Keenan McCardell (1 Viewer)

Argument for:2 Time Pro-bowler14th in league history in receptions and could move into the top 10 by the end of his career despite not playing much his first 3 seasons.25th in league history in receiving yards and could move into the top 20 by the end of his career.2 Time Super Bowl Champion.I don't really see how you could keep him out.

If Art Monk can't get in, KM sure ain't getting in with his numbers.
Monk was not as good of a player. McCardell has had to earn his yards and Super Bowls.
 Monk didn't earn anything? It was just handed to him?
He was a system player. McCardell has proven he can adapt to any system and succeed. He will be a pro-bowler with 3 different teams.
McCardell has proved he can be a 2nd or 3rd receiving option on competitive teams.COlin

This isn't an argument over Monk vs McCardell. This is an argument that McCardell should be in the HOF.He could conceivably pass Monk's records by the end of next year... but that is beside the point. You can't argue with top 10 numbers plus 2 Super Bowl wins.

Someone asked the same question about Jimmy Smith a couple weeks ago. Since the answer is no for him, it is certainly no for McCardell since they played to gether much of their careers and Smith was the better WR.

How can you explain McCardell's two championships?Jimmy has zero.

:lmao: :lmao: at trying to pass off the ring donated to him by the '91 Redskins as a championship he was a part of.
1991 Washington Redskins 0 0 0 0 --- 0 0 0 0 0
If you're going to fish, do it right. At least entertain me.

McCardell is a solid WR but never a HOFerHe was 2nd fiddle to Jimmy Smith his entire time in JAX...Rice wasn't second fiddle to John Taylor, Michael Irvin wasn't 2nd fiddle to Alvin Harper....teams don't gameplan to shut McCardell down.KM has never posted double digit TD..ever...never...not once. 12 out of his 13 seasons he had 6 TD or less...think about that.He has very little going for him to make the HOF...nothing he would do at this point would pop him in in my eyes.RiceIrvinBrownMcCardell...seriously, he isn't close in terms of impact for an offense. He's a role player.

Argument for:

2 Time Pro-bowler
Making the Pro Bowl only twice is an argument against, not for. A Hall of Famer should be a guy who's a virtual lock for the Pro Bowl year in and year out.

Nothing against the guy, but I grew up thinking (and still do) that the HoF was for legends, for giants of the game. How many kids have thrown their little plastic football into the darkening sky of a cold Michigan Sunday evening and pretended he was Keenan Mcf'inCardell?

Are we talking about the Football HOF or the Stupid First Name HOF????Football HOF - Not in a gazilliobillion years.SFN HOF - First ballot lock.

LOL...If Keenan McCardell is a HOFer, then Vinnie Testeverde and Dave Krieg are too...Who did Keenan play with in two Super Bowl championships? Try ONE championship played in my friend.

Bottom line:

He has the numbers and championships to earn his spot in the leagues historical elite.
Bottom line:He sucked before he came to Jax and became the clear #2 behind Jimmy Smith (never led the team in receiving). He also didn't even lead the Bucs in receiving on the Super Bowl team and had a whopping 670 yards.

In fact, the only season he lead his team in receiving was the year after the Super Bowl when Keyshawn was kicked off the team.

This has always been my favorite Keenan McCardell story. Maybe he'll have Greg Lloyd give his induction speech?

NFL Notes: McCardell upset with cheap shot

Associated Press

Oct. 26, 1997

Jacksonville receiver Keenan McCardell said Pittsburgh's Greg Lloyd hit him with a cheap shot Sunday because Lloyd mistakenly thought McCardell had made a threatening call to his house.

McCardell denied that he ever made such a call, but said he suspects that someone on the Steelers' staff made the call to motivate Lloyd.

The Steelers took over first place in the AFC Central division by beating the Jaguars, 23-17, in overtime.

McCardell said Lloyd came up and leveled him well after the whistle on the first play of the game, a long incompletion by Jacquars quarterback Mark Brunell.

"He didn't need to do that," McCardell said. "He said I called his house and threatened his family. I don't need to do that. . . . I hope the league fines (him) for it.

"After the game, he told me, 'Be a man. Own up to it.' I used to have a lot of respect for him, but not now. . . . He should remember that what goes around, comes around," McCardell said.

The Jaguars receiver said he would never do to a fellow National Football League player what he wouldn't want done to him.

"I'm not threatening his family. I've got a family, too," McCardell said. "Why would I own up to something I didn't do? That must be his coaches doing that to motivate him. I wouldn't do something like that, but he still said I did that. I don't mess with anybody."

Lloyd refused comment, but Steelers linebacker Jason Gildon said he had heard rumors about a supposed phone call for several days.

"I've been hearing something like that throughout the week," Gildon said.

In hindsight, this is what makes Lloyd's claims kind of creepy: http://www.post-gazette.com/breaking/20040318aplloydp7.asp

MoP is McCardell????

What was the call? "Hey, Miss Lady - Leon IS gonna kick your ###."

Has a WR ever gotten into the HOF without ever being the best receiver on his own team?

I don't think it would be an exaggeration that there are at least 20 to 30 currently active WR's that are better WR's than McCardell.

Yep, this is thread is a :fishing: expedition

 My 8 month old son has a better chance of entering the HOF. :boxing:

Argument for:

2 Time Pro-bowler

14th in league history in receptions and could move into the top 10 by the end of his career despite not playing much his first 3 seasons.

25th in league history in receiving yards and could move into the top 20 by the end of his career.

the bolded part is an argument against. Any WR should need AT LEAST six or seven pro bowls to be in the HOF imho.

Has a WR ever gotten into the HOF without ever being the best receiver on his own team?
Swann was probably better than Stallworth while both were playing. And McCardell might be the best receiver on his own team now.
