Joseph Addai Week 8 Injury Thread (1 Viewer)

From RotoWorld:

Tony Dungy expressed some hope that Joseph Addai could practice and play this week.

"He wanted to try and go last week, but we thought maybe, with the extra day (off) this week, it might help him," Dungy said. The Colts play on Monday Night Football against the Titans, so Addai owners that don't have Dominic Rhodes at the ready can't wait for a potential game-time decision.

It's a good thing they're playing the Titans, and you really don't have to worry about starting any Colts other than maybe Wayne.

 I get that the titans are good, but I wouldn't be avoiding Colts just yet. Let's see the Titans stop a good offense before we declare them as a team to bench guys against. Even if the Colts played like they did in all the non-Ravens games, they are still BY FAR the best offense the Titans will have faced to date.I'd start Wayne and Manning for sure, Harrison is a good WR3 option and Rhodes or Addai are solid RB2 starts depending on who starts.

Have you watched the Colts play this year? They look horrid and totally living off their team name.

I've watched every Colts game, they have just missed on about 20 huge plays. I trust them to get it ironed out. I'm not picking Indy to win, but I think they'll play a lot better than they did against Green Bay, especially on offense and especially if Addai is back.

I think the Colts will win this week (and possibly win big). Their season is pretty much on the line and they can't afford another loss.

For that reason alone, I give Addai a >50% chance of starting the game. Though I would hope they'd hold him out another week at least, as hamstrings can be lingering if not treated properly. But Addai was really starting to turn it on before the injury, and Rhodes is pretty awful, so the team may press him into playing.

I completely agree. As a guy who owns LT/Romo/Addai across a few leagues, I wish these guys (and their coaches) would just shut them down for a week or two, and let them heal. I dont see the point in risking Addai against the TEN defense. Even if he was fully healthy its not like he would set the world on fire.

My thoughts are if they do start Addai, I think it will be a full-blown RBBC, making both him and Rhodes borderline RB2s at best.

I posted in the other Addai thread that I thought Addai may feel the pressure to return this week for two reasons:

1. Rhodes has played very well the past two games.

2. The Colts' season is arguably on the line this week.

However, the fact Rhodes has played well may have Dungy feeling he doesn't need to have Addai back since the offense hasn't suffered without him. So it will be interesting to see how this plays out this week.

I'd be very surprised if Addai returns and if he does, I also expect it to be a full-blown RBBC. And against the Titans' run defense, that makes both RBs poor options in my opinion if both play. Rhodes at least could be a RB3 in PPR leagues since he, unlike Addai, has been somewhat involved in the passing game.

If the Colts couldn't do anything against that Green Bay defense, I don't see them doing very well against the Titans. However, no one thought they'd do that well against the Ravens either

This info is a perfect storm of  for Addai/Rhodes owners.
Add on the fact that the game is on Monday night and a lot of teams have to make roster decisions on Sunday in the event Addai is/is not playing -- a decision that may not be known until right before the Monday game. Even if Addai plays, there is still a chance he reaggraves the hamstring. I just don't see how he is going to be able to go when Ryan Grant tweaked his hamstring in preseason, was limited for several weeks, and just got back to full strength. Addai reportedly has a tear which is far worse so I just can't see him playing and, even if he did, getting his usual workload. Rhodes will be factor, particularly since he hasn't done anything to put himself back on the bench.

KFFL reports that Addai is unlikely to play this week. I think that Dungy is saying this for stategy purposes only. Why would he risk bringing Addai back against the Titans when Rhodes is running well? I'm starting Rhodes with confidence that Addai doesn't see any touches. If he does they will be extremely limited but I would be willing to bet that Addai doesn't even see the field.

My .02

I don't think Addai plays but does KFFL have a source for this report or is it just their speculation?

I think regardless of who starts/plays, can anybody start either of these guys this week against the Titans?

Update from RotoWorld:

Joseph Addai (hamstring) practiced on a limited basis Wednesday.

This is a very promising development, although we still wouldn't be counting on Addai returning to face Tennessee. Still, he could be ready for Week 9 against New England, a game the Colts have targeted on their schedule.

Related: Dominic Rhodes

It would not surprise me in the least if he isnt back until Wk 11 against HOU.

Even if Addai goes he will probably pop his hymen and have to leave the game....

Seriously I have regreted keeping him all year. He is the new Fragile Fred Taylor, and he always seems to get dinged in games and is forced to miss a few quarters if not the rest of the game.

My decision is between Rhodes and Lendale White....I think I am leaning toward White.

Agreed, but it also wouldn't surprise me if he played this week. Hamstrings are tricky, some people are fine within a week, others take can take over a month. Addai seems like a guy who is pretty good at recovering from injuries(and pretty bad at suffering them) so I wouldn't rule him out for this week until he's ruled out for this week.

But it was a partially torn hammy, how can someone come back from this so quickly. Still think he sits for a couple more weeks.

Nobody every really confirmed that though. Dungy and Addai both said that wasn't the case, and if it were I can't imagine he'd be practicing with it.

My guess is GTD with Rhodes eventually getting the start.

This is a must win for Indy so I think they will pull out all the stops for a wi, but I think rushing Addai back is the worst thing they can do.

I see your point and it's hard to refute it. That said, Addai isn't in Taylor's class in terms of talent and it's probably not very close. Fred Taylor has been one of the most talented and under-appreciated RBs of his era. Addai has a long ways to go to come close to matching Taylor's production. As far as Addai's current status, having gone through the Marvin Harrison Ordeal last season, there's no way to know what's really going on this week with Addai. Normally, it would be a major positive if a player was practicing one week even in limited fashion after injuring his hamstring. But Harrison was limited for about 10 weeks and always a GTD and never played so I have zero confidence that Addai is really getting better.

Im benching Westbrook for Rhodes this week. Thats how confident I am that Addai is going to play....

As a Rhodes owner in two leagues where I could use him, I'm REALLY hoping Addai goes out there, because if the injury is as described, there's an excellent chance he'll tweak it this week and really do a number on it that leaves him out for a while.

I needn't drag up the myriad of games where a potent offense does nothing vs a mediocre defense then runs up the board on a stud defense. If the Vikings offense can run up 40+ vs the Chicago D... anything is possible. We aren't talking 28 or 35 pts....

classy
I can't say that the thought never crossed my mind either...I wouldn't say that out loud though...it just invites bad karma. I apparently already have enough of that this year. I'm in a 10 team league and sitting 2nd in total points (by only 24) and I'm currently ranked in the bottom 1/4 of the league...still trying to figure that one out. I guess that's what happens when you are most scored against team in the league by more than 100 points. Too many people are having career games when they face me this year, so at this point I don't care anymore and will probably play Rhodes whenever he has a good matchup. Worked last week anyway. It was stated earlier that this Addai thing could turn into the same thing as Harrison's GTD crap last year. I'm just hoping for something definitive soon.
