Jets should take AJ Hawk... (1 Viewer)

Can you imagine if they took AJ Hawk... Imagine Vilma and Hawk together.... You'd have the best/youngest linebacking core... Then for their pressing QB need, get Brody Croyle in the second or third round. It's brilliant.

Hawk and Vilma would make quite a pair. Croyle on the other hand, I'll pass.

And youd likely do so with more accuracy than Croyle

as a packer fan hoping that super mario or brick drops to 1.05...i hope the jets see it the same way, but i doubt it

the jets will either trade up to #2 and select leinart or stay at #4 and take mario/brick

Brick will be there, mario might be the second player taken.

Once again, the Saints aren't taking another DE and will take D'Brick. The Jets will take Mario and the Packers get Hawk. Nothing else makes sense for these teams barring trades.

The saints are taking mario.

I know it'd be smarter to take d'brickashaw, but they won't, they'll take a defensive end again... you just watch :)

Do I also get to watch Brees laid out again by poor LT play?

I would be awesome, but I do not like the value that high. Going ILB (or OLB) at the top of the 2nd or 3rd would be far better value. Also, from the perspective of making the 3-4 work, I think they need much more help at getting the OLBs in place. Barton should be able to play the role of Godfrey opposite Vilma's Edwards sufficiently.

I like the jets taking hawk over mario. Dont get me wrong Mario is a phenom, and is one of the best players from this class, but then so is Hawk. Didnt the jets just get rid of a pro bowl DE because they had such good depth on the DL? LB seems to be a bigger need, Hawk and Vilma would be a terrorizing duo that would lift the play of the whole D up.

Is Bryan Thomas good enough to start? If so, then Hawk might not be a bad choice. I just think that Mario will be a beast that can dominate the game and that if it's anything of a need position a team should take him.

,Link?

Why?

Youre saying that Mario Williams is SO much better than Dbrick that the Saints would rather start Jon Stinchomb at RT and put one of their young stud DEs Charles Grant or Will Smith, on the bench?

Nope - They got rid of Abe cuz he wanted to go - Plus he wasn't a good fit as a 3-4 DE or an OLB and he was damn expensive.Mario is the perfect 3-4 4-3 DE for this defense - not to replace Abe but, to fit a position that Abe could not fit.

As far as Bryan Thomas - He's a Tweener and may switch to LB and/or rotate in when they play 4-3.

Thomas probably would be good enough to start as he has shown improvement each year, but Kimo von Oelhoffen, who they signed from Pittsburgh, would likely be the starter if the season started today.

I read they were working him at OLB in the 3-4 to see if he could play the position...trying to sort out what pieces of the puzzle they currently have vs. still need to have a viable 3-4 unit.An OLB like Carpenter would be huge with their late 1st or early 2nd round pick to sprinkle some talent in that 3-4.
