Rotoworld:

FOX Sports' Alex Marvez reports "lots of folks" inside the NFL are "optimistic" suspended WR Justin Blackmon will return to the Jaguars in 2015.
Just as Josh Gordon's Dynasty league owners get the worst news possible, Blackmon's get a ray of hope. The Jaguars hope to have an update on Blackmon's progress before May's draft, at which point they can begin planning for the 2015 season. Blackmon remains "suspended indefinitely," with no concrete date for potential reinstatement. At Jaguars GM Dave Caldwell's season-ending presser this past December, he said he'd "heard some good things" about Blackmon's recovery from substance abuse. Blackmon turned 25 two weeks ago. His return would be a huge boost for beleaguered Blake Bortles.

If he comes back, and I hope and think that he will, there must be a chance the Jags trade him. They have decent depth at WR even before FA or the draft this year. They might be better adding a vet to mentor the younger guys and providen a reliable pair of 3rd down hands for a couple of seasons.

Assuming he doesn't have any other issues still pending with the league, Id love to see him in Seattle where he could playu his game and let Baldwin do what he is good at too. Big boost for Wilson.

Rotoworld:

Suspended WR Justin Blackmon pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor marijuana possession charge on November 20.

The charge will be reduced to misdemeanor disorderly conduct if Blackmon commits no crimes six months after November 20. According to beat writer Michael DiRocco, the Jaguars need Blackmon to apply for reinstatement "within the next five weeks." From the date Blackmon fills out the application, Roger Goodell would have 60 days to decide whether to reinstate him to the NFL.

Rotoworld:

Jaguars owner Shad Khan stated Friday at the Super Bowl that he is "very optimistic" about the 2015 return of suspended WR Justin Blackmon.
"Absolutely," Khan stated vehemently. "As a matter of fact, I’m very optimistic. I think he’s paid his dues. I think he’s got his life together. I think he can be a role model for people who have gone through hard times. We’re waiting for him." Blackmon's return would be a huge boost to Jacksonville's wideout corps, which is dealing with Allen Robinson's foot fracture and Cecil Shorts' free agency. 25-year-old Blackmon is a run-after-catch machine with an ability to threaten the intermediate sections. He'd be a big upgrade on Shorts at Z receiver.

Just something to think on-

I live in Oklahoma and naturally have a bunch of friends on FB from Oklahoma. Someone posted the article about Khan saying that and the total of responses has been disturbing. They're saying he was in this bar or that bar recently acting like a drunk jerk.

1 or 2 people saying it is yeah yeah sure whatever

20-30 people saying it make me think hmmm....

Please don't give me the 31 flavors response, I am certainly not that guy. I found this interesting and enough replies that I thought there might be something to it where people might want to know.

Not sure playing in Seattle where weed is legal is a good idea given the last arrest he had.

I think alcohol has been a bigger issue for him to overcome than weed and that's legal everywhere.

In terms of this notion that some city's are harder to deal with your addictions than others. I'd say it's possible but what city can vary wildly by the person.

Recently read where JR Smith of Cleveland Cavs said he felt he could good well in Cleveland due to lack of nightlife. Yet in that same city does not slow down Gordon or Manziel.

Once heard a response from Ken Caminiti when someone asked him the most difficult city's in the MLB he had difficulty remaining sober. He response was Pittsburgh, not NY or LA. Said there was nothing to do but sit in his room and drink.

Orchard Park is probably the only one in the NFL. The relatively minimal trouble even goes away once it gets so cold people don't want to go outside.

Wouldn't there be pictures all over if he was out getting drunk at bars?

With cell phones no celebrity can stay under the radar out in public.

Seahawks aren't adding any high-priced talent. In fact, they are about to start losing high-priced talent.

What?

Robinson's rehab should be done in a couple of weeks. Jags have made zero effort to retain Shorts. With Robinson, Marqise Lee, and Hurns, his free agency is a non-event.

Yes, Blackmon would be a boost, but the Jags would be foolish not to make a deal from a position of strength.

Who said he came at a high price? Quite the opposite I would imagine.

Rotoworld:

Jaguars GM Dave Caldwell told PFT Live he’s encouraged by the reports he’s getting on suspended WR Justin Blackmon.
"It's currently in the league's hands and it's in Justin's," Caldwell said. "The reports I’ve gotten is that he's engaging in the program. We’ll welcome him back if he does all the right things." This falls in line with comments from owner Shad Khan last month. The Jaguars want Blackmon back and are optimistic he'll return in 2015. Blackmon has yet to apply for reinstatement.

My friends that are parents that went in for a drink or somesuch are just...I don't know mild. Not everyone is into "outing" someone, some people just sorta notice and then mind their Ps and Qs.

Here's but one "Close friend of mine lives in the sticks in Oklahoma and has golfed and partied with Justin Blackmon during and post college. My friend is an off the wall insane Marine grunt and has no limits. Justin Blackmon does not either. Said friend has half of his phone filled with pictures of those nights. My friend could not keep up with Justin Blackmon in drinking, women chasing or ego racing. Also, Justin Blackmon thought he deserved free drinks and free women everywhere he went."

ya but none of these stories are recent. everyone knows he was getting plastered in college and the early part of his career.

If he was still doing it, at least in bars, there would be pictures all over. people getting drunk in bars don't have some kind of code, they act like idiots and there is no way all of them are agreeing to not take pictures.

I don't understand what's going on. Has he been caught drinking or doing something else that is going to stop him from playing in the NFL again?

Yeah I know that. Just seems like there is an increase of activity in his threads today so I was wondering if something new happened I'm not aware of.

WR is way too deep, talented, and young to worry much about this guy now. Maybe late in a startup for kicks. But he was good as a rookie--not some kind of stud.

WR1 the 2nd half of the season and #7 in the games he played in 2013.

Might never see that Justin Blackmon again though.

Against a ton of prevent defense because they were getting smashed right? I'm not saying he didn't perform and the way teams decided to defend the Jags in the second half of games is out of Blackmon's control but his stats are inflated a little. I'm looking to sell if he ever gets a bump in value.

His talent was fueled by drugs and alcohol. He was like Popeye.

His DLF ADP is a little uncomfortably high (higher than Lee). But hard to knock his talent level when Robinson is a 3rd round pick. WR is deep but he fits the profile of someone I want as a WR4/5. Someone who is the best WR on his team and can perform as a WR1.

Rotoworld:

The Florida Times Union's Ryan O'Halloran believes Justin Blackmon is "done-zo" with the Jaguars.

O'Halloran made the comment in a chat, so he was merely speaking his opinion. The Jaguars' higher-ups have backed Blackmon to a certain degree and said nice things about the former No. 5 overall pick earlier this offseason, but by the way the team has approached free agency and the draft over the past year, they appear set to move on from Blackmon. O'Halloran believes Alabama WR Amari Cooper will be in play for the Jaguars at No. 3 overall in next week's draft.

Good, let him go to a better team. Love to see him in New England, Indy, or Seattle.

With all the young talented WR they have already, do people really believe cooper is someone theyre seriously considering? I dont buy it

Rotoworld:

Jaguars GM Dave Caldwell said the team doesn't know if suspended WR Justin Blackmon has applied for reinstatement.

"Our process hasn't changed," Caldwell said. "Plan to go without him, but if he emerges, he's going to go in with the top guys and compete. Hopefully we're able to get some news." Blackmon hasn’t appeared in a game since 2013 and remains on indefinite suspension. The Florida Times Union believes Blackmon is done in Jacksonville.

Rotoworld:

Speaking in a Monday radio interview, Jaguars GM David Caldwell indicated suspended WR Justin Blackmon could be done with the team.

Caldwell was asked about the fact that the Jags drafted two more receivers over the weekend, and he confirmed it's indeed an indication of Blackmon's future — or lack thereof — with the team. Beat writer Ryan O'Halloran is confident Blackmon is "DONE-ZO" in Jacksonville. Blackmon is serving an indefinite suspension, and it's unclear when he might apply for reinstatement.

I heard a portion of the interview Caldwell did on Sirius NFL. He made a comment to the effect, "we drafted two wide receivers, that should tell you how we feel about the return of Justin"

To be fair, Green in the 5th and Sterling in the 7th wouldn't qualify as replacements for Blackmon. But, since I'm the last guy on the bandwagon, I may as well stretch out my legs and stay awhile.

He's never coming back. Droppable imo. Have fun Justin. I'm not mad at you. You're sick. Hopefully you put that money to good use.......

Rotoworld:

According to multiple reports, suspended Jaguars WR Justin Blackmon did apply for reinstatement to the NFL this offseason, but was denied by the league.

The Associated Press' Mark Long reported Blackmon's reinstatement attempt was denied, and the report has been "confirmed" by Mike Dempsey of 1010 XL in Jacksonville. The "feeling" is reportedly that Blackmon failed another drug test, though Dempsey suggests Blackmon also may have missed a test, which counts as a failed test in the NFL's eyes. Either way, we're not optimistic that Blackmon will be returning to the field anytime soon.

The way I understood it, he would be denied til it reached one year since his suspension. We're still a couple months off of that mark.

I have said my piece about him earlier, not a fan, but I do think this comes up again this summer. I think this is just can I come back early? NO
