Jets vs Pats tonight-exploit/avoid (1 Viewer)

Ministry of Pain

Any thoughts on the game tonight? I feel like the Jets will cover and partly because they know Sanchez is not coming back. For better or worse, this is Geno Smith's team for now. They were gifted a win last week but players will get better typically over the season. The Pats have nothing at WR, nothing proven anyways, nothing at TE, is Amendola a go or no?

I gotta think NE will lean on Ridley after Vereen goes down, an injury they could ill afford to sustain. I would be shocked if New England blows them out tonight. I see an ugly game on a short week with little practice. Brady is the best player on the field though bar none so the Pats should eek it out. Who is going to have 100 yds tonight? Is anyone as lethal as Vincent Jackson who they saw last week?

I'm hollering upset tonight, I like the NY Jets(+12) and I like them to pull a shocker tonight and the Rex Ryan hype train will be in full swing for the next week. He doesn't need a QB, proven WRs, a dominant RB, because he's Rex Ryan.

Final Score: NY Jets 16...New England 15

Post your thoughts and any players you want to discuss for tonight. If you want to post about your options, please say who you are starting over someone else and why you are doing so.

If Amendola does not suit up I think Thompkins will be a nice flex play tonight. He will get a lot of targets although he may get a lot of attention from the D as well.

Still waiting to see final decision concerning Amendola as I don't trust Bellichik.

I've seen updates that say Amendola could miss up to 4 weeks. I don't think there's any way we'll be seeing him tonight. I think Boyce might be the sneaky play... For the Pats anyway, not Fantasy guys.

Yeah, from a fantasy perspective the only guy I really 'like' tonight is Ridley. Amendola isn't playing lets be real here.

This will be a closer game than the spread is dictating. I'm buying the Jets like crazy on that spread. That said, I think Ridley and Brady are big enough talent gaps to win this game for the Patriots when it comes down to it. Similar to how the Patriots and Bills game went. I just think Brady finds a way to pull it out. Should be a better and closer game than Vegas seems to think though.

Pats win, no opinion on whether they cover, i think it will be close. Might take the under.

I like Ridley to have a good game. Brady 1-2 TDs, under 300 yards.

This is the kinda game that everyone starts saying will be close, money starts coming in on the Jets as 11 point dogs, & everyone gets excited to see....

Then the Pats win by 30 and Bradyn makes Josh Boyce and some other guy you've never heard of look like Jerry Rice and Michael irvin just to send a message to the NFL.

Not a Pats fan either, I think its just shaping up like this for BB and Brady.

Line seems crazy high to me, but as a Pats fan, usually when I see a line I think is way too high and go the other way, the Pats tend to roll haha. So beware.

I think only way NE covers is if they hold Jets to single digits which is possible. 23-6 or something like that.

From FF POV, Edelman and Ridley are only guys I'd start with any confidence.

I agree with this. I'm surprised at the line based on the perceived NE problems on O. Jets fans see easy money. Pats win big. Vegas usually knows whats up.

Duly noted Mr Spikes

I would start Ridley and Edelman without hesitation. Those 2 are going to produce due to their injured teamates.

I am not sold on the Jets yet.

I would say 2/3 of the people in here are going Pats, maybe higher...this place should clean up tonight if the Pats win and cover the 12. You guys make it sound so easy to cover this spread.

Buffalo was supposed to be a blowout last week as well...wasn't that the Patriots and Tom Brady I saw scratching and clawing their way back on the last drive to eek a FG thru and beat EJ Manuel?

I am 2nd guessing my pick, so many of you make compelling cases but logic is not at play here tonight. It's the 1st real Thursday game off a short week, last week teams were fresh. Some of these Thursday Night games can be really ugly, seem to remember that being a theme last year but perhaps I'm a confused old man.

Short week for a rookie QB that doesn't have the same football IQ as the the top rooks from last year - BB is going to have a field day. NE defense might outscore the NYJ offense.

It's the game that looks like a trap game, but actually turns into a blowout.

I'm with you on this being a close game... just not with the Pats losing. I mean... for the love of GOD I hope they do. I'm in a $5000 Survivor Pool and about half of the people in the pool have the Pats this week. So you can bet your @$$ I'm rooting hardcore for the Jets tonight. But I just feel like when the chips are on the table and it's something like 17 - 14 Jets with 3 minutes left on the clock Brady will find a way to win the game and put the team on his shoulders.

Pats played horrendously last week. Completely off their game, four turnovers. Just ugly. I don't think that's the norm for them. Meanwhile, the Jets eeked out a win they shoulda' lost, against a team that's taking bigger steps backwards than forwards.

That, plus, as a Pats fan, I hate the Jets. So, there's that.

could you stop saying eek?

Why do people think the Jets don't completely suck all of a sudden?
becuase they dont

good d - Not as good as the Pats

a real offensive coordinator - But no offense

a developing qb, who can make some plays - Rookie who looked completely lost in preseason

a good scheme on both sides of the ball - No talent on either though

a pretty good defensive coordinator - with average players
Because they do

I think that was me, but point taken.

How do you guys think the NYJ backfield will shake out? You can run on NE. Powell saw 63% of the snaps last week and was utlized 17 times. Hes also the defacto 3rd down RB/pass catcher.

I love malapropisms. Given that picture they always show around here in New England of Brady with his kids on the water slide, "eeking" seems about right.

Ivory, dammit :football:

In all seriousness, I think tonight is a bad night for the Jets run game if they go with Powell. Wilfork and co. are man-beasts in there, and their entire defense has gone from porous to a bit underrated.

Starting Patriots Defense with confidence. Bilal Powell, Chris Ivory aren't going to run the ball well. Last week Geno had Kerley and he doesn't now. Stephen Hill isn't going to produce Steve Johnson like numbers.

Think Patriots win by 20.

Also starting with very little confidence but think he's a great boom or bust play Kenbrell Thompkins. I believe someone in the Patriots passing offense breaks out and don't think it's going to be Edleman. Should see Cromartie blanket him most of the game. Don't think it will be Aaron Dobson as he is still gimpy. So rolling the dice

If Amendola does not suit up I think Thompkins will be a nice flex play tonight. He will get a lot of targets although he may get a lot of attention from the D as well.

Still waiting to see final decision concerning Amendola as I don't trust Bellichik.
Really? An unproven rookie? I think Edelman is the wr play tonight... or if you like to live dangerously start Stephen Hill

according to what?
Exactly. When was the last time you could really run on NE?
You gotta love how people just make up stats to prove their point.

The Patriots ranked 9th last season with 101.9ypg allowed on the ground and were tied for 6th last season with 10 TDs allowed. Tied for 5th in YPC allowed at 3.9ypc. They were also tied for first on big plays... they only allowed 5 plays of 20 or more yards and allowed 0 of 40 or more yards.

So yes please, since when have you been able to run on the Patriots? They're actually one of the worst RB matchups in the league... very quietly but it still holds true quiet or not.

Thompkins only caught 4 0f 14 targets. I think you will see Thompkins giving up snaps to Boyce or Dobson (if healthy) or both. Belichick hates turning the ball over so i got to believe he hates dropped balls and wrong routes just as much.
