Patriots LB Jerod Mayo won the league's Defensive Rookie of the Year award.

Mayo's victory was almost unanimous (49 of 50 first-place votes) in a down year for defensive rookies. The sixth-straight linebacker to win the award, Mayo started all 16 games and led the Patriots with 137 tackles. He came out early, so Mayo's upside is enormous for IDP leaguers. Other rookies that impressed; Leodis McKelvin, Sedrick Ellis, Curtis Lofton, Charles Godfrey, Brandon Flowers, Keith Rivers, Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, Tracy Porter, and Chris Horton.

well deserved.

And to think I was bummed when Dan Connor was taken just before me in dynasty and I had to settle for Mayo.

You must have been just devastated when the guy took the third rounder over the 1.10 overall.

I got him as the 4th LB taken in my start 4 LB 14 team Dynasty League at pick #22.

Rivers went at #13, Dizon at 14, and Lofton at 21. I was pleased with that. More and more so as training camp went along and into the season.

Well deserved honors for Mayo. I winced when the Patriots took him in last years draft as I was real high on him and had visions of him slipping to the end of the first round. Not only that, I was hoping to get him on the cheap in my Dynasty Rookie draft. Once he went early I knew I'd have to leap sooner than I wanted.

I traded back a few times from the end of the 1st round to collect additional seconds but did one move too many and saw Mayo selected two picks before it was my turn. I even tried peddling him away from the owner who took him after the pick to no avail.

Crazy year in the NFL for rookies as there weren't as many impact defensive rookies but had several on O.
