I didn't call anyone a name. I just said there are tools in this thread. People throwing HIV out there with no substantial reason to do so are tools.Besides you calling people names, what are we supposed to see?See what I meanWhole lot of tools in this thread![]()
I went through something similiar last year. Symptoms - Lost 15 pounds in a month while eating like a hoss, unusual brusing, muscle soreness, general fatigue, abdominal pain and puking when excering hard, trace of blood in the stool, bad gas.Blood tests, ct scans, scopes up both ends, medicine for acid reflux. Doctors came up with nothing. After much web research, I switched to a gluten free diet and everything went away. They never diagonosed ciliac, but I'm pretty convinced it was something like that.'Carl Eller said:These type of things don't happen to a healthy 23 year old wtihout it being something serious. Maybe it's just ciliac disease and a diet change will cure all, but it seems more ominous than that.

We have a vague set of symptoms causing the guy to not practice and HIV, among many of the other possible diseases/syndromes/cancers, loosely fit those symptoms. Nobody is wishing the HIV on the guy, just speculating based on the very limited info we have. Calling someone else a tool for that puts you squarely in that same group of people that so bothers you.'Ramblin Wreck said:I didn't call anyone a name. I just said there are tools in this thread. What has two thumbs and owns Maclin in a keeper league?..........THIS GUY! :('Loomba said:Hopefully he gets better quickly, but it has been headed in the direction that he will miss significant time for a week or two. The rumours re cancer etc. have been floating around for a little while now. If you own him in a keeper league, your stuck and can only hope for a diagnosis that's not as bad as feared or wait it out. Surprising that there were virtually no threads on Maclin until the announcement yesterday.

I think Riley becomes like the WR5 in that offense. Still not all that valuable...not sure how/why you guys got off track. I feel bad for Maclin and hope he makes a full recovery. Sounds like he doesn't even know what's going on at this point. Hopefully, the tests will reveal whatever and they can treat and he'll return to full health and the football field sooner then later.Having said all that, what type of value does Riley Cooper have if Maclin is to miss time? Seems like he could step in and produce for any games Maclin has to miss. Problem is with SS2 there, it's hard to say how many targets will be available? Especially since Michael has said he's going to try to get the ball to Celek more this year.

so he's going to take a demotion in his 2nd year since he was the WR4 last year with lots of PT near the red zone? If Maclin isn't healthy, SS2 isn't recovered, and Avant is probably only gonna play the slot then Cooper would be the starter, no?I think Riley becomes like the WR5 in that offense. It's clearly not an "injury" - you don't mysteriously lose weight for an MCL or a collar bone. This isn't a case of them trying to keep a "known injury" quiet. Whether it's cancer or some other gastrointestinal disease or something, who knows. If it was cancer, weight loss can happen in part depending on the type and stage. I had Stage II cancer and unfortunately I didn't lose any weight; in fact, I actually gained 25 lbs during chemo (for a variety of reasons including the steroids used, lower activity, etc). From what I understand, pancreatic cancer and other such (less serious) issues also can cause digestive/intestinal issues.Yeah, you always kind of gravitate to those kinds of things in cases like these because you would think if it were an MCL or a collar bone or something, it would be reported. That is so scary. And this is by NO MEANS anything I have heard...just letting my mind ramble, but when things are said absolutely NOTHING about like it is in this case, you have to wonder if it is something so serious that they are trying to protect his and his family's privacy and that maybe it is a cancer or degenerative disease or HIV or just anything that would be truly terrible.I hope for the best and hope for a positive update from our Philly locals here in the forums.Rumors are that it's cancer.
Come on Craig. Don't be a hypocrite. It's not like you running around here making friends.http://forums.footballguys.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=602047&st=0&p=13356008entry13356008http://forums.footballguys.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=592073&view=findpost&p=13164036Ramblin Wreck is the biggest annoyance on these boards. aids is super easy to test for.We have a vague set of symptoms causing the guy to not practice and HIV, among many of the other possible diseases/syndromes/cancers, loosely fit those symptoms. He is from St Louis and his (surrogate or step) Father is a Dr. He went to his home area for guidance. The Mono / Enlarged Spleen is a serious issue and could very well be the case and I hope him a full healthy recovery. About the difficult to diagnose Cancers.....A guy at work (on my Haz Mat Crew) went for his annual physical in May 2010 and failed because of low Iron. He went back after a few days and tested again. Further test could not find cause (after 3 week waiting for all the results). Further test at Duke Hospital came up with some rare blood cancer - Multiple Myeloma (Cancer of blood plasma cells). So rare that they only get 50-60 cases a year - basicly 1 per state per year. 30% Survival rate. It took 4 months for the diagnosis to be confirmed. There are limited "experts" on this in the US and 2 are at Duke (according to him). He returned to work 3 weeks ago.... part time, but he is only 48 yo. I wish Macling the best....Then why would he come back to St. Louis to see more doctors? Why not just wait it out? Sounds like they don't know at this point what it is...
Are my tells getting that obvious... "Tis true. At least I have Bowe, White and Nicks as well. Frankly, just disappointed that nothing could be found here to help get a sense of what people were thinking. Usually FBG forums are ahead of the curve.Time to trade him for a sack of footballs on the eve of the announcement that it was nothing more than indigestion from a bad burrito...!What has two thumbs and owns Maclin in a keeper league?..........THIS GUY! :('Loomba said:Hopefully he gets better quickly, but it has been headed in the direction that he will miss significant time for a week or two. And also something that a high profile athlete and his team might very well hide from the media and the public behind being ignorant of what the cause of the cause is. Honestly, I really don't think the guy has aids. If he had aids that advanced that he dropped that much weight, he wouldn't bother being at camp, he would be with his family. I'm thinking it might be cancer. Finding cancer is not cut and dried. My dad had lots of issues and a very elevated PSA and twice had a biopsy done on his prostate and they found nothing and the symptoms went away. Three years later, his symptoms returned and they did a biopsy and found his prostate was cancerous, but only recently cancerous. They said had they done the biopsy a month earlier they would not have found it. It's not a simple diagnosis...aids is super easy to test for.We have a vague set of symptoms causing the guy to not practice and HIV, among many of the other possible diseases/syndromes/cancers, loosely fit those symptoms. Glad to hear he is OK. Bummer that I can't draft him at a depressed price, though. Yes, I am selfish. Carry on.Some kind of announcement coming tomorrow per his brother...http://aol.sportingnews.com/nfl/story/2011-08-15/brother-says-jeremy-maclin-is-fine-announcement-coming-tuesday
I wouldn't say that necessarly. He maybe OK from a life threatening situation (which I really hope is the case) but from the stand point of football who knows what this means. He hasn't had one lick of practice time minus some light conditioning drills and the season is less than a month away. Between the mono and what ever this maybe I could see them throwing him on the PUP list and he won't be heard from until week 7. I'm sure his price will still be quite depreciated.Glad to hear he is OK. Bummer that I can't draft him at a depressed price, though. Yes, I am selfish. lupus!? is it lupus?!
Can't play Monday night games, if so, because he would turn into a werewolf.lupus!? is it lupus?!
Not to be an alarmist, but there are some goofy things that don't add up in that story:1) On the one hand, the brother says Maclin is going to be ok - then he says they'll have more info for us tommorow because "when we find out exactly what’s going on". Which is it? He's ok and will be, oh we don't know yet. If they don't have results from tests until tommorow, what exactly is the assurance about?2) "They kind of have us on a gag order until tomorrow" - ummm, who is "They" - and why do they not want the Maclin camp to say anything? Unless it is the Eagles org. and they know something is pretty wrong and don't want Maclin's unavailibility to compromise any trade/signing offers they are still negotiating. This simply sounds like they don't know anything - but will tommorow. This is hardly reassuring.'DaveGrumbles said:Some kind of announcement coming tomorrow per his brother...http://aol.sportingnews.com/nfl/story/2011-08-15/brother-says-jeremy-maclin-is-fine-announcement-coming-tuesday
Agreed. There's been something odd about this from the get go. I go back to this article from a couple weeks back... http://www.phillyburbs.com/sports/eagles/maclin-battling-an-un-named-illness/article_561a0461-ae95-58ed-bd65-c22d4e6b1265.htmlWhen Reid says 'This is a personal thing and I cant go any further than that' and 'I can't get into the details right now'. It sounds as if he already knows exactly what is going on but just can't talk about it publicly. Again, the article is from two weeks ago. This contradicts a lot of the recent talk which is more along the lines of 'we don't know yet'. Not playing up a conspiracy theory here...just saying it's all been a bit odd.Not to be an alarmist, but there are some goofy things that don't add up in that story:1) On the one hand, the brother says Maclin is going to be ok - then he says they'll have more info for us tommorow because "when we find out exactly whats going on". I concur too. First he's late to camp. Reid says it's a personal matter. Then Maclin is lightly jogging on the sidelines and says it's nothing serious. Then Reid says he'll be ready for week 1. Then he stops doing drills. Then he goes home. Eagles say S Smith signing isn't insurance. Then Jackson says it is. Vick says it's in god's hands. His brother says he's ok, but then they discover what it really is tomorrow. It's been fishy for a while now. I'm all for privacy but the mixed messages and lack of information really don't give me a warm fuzzy feeling that he is ok. I hope he is, but wow. Could they make it any more confusing?Agreed. I for one can't wait to hear what his real condition is so that people can start posting anecdotal medical information.

good info, thx. anyone else who has this data, please post.He fell to the 7.08 in a league I am drafting in right now.
