Now's the time of year when frustrated dynasty owners move people without really thinking long term value. J Stew hasn't done much this year, obviously no one in Carolina really has. There were high expectations for him this season after two good ones in a row. Don't really know if this should be here or in the assistant coach forum but what do you guys think of his long term value?

Just for perspective....

I own him in a dynasty league and wouldn't give him up for a first round pick still. I've held him all this time, only started him a couple of times so I'm not just going to mail in my investment before the payoff.

It would take a top 10 WR or RB, IMO.

These seems about spot on...I've been trying to buy low on him and it just isn't happening.

Dynasty owners have probably seen enough of Stewart to know he's a hold. The guy obviously has stud potential when given the bulk of the carries.

I'm sure most of them are also aware of DeAngelo William's contract situation and will likely sit tight until they know whether he'll resign with the Panthers or move on.

I think the only arena you could conceivably buy low on Stewart is redraft. In dynasty the owner has probably had him on roster for two years and has already gotten a taste of what could be. Maybe if this is a dynasty league that had its initial draft this year, the owner might not have the patience or attachment to Stewart. But an owner that's held onto Stewart this long (2+ years) isn't going to suddenly drop his pants and sell low.

This reminds me a little of the people saying buy low on Roethlisberger last week. If the owner's had him on roster for five weeks of suspension, he's not going to dump him for a low offer when he's at the cusp of reward.

I mean, sure, try to talk to Stewart owners but don't expect a garage sale price.

Stewart owners are a funny bunch.

I wouldn't buy, Carolina probably brings back DeAngelo.

Plus you have to pay like he is actually doing something or going to do something soon.

Personally, I don't think Carolina brings back DeAngelo unless Carolina brings back Fox. And given how brutal Carolina has been this season, I really, really don't see Carolina bringing back Fox. After he's gone, the Panthers will have a new coach with new priorities and new offensive philosophies- most likely someone who isn't so slavishly devoted to veterans or willing to invest such a huge percentage of available resources into the RB position.Even if Fox or DeAngelo (or both) come back, as a Stewart owner, I'm not really sweating it. He's 23 years old. I've got plenty of time for my investment to develop, there's no reason for me to sell it before it reaches maturity. I look at him like next year's #1 overall pick, only without the risk because he's already proven he can dominate at the NFL level (he holds the record for most rushing yards in a player's first three starts).

Agreed, same here...

Me three. I don't expect Williams to return next season and I think Stewart has Top 10 potential if he's the starter. I still like him a lot in Dynasty/Keeper leagues.

Single most over-rated player on this forum. By far.
Really?

2008: 184/836/10 4.5 ypc. 8 receptions for 47 yards.

2009: 221/1133/10 5.1 ypc. 18 receptions for 139 yards 1 TD.

His situation is currently horrible. About as bad as it gets really. That could have some bearing on his 2011 value, but then again it may mean absolutely nothing next year. I like guys on my team that score TDs. Stewart scored 21 in his first two years. I'm quite sure this is the optimal time to buy low if at all possible. I just did :hophead:

I'm holding on tightly in Dynasty leagues. And in one Dynasty league, I traded Hillis and Torain for Stewart this week. :lmao: Stewart is going to be a veritable monster as the feature back in Carolina next year.

I wish the Stewart owners in my leagues felt the way this owner did. That is a steal for you. Torain is garbage, and Stewart is simply (much) more talented than Hillis.

DWill should be back, imo.I doubt the Panthers place all their faith in Stewart alone. He just doesn't have what it takes.RBBC in 2011, imo.

John Fox could turn the team around and make the playoffs, and he still wouldn't be back next season. He's a lame duck coach. The rumors have long been that DeAngelo will be gone after this season, but I think the team will make a good effort to find a way to keep both guys. I would say that it's a complete coinflip regarding whether he'll be back or not.
