Jet Fans: WHo are you rooting for? (1 Viewer)

New york Jet fans have an interesing dilemma for this superbowl. Pats or Giants?

last time it was easy. You either wanted the pats to go undefeated or not. This time, it is just a regular old world title. So who do you want?

As a Dolphin fan the only way I would root for the pats is if I knew that Brady and His coach would both retire after this game if they won. Otherwise, I am int he G-man corner.

So Jets fans, is it second class status int he city of new york or watching the city of boston claim another title?

I am rooting for the Giants...and it is not close. The only time I would not root against the Pats in a SB is if they went against the Dolphins...luckily, I will never have to make that decision.

Quoting Joe Beningo seems appropriate here . . . .

"Oh . . . the pain"

I'm guessing Jets fans are rooting for their HC to keep his fat mouth shut going forward.

Never understood the "have to hate the other area team" thing. I'm a Jet fan, but also follow the Giants and root for them right up until they play the Jets. I'm a Yankee fan and feel the same way about the Mets.

I'm rooting for a horrible game that ends with some ridiculous Tuck-Like call where the winner has to hear asterisk talk and the Loser cries and whines all offseason.

:banned:

I'll just enjoy the food and drinks, play some boxes and watch the commercials like most people usually at a SB party.

In 2007 I was on the Giants bandwagon when Giant fans were pushing eachother to get off. I Remember being in a nYC bar full of Giant "fans" watching that Viking game where Eli threw pics all day and Giant fans enmasse wanted Coughlin and Eli gone - I said, 1) I'd take Eli any day and 2) Look at the schedule the G-men can make a run....

I drove the 2007 Bus and enjoyed the ride and the Pats not going undefeated.. But, The Giants and their fans are no where near as humble this time around - Granted they have 2007 as a boost to morale... But, I can't get on board either bus.

I always felt that way until this year - maybe cuz we played eachother and the team's fortunes pretty much turned on that one Cruz play with lots of talk on both sides - Jacobs has as fat a mouth as anyone, don't let em fool ya.As for the Mets - It's pretty easy to not hate a team that barely even plays the same sport.I'm also an Islander fan - There is no such thing as rooting for the Islanders AND Rangers if you watch Hockey. Again though they play each other often and Ranger fans hate the Islanders since the dynasty.

Younger Jest fans will root for the Giants and Old Schoolers will root for NE. Nothing would be worse for an old school Jester fan than having to deal with the aftermath of big brother putting another Lombardi on the mantle.

My hatred for the Patriots runs deeper than any feelings of "playing second fiddle". I'm easily rooting for the Giants. In fact, while I know this likely goes against the "rules", I generally don't dislike the Giants and will pull for them to win most of the time.

I'm with Jwb on this one. As a lifelong Giant fan I've never minded seeing the Jets win games. There really isn't the rivalry there that the papers try to sell. Sure there are fans who hate the opposite team but as was pointed out earlier, it's not like in hockey where if you root for the Isles, you HATE the Rangers, and vice versa. The Giants and Jets don't play each other nearly enough for this ever to get strong legs as a rivalry.

Now I will contend that it seems as though Rex Ryan has made it one of his goals since taking over as Coach of the Jets, to try and make this a rivalry. Not sure if I understand the rationale behind that unless it's to get more of a spotlight on his team.

I can tell you that if the Jets were playing the Eagles/Cowboys/Redskins in the big game I'd be firmly planted in the Jets corner, no matter how much Rex pisses me off.

:goodposting: If the Jets EVER played Eagles, Cowboys, or Redskins and Fireman Ed can ride around on my shoulders all week long spelling the only word he can!

Count me in the old school category - not rooting for the Pats per se (too painful to say), but rooting against the Giants. I am a Jets season ticket holder, so it's even tougher to watch the Giants add another trophy while the Jets - of which I am partially funding - are in disarray (again). I've already accepted that the Jets will be second fiddle to the Pats for the forseeable future, so what's another title for them?I should note, however, that may rooting against the Giants only stems from jealousy - they are a classy an organization as there is, and only wish the Jets could be close to what they are.

Unlucky for you, the same cant be said about their fans.

Despite being a lifetime Jets fan, I'll be rooting for the Giants next Sunday. My brother in law was a long time Giants season ticket holder, and he died of cancer in September at the ripe old age of 47. Left my sister and three kids. John Mara sent a bouquet of flowers and a handwritten note with condolences to the family. I'll never forget that.

Oh, and I hate the Patriots, there Townie-come-lately fans, and everything they stand for with every fiber of my being. Watching them go 18 and Oh No was one of the great joys in my pathetic life as a Jets fan. I'd love for them to go home disappointed again.

Is that a fancy way of saying "Bandwagon Fans"?Why don't you just say

"Bandwagon Fans".

It was meant as an additional slight towards Pats fans in a cultural sense, in addition to their bandwagoning ways. Does the term "Bandwagoning Monte Carlo SS Driving Chowdaheads With High Haired Girlfriends Named Cheryl" work better for you?

I'll be rooting for Doritos, Bud Light and a Madonna wardrobe malfunction. Otherwise I will be in denial that there is an actual game taking place.

Only if you can figure out which "there" belongs in the original sentence. PS: nobody up here drives Monte Carlos...do you think it's the 70's here or something? ;)

I'm a Jets fan for 40 years and I have never cared one way or the other about the Giants. On that note, I'm rooting against the Pats. To be honest though, it was such a frustrating year that I'm more concerned about the Jets than to worry about what other team wins.

I said what I said earlier but, when the game comes on and it gets down to it, I think we're all going to be rooting for Tom Brady to EAT DIRT.That's a great Giants Pass rush and regardless of the score, I'd like to see Brady hit... A LOT.

Jets fan here - definitely rooting for the Giants. Maybe it's because I don't live in NY, but I've never really understood why I'm supposed to dislike the Giants. Now the Patriots, on the other hand ... I would root for the Taliban if they were playing against New England ...
