I'm curious to get some input from Norwood owners and Falcons homers as to what they expect from him now that Petrino is gone. The good news is ... well ... Petrino's gone. That can only serve to help Norwood. It certainly isn't going to hurt him given how Petrino never used him. So that's a potential plus. On the flip side, it's clear Petrino never viewed Norwood as a starting RB and it's possible whoever steps in next will agree with that assessment. Perhaps Norwood isn't a strong practice player; perhaps he isn't strong at doing some of the little things starters need to do. These are things coaches harp on constantly and if the feeling about Norwood was unanimous throughout the coaching staff then it doesn't matter that Petrino is gone now. Norwood's role will remain the same.
However, with only three games left perhaps - and this is pure speculation - there will be a decision to find out whether he can handle a larger role. Petrino was never going to give him one but an interim head coach might feel more inclined to roll the dice given how there's nothing really to be lost. Dunn is clearly an inferior player in terms of running and receiving. It's likely the "little things" that keeps him ahead of Norwood on the depth chart. But with Petrino gone, perhaps the door will be opened for Norwood to get more touches a game - and frankly it won't take much for that to happen given how infrequently he's being used.
So what are the thoughts of Norwood owners and Falcons homers? Any chance Petrino's exit enhances Norwood's fantasy value for the final three games?
