Justin Blackmon declares for NFL draft (1 Viewer)

Blackmon is intriguing due to his upstanding character. However, this article is concerning.

He is 6'1" and has an average vert of 33" (average to below average to NFL WR standards).

Doesn't have top end speed or seperation speed. Can he beat a jam at the line since he played with a 7 yard cushion all his college career agains subpar Big 12 corners?

I agree that he has excellent body control and hands, but I'm concerned with his lack of speed and how he will deal with NFL corners.

I'm rooting for the guy. I hold the 1.1 and 1.2 pick in this years draft, but I'm torn on if I should take Blackmon #2 or Luck #2?
I mentioned this in one of the other rookie threads. Sports Science did an interesting piece on Blackmon and cited his arm length (34 inches) and jumping ability (33 inches) as advantage for him. According to them, he was able to jump from a standstill and catch a ball 10 feet 11 inches in the air. In comparison, Plaxico Burress could only jump 10 feet 8 inches even though Burress is 4 inches taller.

Yep everyone stands still for that play, really good test sports science.

I don't get the comparisons to TO. He's a couple inches shorter. He seems more like a faster Crabtree to me. I don't think he'll match either Green or Julio.
He looks like him on the field. Also has the same number.
He certainly plays like him, doesn't he?However, I thought

You should take Roddy White out of that list there. He always had big time stopwatch speed/size combo he was just drafted later because he came from a small program.

Look at Hernandez and everyone surrounding him at the end of the game. Looks like they were all doing exactly that.Run to the end zone. Turn around and jump.

Blackmon is far more reminiscent of Dwayne Bowe than he is Julio Jones.I have no doubt he will be a fine NFL receiver, but I am not convinced he will be annually considered in the upper echelon.
Blackmon is nearly identical in terms of height and weight to Crabtree. He does have far better intangibles than Crabtree and should be faster.Bowe and Boldin are the two next closest, although Bowe is an inch taller and slightly heavier. Boldin is the same height but almost 10 pounds heavier. Blackmon is a sure-thing IMO to be a successful WR but I don't see Calvin Johnson upside. I would love to see him run a sub 4.5.
Blackmon had a 10-foot-3 broad jump and 35-inch vertical jump. Not bad.
