Jet's reportedly extend RG Moore (1 Viewer)

I heard this morning that the Jets have extended RG Brandon Moore giving him $1 mill more even though he had 3 years left on his original deal. It's funny because that was the same exact situation that LG Pete Kendall was in and the Jets refused and sent him packing. I wonder if the Jets would like a do-over on that decision since Pennington's injury was caused by a rush from Kendall's former spot.

Listening to the radio this morning they were saying that the Jets O-line is soft and Kendall was the toughest guy on the line and in the lockerroom. Boomer was saying perhaps the Jets didn't like Kendall's outspoken nature and were looking for soldiers to toe the line. Whatever the case I thought the Jets made a huge error in this situation before the start of the season and watching the Pats jail break up the middle all day it looks like the Jets may be in for a loooong season. Kendall must be smiling at Mangenious's Jets.

Kendall was nothing of a model citizen. I don't believe all that was said but there's enough petty nonsense out there about his time with the Jets and previous teams that makes me believe the guy could have been more professional. I'm not sure all that matterred though. In the last few years, the Jets have seen alot of linemen go play elsewhere. It seems they don't want to pay their linemen huge $. IIRC they gave Fabini a nice sized deal but he never earned it all and wound up in Dallas' camp. Randy Thomas is in Washington. Kareem is with the Giants. Not giving Kendall a big deal kinda flows with all their previous stuff too. Cap management wise- If they decided they could draft linemen cheaper and have them perform similarly well(Mangold, DBrick) ...well that theory has been working.I'd like to know what Moore's deal is. Back loaded where he never sees a huge % of it? or did they maybe change their philosophy on spending money on the OL? Which IMO they're certainly allowed to do. Yeah it stinks that several guys aren't there but does that mean they should keep with a negative trend? Most of all, I would bet Moore's deal was made with Mangold and DBrick in mind. I imagine they plan to(at least Mangold if not DBrick) spend alot on those two when the time comes. Mangold sure looks like he's worth it.The Pats have one of the best DLs in football. I would imagine their young linemen were learning and all those type thoughts. I wouldn't condemn them after 1 game, Pats DL are too good.

Moore = 27 yrs oldKendall = 34 yrs oldMoore a former College DT was only converted to G, not 3 years ago, and given a fair contract for his skill and position, he has since blossomed into an above average G, and as such has garnered a contract extension. I won't go into the Kendall situation, but it is apples and oranges. I have no doubt Kendall is :hey:

Age probably played a factor in Moore over Kendall, but at the end of the day, I think it's all about Mangini wanting his guys, which clearly Kendall was not.
