Jets (3 Viewers)

So how do the Jets matchup with SD?
Much better than they do with Indy, for one big reason. QB play. They are going to face a better QB than Carson Palmer either way, but the one in SD always has a chance to beat himself. I still think its the end of the road for the Jets, but this matchup, in this setting(west coast - Sanchez) gives them a little better shot at making it somewhat respectable. If they go to Indy, I think Manning has a field day picking those schemes apart.
I think the Jets just got a break and will upset the Chargers, San Diego hasn't been able to run the ball all year and DR will take V.Jackson out of the game, the only chance San Diego has is if Gates comes up LARGE and I'm not sure even that beast can come up with such a large game because he is gonna need help, and I just don't see it coming from anywhere else in San Diego's offense.
Lol at the "only chance san diego has" statement. You must not have been watching much of The Chargers are on a 11 game win streak. This game is not going to be close.

Both statements seem to be a bit extreme. IMO, however, the Chargers have a much better chance of being on the positive side of a blowout than do the Jets. But if the game is close, don't be totally surprised at an upset. I'm not really predicting it, but the Jets have that underdog feeling on their side.

Hope Kaeding doesn't review film from his other game against the Jets in the post-season.Or pretty much most of his post-season games:

In January, 2005, Kaeding became only the second rookie in NFL history to attempt a potential game-winning field goal in the playoffs in the 4th quarter or overtime. His 40-yard field goal attempt missed, and the Chargers lost in the wild card round to the New York Jets, who won the game on a Doug Brien field goal.In the 2007 Pro Bowl, Kaeding kicked a game winning 21-yard field goal with four seconds left.Kaeding's postseason struggles continued in the 2006 NFL Playoffs, when he missed a game tying 54-yard field goal attempt against the New England Patriots. He had not missed a field goal at home in the previous two years prior to that 54-yard attempt.Kaeding suffered a fractured left leg when he made a tackle on the opening kickoff against the Denver Broncos on December 24, 2007 and played the final 5 games of the season on the fractured leg. [1]In the 2007 playoffs Kaeding missed a field goal each in the Wild Card weekend game against Tennessee (which San Diego won) and against the Indianapolis Colts (which San Diego also won). Nate's streak of consecutive playoff games with a missed field goal stood at 4 but was ended with a made field goal from 40 yards against New England.

Either opponent would have been a monumental task...

But, Personally I was looking forward to another Saturday Night Party...

Still recovering from this past Saturday..... Lots of cleaning up to do, lots of cobwebs to sweep away. :goodposting:

Kinda liked the whole Colts storyline as well.

Child, please.

I was a week early in my initial post on this matchup, but it still holds true. Jets are a very dangerous team right now; Revis will lock down Wayne and they'll double team Dallas Clark and make Garcon and Collie beat them. The Jets should he able to run the ball on the Colts. Its up to Sanchez. If he feels the heat from Freeney and Mathis, they'll be in trouble. If he protects the football, the Jets will be in this game and the 7 1/2 pts looks tempting, even as a Colts fan.

The Colts had little trouble stopping the ravens running offense. I think the Colts win a relatively close one, something like 17-3 or 24-10.

The Colts were dealing with the Jets pretty well the last time they met until they decided to give up. I expect them to not only do as wel this time, but probably better. Look for a double digit win for the Colts.

9-3 Colts at the half.
Jets took lead 10-9.
Colts regained lead 15-10 (went for 2 and failed)Then the Colts took out their starters. Any reason to believe that now the Jets can't do as good or better than last time?

Colts will certainly be the favorites ... but the Jets can certainly win this game.

If it wasn't for a fluke return for a td the score would have been 15-3 at that point in time. The Jets offense wasn't doing squat and I don't expect them to do squat again next week.

The NYJ offense didn't do squat for most of the game today either. They are a much better 2nd half team. If they can keep it close, they've got a great shot. I think they can keep it close.

Is that actually true, or did the turnovers help them?Ravens Average Gain per Rushing Play 4.6 yards

Oh. You're one of THOSE guys? :goodposting:

"If you take away that 40 yard run he only averaged 2.8 ypc."

Guess what .... IT HAPPENED!

Manning, Freeney, Mathis >>>>> Sanchez and the Jets pass blocking. Manning will handle the Jets easily. The Jets won't be able to run the ball enough. Sanchez will have to throw it for the Jets to win, and that's when the Colts take over the game.

I agree Freeney and Mathis could have big games but the Jets have the best pass defense in the NFL, and by a pretty big margin. And when I say pass D, I mean in all phases; yards/attempt, QB rating against, TD-INT ratio. The Jets held opposing QBs to a 58.8 rating this season. Do you realize how bad 58.8 is? JaMarcus Russell is about a 68-69. Yeah, Manning might be the best of all time (by the time he hangs it up) but I'm not expecting him to light it up to 4 TDs 300 yards......forget about that.

He doesn't have to throw 4 tds to beat the Jets. The best possible outcome for the Jets is something like 24-10 or 20-10. We can sit here all day and throw this around, so let's just see how it shakes out next week. I feel very good going into this game. Maybe even Super Bowl III good :bag:

A lot of people said the same thing about today's game against San Diego.......11 straight wins for the Chargers. Hottest team in the NFL. Kind of ironic how the two supposed "hot" teams, San Diego and Dallas, both got beat today and the two "over the top" teams in New Orleans and Indy, looked very strong.

I think you are seeing this: Rice>>>>> Greene and Jones. I would agree. But Greene and Jones PLUS that O line = Jets rushing attack>>>>Raven rushing attack even with Rice. The Jets D is every bit as good as that Ravens unit. Their backers are as good, better shut down corner, better corner depth, weaker safety for sure even with Rhodes, as good of a front 7, and better coaching, IMO.

The Ravens run D is better than the Jets run D. The Jets pass D is significantly better than the Ravens pass D. Take a guess which one matches up better with the Colts.

The Ravens averaged 4.7 ypc this year. The Jets? 4.5 ypc. I stand by my statement that the Ravens have a better running game. After reviewing the stats, I am willing to concede that the Jets have a slightly better defense. I'd be shocked if the Jets can hold the Colts to 20 points like the Ravens did, though.
I don't think either team scores more than 21 points.

This game is so fitting... for the past month the Jets have been a much better team than the Ravens. The only Impressive Game the Ravens had was when the Pats fell apart.

Revis is amazing!

I expect the Colts to continue the 3WR sets and run the ball effectively. I also expect the Colts to move Wayne around quite a bit to isolate Clark or Collie on a safety.

While Green looks good, he is no better than Rice. I think the Colts preparation is shortened as the Ravens and Jets have similar attacks. This is a big advantage IMO.

One thing I'm worried about is the wildcat from the Jets. That is a big advantage for the

IMO.

It is entirely possible that the Jets can win with the Defense and Running game they have. I just think this comes down to QB play. Huge advantage Colts.

I'd call it 23-17 as the Colts seems to play most games close.

I would think the Jets best chance in this game would be to come in & play the underdog roll hoping the Colts may be over confident. I just can't see it happening after the Jets beat them in week 16. I don't think I have ever seen a more pissed off team then the Colts were as they sat on the sidelines while the Jets took the undefeated season away. I think Manning could have a huge game picking apart the Jets vaunted pass defense.

I think way too many people are looking at the Colts being 24th against the run and reading too much into it....This isn't the same horrible run defense of the past. The Colts did give up a lot of yards to the Dolphins. But for a team that faced MJD twice, Chris Johnson twice, Steven Jackson, and Frank Gore not to mention shutting down Ray Rice in the regular season as well, the run defense is much improved compared to earlier seasons. It is also worth mentioning 283 yards, including 71 of Thomas Jones 105 yards, was against the bench of the Indianapolis Colts.

Colts-38

Jets-10

The Ravens O line is not as physical as the Jets line is. The Colts are a speed D, and they matchup better against the Ravens and Rice than they do with Jones- Greene and a power blocking scheme. I think the Jets will fare better than the Ravens running game did, but that won't be enough. Sanchez will probably have to play his best game as a pro, and still it would be very dicey. Dicey, but fun to watch.

I will also add I do not expect the Jets to win this game. I don't see how they pull of this upset against (colts) in (Miami) as huge underdogs.

Colts pass O vs Jets pass D= Advantage ColtsJets rush O vs Colts rush D= Big advantage JetsColts pass D vs. Jets Pass O= Big Advantage ColtsThe longer the game is close the better chance the Jets have.I expect the Colts to abuse the non-Revis' DBs and Safeties.Should be close with a strong chance of a Colts blowout with a few Sanchez turnovers.Fun to watch. I'll be there!

Jets already won in Indy this year. :goodposting:Of course, most people thought it was worth ignoring that the Jets already beat the Bengals, too.
Chase, come on now..the Jets beat the Colts' second/third stringers after trailing by what, 2 TDs at halftime?..you don't think if the Colts left Manning and Co. in the game that they wouldn't have crushed the Jets?give them credit for winning on the road in consecutive weeks..that SD win was impressive... but Manning just wooped up on the Ravens defensive formations, the same ones the Jets use..it's not like Manning hasn't seen these formations before..I'd love nothing more than to see the Jets win. I live in NJ and have a lot of friends who are Jets fans so I'm pulling for them! but they have their hands full this week..

it was 9-3 at the half (Addai TD and a missed XP) and the jets took the 2nd half KO back for a TD. Brown scored on the next drive to make it 15-10 (they went for 2 and missed it) and then Manning went out of the game. I get that the jets didn't get the colts best effort for 60 minutes, but the idea that the Colts somehow destroyed the Jets until the moment Peyton left the game is just absurd. He was playing well, but the Jets were VERY much in thegame.

Colts will kill the Jets as they can stop the run and reavis can only cover 1 guy - Wayne - Mannings will use everyone and pick the Jets apart.

Revis may only cover one guy but he seems to be covering the guy the Qb is trying to throw to. That's obviously an exaggeration but one play that stood out to me last night was the pass to Nanee which Revis knocked away on a third down play. Revis just knew (because of his film study) that Rivers wanted to go to Nanee in that situation and he should have come off the play and gone to another receiver with Revis on that side of the field on zone coverage. I don't see Peyton making that kind of mental mistake. Indy has a speed defense but like the Jets they have players who bring it in Brackett, Bethea and Session. This is not a finesse defense. The Jets deserve a lot of credit for taking this team as far as they have. I just don't see them competing in this game. Manning will get the Colts up early and once the Jets have to pass to stay in the game it will be all over. And yes I do think Saturday and the interior of the Colts O Line will have more luck controlling the Jenkins-less defensive line than the Chargers did; not dominate by any means but they should have some room to run.

for the 2nd week in a row, i think the train runs out of steam.

Colts 24- Jets 13

Same score i predicted for yesterday.

I don't think either team scores more than 21 points.
Colts starters put up 15 in less than a full game earlier, with much less to play for than now, while the Jets NEEDED to win to make it into the playoffs.I was VERY impressed with the Jets D against SD, but I believe the Colts are better in every aspect of the passing game than the Chargers are. And the Colts can run enough to keep the defense from teeing off on Manning.I also think the Colts learned how to play the Jets by playing the Ravens, it's really the best match up for the Colts to have.

The Jets weren't really in the game. A KO return cannot be counted on to win you a game. If the Jets are expecting to win by returning kicks for TDs they're goig to have trouble.Fact is, the Jets offense couldn't score TDs against the Colts starting D, and they couldn't stop the Colts starting O - passing or running.

I think the whole key is early on. Can the Jets hang or keep it close, then they can rely on their running game. But if its 14-0 and Sanchez has to get more involved, then the wheels can come off for them. Fundamentally, there are reasons to take the points with the Jets. Getting points with the superior defense AND running game is usually a solid bet. But the huge difference in the QB position may be enough to keep me off the side, and being a Colts fan, that's fine. The UNDER 41 (now 40 1/2 at some outlets) looks very, very solid, IMO.
