KC DEF owners...what are you doing for BYE and (2) DEN matchups? (1 Viewer)

I managed to grab BUF myself. They're getting the call next week while KC deals with Peyton.

In dynasty leagues, are you guys trying to hold KC for future seasons? Do we believe they're starting something special on D for the long haul?

I grabbed Buffalo as well just because I had an extra roster spot in a redraft league. I thought I was grabbing them so others couldn't use Buffalo against me in the playoffs, it now looks like I will be using Buffalo in the playoffs.

Jesus, that was a disaster. They could be awful ROS with those injuries.

I have Buffalo vs. the terrible Falcons this week. Going to plan ahead and scramble now for the playoffs. ####..

Grabbed Clev for this week anyway. They're my failsafe for now but I'll need to see who else is there. Some guy grabbed Buff on Sunday.

Depending on how the Redskins look tonight, I may still keep them. Not much out there and weeks 14 & 15 are Skins and Raiders. Skins can move the ball but they turn it over a lot and get sacked a lot. Raiders who knows who the qb will be by then. Pair that with Cleveland (week 13 Jax and week 16 Ny Jets) and we might be able to salvage this.

This is my current plan. Though I'm looking a little more at the BUF-ATL matchup again. JAX has been ok the last couple weeks.

losing Hali really hurts this team.... they were getting a lot of points through sacks and INT's through pressures etc.... I'm starting dallas thursday this week

Rotoworld updates:

An MRI revealed only a "slight" ankle sprain for Chiefs OLB Tamba Hali, though his Week 13 status is uncertain.

"I think he, doctors and coaches felt better after the MRI," coach Andy Reid said Monday. It's definitely a bullet dodged, as the early worry was that Hali had suffered a torn Achilles' tendon. We should get a better idea of Hali's status for Sunday's game against the Broncos when the Chiefs return to practice on Wednesday. For now, he's just a vague "day to day."

Chiefs OLB Justin Houston's right elbow was too swollen on Monday to undergo his scheduled MRI.

Unless the Chiefs ask Houston to play hurt -- and they may with Tamba Hali banged up -- this doesn't sound like an injury that will heal in a matter of one week. Houston's elbow was "subluxed," meaning it was temporarily dislocated. His status is very uncertain for Week 13 against the Broncos.

Ugh, what the heck to do with this???

Rotoworld:

ESPN's Chris Mortensen reported on NFL Insiders that the Chiefs have a "much higher level of concern" with Justin Houston's right elbow injury than Tamba Hali's ankle.

Hali's ankle injury is shaping up as a day-to-day situation that may not cost him more than some practice time. Houston's dislocated elbow was so swollen Monday that Chiefs doctors couldn't even perform an MRI to check for ligament damage. Houston's status, for now, should be considered week to week, and there is a real chance Kansas City will be without both edge rushers in Week 13.

Gotta find another option... only question is whether to use a roster spot on these Chiefs in dynasty. I'd appreciate some thoughts on that, but I realize this is a Chiefs thread, not a dynasty strategy thread, so it perhaps is OT.

The Redskins in week 14 is looking solid.
I agree. They are a matchup play at this point.

I own them with NYG.

Week 13: NYG @ WAS

Week 14: KC @ WAS

Week 15: KC @ OAK

Week 16: NYG @ DET

Don't like all the away games. But I do like the matchups themselves.

I have 3 defenses now...ha. 1 league has AZ and NYJ and my other one has AZ and BUF. I probably will only play KC against WAS and that depends on my other match ups.

Going with Miami this week against the Jets. Then playing the wire with KC as an option on my bench. Not giving up on them yet but need to see improvement before starting them in my playoffs.

Im trying to get Buffalo on waivers that process tonight. Crossing fingers.

Other options are either Cardinals, Giants or Broncos (just dropped).

Rotoworld:

Coach Andy Reid said OLB Tamba Hali (ankle) has a "good chance" to play in Sunday's game against the Broncos.

Hali won't practice Wednesday, but the sprain he sustained against the Chargers last week is obviously slight. It's huge news for the Chiefs if they're going to have any prayer of slowing down Peyton Manning Sunday. Fellow edge rusher Justin Houston was undergoing his elbow MRI Wednesday afternoon and is unlikely to suit up.

So what is the healing time for dislocated elbows? Any precedents we can compare Houston to?
Rotoworld update:

FOX Sports' Mike Garafolo and NFL Network's Ian Rapoport both reports Chiefs OLB Justin Houston will be shelved 2-3 weeks with ligament damage in his right elbow.
Per RapSheet, Houston will avoid surgery but has "sprained ligaments" and "torn muscles" in the elbow. The Chiefs are optimistic about Tamba Hali (ankle) playing Sunday against Peyton Manning. Still, these are big injuries heading into a crucial game with Kansas City already on a two-game losing streak. Houston has 44 tackles and 11 sacks on the season. The 24-year-old's All-Pro chances will surely take a hit due to the missed time.

Hmm, to cut or not to cut. All of sudden @Was, @Oak, Ind doesn't look so bad.
KC has DEN, @WAS, @OAK, IND

CLE has JAX, @NE, CHI, @NYJ

Against weak teams, CLE has had pretty decent points...@MIN, CIN, and BUF in weeks 3-5 were not bad.

Am thinking of tag-teaming KC with CLE and hoping KC does ok @WAS and @OAK.

EDIT:

Interestingly enough, JAX has not been as 'giving' to opposing DST in the last 3-4 weeks.

BUF has ATL, @TB, @JAX, MIA. ATL has been a better matchup in the last few weeks (ARI, CAR, TB, NO). SEA was in there too, but didn't score well. MIA is now top 10 in good matchups for DST in my league, and has given alot of points to NE and BUF (divisional games).

I am thinking maybe BUF is the way to go, esp this week coming off BYE and games vs. ATL/MIA at home.

According to the Chiefs, OLB Justin Houston's (elbow) MRI results were "favorable," and coach Andy Reid will update his status on Friday.

In this instance, we're assuming favorable means "not season ending." Both FOX Sports and NFL Network have reported Houston will be sidelined 2-3 weeks as he recovers from ligament damage in his right elbow.

Thought that the KC D might be one of the rare defenses that I hold onto throughout the offseason in dynasty, but looks like I'm gonna cut them

Definitely was never dropping them. Benching them for the Bills this week is going to be the wrong choice, but won't cost me the week by any means (AP, Tate, Gordon, wow).

KC with confidence for the playoffs.

Good luck to all!

Fellow KC Def owners. Are you going back to KC this week? Injuries are piling up, but do you trust BUF or another WW defense more?

I'm starting Kansas City this week, and I just picked up Philadelphia as insurance for Weeks 15 and 16 should they falter.

Any observations on how the Chiefs have actually been playing without Houston and Hali, maybe from people who have watched any of their games? I saw the two Denver games but it's hard to really count those given the Manning show.

It's been three dry weeks for the Chiefs now (or 4 out of 5), but I would have thought the Chargers would have been a good matchup, but they put 40 on them. Any good sense of how the Redskins game will go?
