oakland, then closes out with two tougher run Ds (NO/NE)/Id love to grab him...but already so full of RB flyers and not sure Id play him over Kittle at TE.
I supposed my burkhead cuff could be dropped...but that could easily bite me in the ### when I need it.
Initial read is a leg contusion for Conner. A bruise. Sure, grab Samuels and ask questions later.Possible league winner for those who own him.
I think we would have said the same thing about Conner at one time. I watched some college videos of Samuel and he has some skills and on that team he could be very valuable in the FF playoffs.Yeah as a RB, I wouldn't exactly call him a stud or anything. Hes a low end RB2 even vs Oakland. I can see Ben passing a ton next week if Conner is out.
Im not gonna pretend to be a college scout or anything but Conner was getting some hype as a rookie so when he stepped in I think most thought hed succeed in this offense. Samuels on the other hand looks slow running the ball the few times Ive seen him. He can clearly catch which still makes him valuable though.I think we would have said the same thing about Conner at one time. Also not a CFB expert, but wasn't Conner considered a fairly major prospect until the cancer diagnosis? In other words, the concerns were never about his skills, only if he would fully regain them.Im not gonna pretend to be a college scout or anything but Conner was getting some hype as a rookie so when he stepped in I think most thought hed succeed in this offense. Likely. I would assume MRI today.Chances we get a diagnosis by late Tuesday on Conner before waivers run?
He was an Animal at Pitt. I remember a stretch where he had like 2 or 3 200 yrd games in a row. Was a punishing running who looked for contact. I dont know how highly he was touted but he was real fun to watchAlso not a CFB expert, but wasn't Conner considered a fairly major prospect until the cancer diagnosis?
