Joseph Addai (1 Viewer)

RB Joseph Addai has missed four games with a neck injury that he first sustained against Kansas City and then aggravated against the Redskins. While Addai saw limited work in practice last week and has been rehabbing the injury, he still doesn't know when he will be able to return. "As much as I'd like to be back out there, it's still just day-to-day for me," he said. "I want to play. I want to be out there. So we'll just see what happens."

(Yahoo! Sports)

Everything you read about him is just like this, nothing definitive. I pretty much have zero confidence in Addai in terms of injuries, when he gets hurt it tends to drag on forever. Any Colts fans have any other insight from local news or anything?

When he got injured, there were reports stating there is no timetable for this type of injury and he can't come play until the pain is completely gone. Pain is still there.

Any news concerning Week 13, other than the mention in the Week 13 Upgrades as possibly playing this week?

Probably not this week. Hopefully next week as it sounds like he is improving. Still would be very risky trotting him out in a first round playoff matchup.

What is the word on M. Hart? He looked ok backing up Addai, and he has not been put on IR, any insight on his status?

Finally gave up last week on Addai. Couldn't justify a roster spot anymore when Ive used him once all season.

I have carried Addai ever since he has been hurt but hopefully I can add a decent RB this week. I can see Addai coming back and taking one hard tackle and being out again. Can`t risk that in a playoof game.

RB Joseph Addai's return is dependent on how the nerve damage in his neck and shoulder continues to heal. "Joseph might be a bit longer. I don't know specifically how long because his issue is one of strength in his arm, which is driven largely by nerve re-generation and improvement. And only Mother Nature knows the answer to that. There is improvement and there are positive signs," team president Bill Polian explained. "(Addai) is out practicing and he's bouncing around. He's got bounce in his step and he's anxious to get back. As soon as the doctor's clear him, he'll be back. I don't think that will be terribly far away."

hart was active last game but didnt play.

The reports have consistently indicated that this injury is unpredictable, and I think that's still where it stands. What we know is that the Colts still hope to get him back this season because they haven't put him on IR, despite roster spots being at a premium right now. Polian makes it sound like he might be back in time for the fantasy playoffs, but I'm not confident. When I hear about nerve problems and lacking strength in the arm, it suggests that there's a ball security issue. If he's at a high risk for fumbling, that could keep him off the field on Sundays, even if he's practicing fully all week. Bottom line: plan on starting someone else as your RB2 for the rest of the season, unless you see Addai take the majority of the carries/rec's on gameday.

Bumping this thread to ask people if they are still holding onto Addai at this point? I am considering dropping

Dropping Addai is a stretch??? I traded him a few weeks ago for Willis freakin McGahee to handcuff Rice. There's several RBs fighting for carries, and they're all mediocre - Addai included.
Addai got a consistent 20 touches in a good offense...not mediocre in today's world of RBBC.
He got 20 touches twice this year.

He and Collie are #######. Why back in the day I remember Jim Brown playing on two broken legs and with a sucking chest wound. It was a December day in Cleveland against the Bears. It started out raining and the field was muddy before the rain turned to snow. The equipment guy had fouled up and Brown, injured as he was, had to play the game wearing only a loin cloth. For warm ups he came out and was seen pushing the bones protruding from his legs back into place. He then rubbed some dirt on his injuries before leading his team to victory behind a 20 carry for 227 performance including 3 T.D.'s. On the last series of the game Chicago had the ball and was driving for a winning T.D. Brown went in on Defense to play L.B. He caused a game saving turnover when he yanked out his own tibia, stabbed the Bears ball carrier with it, causing a fumble, which he recovered with his free hand, the other hand putting his tibia back in place. After the game he pleasured every women in attendance at the stadium.

Today's players just don't know about toughness and sucking it up.

I was at that game. after the game he was seen at a Red Cross where he donated gallons of blood to wounded Vietnam War heroes. It was unreal.

Isn't that just like Jim Brown!

d brown being meh and javarris injury positions him nicely imho.

Brown hasn't done much of anything to make me think that Addai won't be the man when he gets back. He will be back & he will be given 15- 20+ touches a game. I'll take that over 80% of other RB's out there.

He got 20 touches twice this year.
He averaged 19.5 touches/week....you're right that it's not consistent, but 16 was his lowest and that was Week 1.
Well, I have him averaging 18.5 touches a game, but that's not a big difference. The biggest problem is all that occurred over the first 6 weeks of the season, and he has since missed the last 5 weeks with no timetable for him to return. In a redraft league, heading into week 13, he's certainly a canidate for a drop.

Dropping Addai for Trung seems a little extreme but maybe its just me.

(TheHuddle) Indianapolis Colts RB Joseph Addai (neck) and WR Austin Collie (concussion) went through a light workout Monday, Dec. 13, and have been practicing for the past few weeks, according to The Indianapolis Star's Mike Chappell.

Analysis: Both players have been doing individual drills (jogging and catching passes) but haven't participated in contact team drills. Addai is still regaining strength in his shoulder and hopes to practice fully this week. Collie is under supervision of team doctors and no timetable has ever been established.

(Rotoworld) Joseph Addai (neck, shoulder) practiced in full Wednesday for the first time since October 15.

Analysis: He's been out for over two months with nerve damage in his neck/shoulder area. It's probably no coincidence that Addai has upped his practice workload on the heels of a career game by Donald Brown. Addai has been out so long that it's hard to imagine him playing a significant role Sunday at Oakland, if he's active for the game at all. The possibility of Addai suiting up, however, adversely affects the Week 16 fantasy outlook for Brown.

If locals here any more news this week, I for one would be really appreciative to hear.

It’s too soon to celebrate, but RB Joseph Addai practiced full today. That’s the first time, after weeks of “limited” with his shoulder/neck injury. He hasn’t practiced full, if I remember correctly, since he got hurt at Washington Oct. 17.

It’s been a long eight-game stretch since then. The questions have poured in about him, and I was starting to worry we might not see him again, not this season, perhaps not ever.

As many are quick to remind, and rightfully so, we won’t know he’s 100 percent until he’s out there, takes a few hits, throws a key pass block, whatever. But in the wake of the sad news about WR Austin Collie joining the millions of Colts players on IR today, the fact that Joe finally practiced full qualifies as a modest pick-me-up.

(Rotoworld) Joseph Addai said Thursday that he has a "great chance" of playing against the Raiders on Sunday. Analysis: Addai confirmed that he made it through Wednesday's full practice without a setback. Even better, he claims he'd be able to play if the game was on Thursday. While Addai may be eased back in, Peyton Manning will be pushing for him to be out there in crunch time as a more trusted pass blocker than Donald Brown.
(RotoWire) Addai (neck, shoulder) says he could return this week after fully practicing on Wednesday. "I feel like it's a great chance. I feel like I'm heading in the right direction," Addai told the Associated Press. "I felt good. I didn't set myself back. Really, I'm just happy to put on a uniform and just get back into it." Analysis: Even if Addai does return this week, it's hard to count on him for many carries since he last played in Week 6. He may be eased back into action this week and become more of a factor in Week 17 and the playoffs. Still, his return makes almost every player in the Indy backfield a tough option for fantasy purposes.

Addai has been practicing fully all week, which should be a good sign...no setbacks. The big question is how much playing time he will get. Even if he starts, Donald Brown may see a lot of snaps since it's his first game back in a long time.

From their rankings Bloom thinks Addai will split time and be effective, while Dodds thinks he won't get much PT.
Addai knows this offense in and out, the team has seemed reluctant to give Brown full-time snaps with lesser talents who are much less prepared to serve their role taking snaps from him. I expect 50/50, if not more snaps for Addai, and Addai to get goal line and 2MD work. There is some risk that Addai's shoulder doesn't hold up, but I think he is still worth the flex play b/c of upside

Great, just when I thought Brown had gotten to be a safe flex play.
trust your gut, but in a must-win situation, i have no idea why they would just give Addai a few snaps here and there following a week that he is practicing in full.
Everything I have read is that he is practicing in full but I have seen nothing in regards to him starting. If he is named the starter, I would have to think he is a solid RB2 in PPR formats. Anything out there homers? Starting or just getting worked in?
