Joseph Addai Not Expected To Play This Week (1 Viewer)

Listening to Jim Nance give a local radio interview (no link) about the Packer/Colts game this week.

He said that Addai looked poor in practice last week and that his leg was heavily wrapped up. He speculated that Addai had the pulled hammy prior to last week and thinks he reaggravated the injury early in last week's game. He also said that the Colts are unlikely to use the two new running backs much this week and Rhodes and the short passing game will have to carry the load. No word on Addai's injury situation moving forward.

The CBS crew said this during the game. The Colts never listed him on the injury report which sadly isn't a surprise. But it's a pretty poor job of reporting by the Colts' beat writers that nobody heard Word 1 about this and reported it before the game.

No NFL team is completely honest with their injuries but the combination of the Indy rag being in in the tank for the Colts and the team's conservative approach with injuries doesn't make it easy sometimes.

Is it me or does this quote from Dungy about Addai sound EXACTLY like the crap he was dishing out last year every week about Harrison?

"When we get to the end of the week, there might even be some thoughts to play him (Sunday), but we've got a lot of time left in this season," Dungy said.

He delivered this whole "He's not really that hurt and might play this week" garbage every week last year with Harrison. And every week, the Colts would dispute reports that Harrison was hurt worse than they were saying. They're doing the exact same thing now with Addai. I sure hope I'm wrong but the early signs with Addai's injury bear a striking resemblance to what transpired last year with Harrison.

I think you may be reading too much into it.
Maybe. I'll admit I'm paranoid about Addai based on what I went through with Harrison last year. I don't like the feeling that I'm about to be stung twice. And now the Colts are taking issue with the published report about the timetable for Addai's absence. It sure does feel like Marvin Harrison Redux. From RotoWorld:

Colts coach Tony Dungy said Joseph Addai's hamstring injury "isn't that serious" and questioned the reported timetable of 2-4 weeks.

Dungy, notoriously furtive with injury information, said he "hadn't heard" that Addai hamstring was partially torn. He admitted that Addai would probably be held out this week, but wouldn't elaborate. We trust the original Adam Schefter report and expect Addai to miss at least two weeks.
