Saints | Jeremy Shockey rushed to hospital with seizure like symptoms Thu May 27, 03:29 PM

Mike Triplett, from the New Orleans Times-Picayune, reports New Orleans Saints tight end Jeremy Shockey was taken to a hospital via ambulance this afternoon after suffering from seizure-like symptoms in the weight room, according to a report by ABC26 Sports and NewOrleans.com, which cited a league source. Shockey was able to walk to the ambulance on his own power, according to the report. The Saints held a practice from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., followed by meetings and media interviews until 11:30, and Shockey was fine at that time.

Our view: The team has not verified any of the details. We'll keep you posted with the latest as we hear it.

I hope he is OK and these are not effects from "livin hard"...I feel like it was this time last year he passed out at that hotel in Vegas and they could not wake him up.

how many times will Shockey have these medical alert moments before something is determined?

I hope he's ok, but Dave Thomas and Jimmy Graham should be rostered. I know Graham is getting drafted, but I also see people dropping Thomas in some leagues. That's a huge mistake, because it's he who would benefit immediately from the absence of Shockey. Not to mention that this is probably the last season for Shockey in New Orleans.

that was heat stroke, iirc...
Really? I thought it was that he drank so much, became dehydrated and passed out. Heat stroke would have been "natural" and surely we would have heard a Bruschi-esque comeback story...I really think he drank himself into an oblivion.

Heat Stroke isn't like an actual stroke. It's an intense ammount of dehydration and exhaustion due to heat and sun.Alcohol can contribute to it. It's a more intense for of heat exhaustion.I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure it's not a real stroke per se.

Heat stroke is not at all similar to a stroke aka cerebral vascular accident. Two different conditions though both seroius. Bruschi had the latter which is typically more devastating with lasting physical/mobility impairment.
