Joseph Addai's quest for 100 yds rushing (1 Viewer)

It hasnt happened since week 9 of last year when he got 100 yds rushing and 100 yds receiving vs NE :blackdot: The guy hasnt had more than 78 yds rushing in a game since then only topping the 70 yd mark 3 times in that time. He now has a completely healthy OLine and Manning should have most of the rust knocked off by now. His upcoming schedule looks like this:

6 Oct 12 BAL

7 Oct 19 @ GNB

8 Oct 27 @ TEN

9 Nov 2 NWE

10 Nov 9 @ PIT

11 Nov 16 HOU

12 Nov 23 @ SDG

13 Nov 30 @ CLE

14 Dec 7 CIN

15 Dec 14 DET

16 Dec 18 @ JAC

17 Dec 28 TEN

He most likely wont do it next week (as a matter of fact it might be a good idea to bench Addai vs BAL as they have been stellar vs the run so far). GB's defense is bad but the game is in GB. So will he run for 100 yds in a game ever again?

My thought from watching yesterdays game:

Addai's yards this year = # of tackles Addai has broken

I've never seen an O-line this poor at blocking and maintaining a block for more than 0.0001 seconds. It's extemely pitiful at this point. Will that improve? Can Mudd and Moore make any changes to make the running game work better? Not sure. I know this, until the Colts PROVE they can hit the deep ball, they are S.O.L. They've tried maybe 10 deep balls to the outside this year, and maybe hit on 1 of those. That offense and the value of Jo Addai are tied together by the threat and realization of the deep ball. Right now, either Manning just misses these throws, or Wayne/Harrison/Gonzalez are dropping them (or better said, not making the unbelievable catches they seemed to routinely make last few seasons).

I sure hope it'll change, or this will be exactly what they are right now: a .500 team.

Didn't he have a monster game against Baltimore last season?
He had 3 TDs and only a handful of yds on a completely beaten up Baltimore defense last year. Completely different situation now.
Of course Addai only played about a quarter of that game.I wouldn't bench him this week unless you had 2 other legit top-10 options. Even if he only puts up 50 yards he could easily get 2 scores.

It's hard to get to 100 yards when you're only getting around 15-20 carries unless you break a few big ones. That hasn't happened yet, but he's more workmanlike in general and doesn't tend to break long ones anyway.

He'll need 100 carries to get 100 yards against the Ravens this week. I'd strongly advise benching him if you have another even decent option. I could see Addai getting 40-45 yards and 1 reception and that's it. A TD is certainly possible but hardly a good bet against the Ravens.

More disconcerting to me than Addai's inability to reach 100 yards rushing is the fact he remains a complete non-factor in the passing game. He had 40 and 41 receptions in his first two seasons. He's on pace for only 20 this year. In his first 31 games, he had 1 reception or none in a game seven times or 22.5% of the time. That's already happened to him 75% of the time this season. In the past, he could offset lower rushing production with 3-5 receptions a game. But that's not happening now. Manning isn't even looking for him in the passing game right now. Because of that, I wouldn't view Addai as being anything better than a so-so RB3 option this week. He'll likely need a TD to salvage his fantasy day and the Ravens haven't allowed one yet on the ground.

I was looking at his numbers prior to the season starting and I almost posted a thread "Addai-I just don't get it". He has not rushed for 1100 yards yet and does not put up elite receiving numbers to make up for his lack of rushing yards. Yes, he does score TDs...like Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, but his rushing numbers remind me of that fabled year in 1997 when KAJ led the league in TDs and did not break 1000 yards. Addai is good, but if you are in a performance league, you will be disappointed if you grabbed him early in the 1st round.
